Enter Key Exports First Artboard By Default
After selecting an artboard range to export, hitting the enter key as a method to export the artboard range results in the first artboard being exported, not the range selected.

Save As... (PDF) not recorded in Action
After upgrading to 24.1 and macOS Catalina "Save As..." isn't recorded anymore in an Action.
I used to have an Action which saves any layout as a PDF, always stored the PDF with the same name in a fixed location and closed the file. Now this doesn't work anymore.
I can "Insert Menu Option" Save As but then I have to enter a name and choose a file format.
Such a shame!

Edit just the path when text is on path
Editing the path, independently of the the text on the path is no longer possible. For the last couple decades, I could place text on a path, then I would select the direct select tool (group select via key modifier) and click just on the path to select just the path. Then, I would switch to the regular selection tool. At this point the handles for scaling an object would become visible. Then I could scale or distort the path, independently of the text. About 2 or 3 years ago, Illustrator was suddenly no longer able to do this. At this point, the only way to edit the path independently of the text is to go into the transform palette, unconstrain proportions, then type numbers, or use cursor keys to adjust the size or shape of the path. It's really, really tedious. Plus, as soon as you touch the cursor key, the text shifts to the side or bottom of a circular path and you have to slide the text back to the top. I was hoping this would get resolved on it's own at some point but it seems that it's not getting resolved.

Separations preview imac 5k very slow
There is some problem with Overprint preview turned on, everything becomes verry laggy. I'm on iMac 2019 27" with 40gb of RAM, SSD drive, no plugins. No matter which document is opened, the problem is same - very slow illustrator movement.
Only sollution is to run Illustrator in Low Resolution mode, then the problem does not exist.

Selecting a second image with a marquee doesn’t include it in the bounding box
The problem here is with image objects. It matters how you select them. If you select them the wrong way, you get no selection handles, or scaling handles.
Using just the regular selection tool, if you Shift + drag over one image object to select it, then shift drag over another image object, you get no selection handles for scaling. If you shift drag over both image objects you also get no selection handles.
If you shift and click on one image object, then shift click the other, it works fine.
If you drag a single selection over both image objects it works fine.If you are selecting a vector object and an image object, it only works properly if you first select the image object. As long as the image object is selected first, it doesn't matter how you do the selection, clicking or dragging. It always works. But, if you select the vector object first, it will only work if you click on the vector object first, then shift click on the image object. Or, drag a single selection over vector, then image object next.

Editing Pattern Swatch + Saving = Crash (unsaved, unrecovered)
After creating a new pattern swatch with about a dozen objects, I double click the swatch to change the pattern settings. Either of the following scenarios cause Illustrator to crash EVERY TIME, using ANY of the last 3 versions of Illustrator:
— hitting Command+S to exit pattern editor while saving
— double clicking to exit, and then hitting Command+S at any point afterwardsTLDR; hitting Command+S anytime AFTER editing a pattern swatch is crashing Illustrator
I've replicated this issue about 2 dozen times now across all 3 most recent builds of Illustrator available through CC.
I haven't yet tried saving through the menu, so I don't know if it's isolated to just the keyboard shortcut.
I have found one annoying work-around: copy the objects I want to build the pattern from, past them into a new, blank document, create pattern swatch, edit swatch, apply to shape, copy shape, paste back into original document. If I perform those steps, I can save without crashing Illustrator. Obviously not an ideal scenario as you want to edit your patterns in proximity to the art you are applying them to.After creating a new pattern swatch with about a dozen objects, I double click the swatch to change the pattern settings. Incorrect Transform Resizing
When I resize an object in Illustrator by typing the exact number in the dimensions box it reverts it to be slightly off.
For example (Attached images follow my example explanation below):
I have a logo that is 2012.13px wide that I need to be 2000px wide. I should be able to simply type 2000px in the transform width box, but when I do it reverts it to 1999.998px wide. If I type in 2000px again it will stay at 1999.998px. The only way around it that I have found is to change it to something drastically different like 1000px width and then change it to the 2000px width. Then it finally sticks at the desired width of 2000px.I would like to say this is just a minor bug that I could deal with and just always have to manually adjust this multiple times to get it to stick. However, I also have a script that I often run that needs to size objects to a specific width or height and this same bug occurs. My script is set up to the exact diminsions in the code and is exhibiting the exact same errors that I see when working manually which means I dont have a user error with my code or script, this is a larger bug with Illustrator.
Another thing that might be helpful for getting this bug resolved: I have found this error to occur most often when I am working on resizing grouped objects that contain vector shapes as well as text boxes with text.
I am running Version 10.15.2 mac OS Catalina and also have the most updated version of Illustrator 2020.

"Save As" dialog box not focused
OSX Catalina 10.15; Illustrator 24.0.1 with Creative Cloud 5.0.0.354
Safari, Mail, and Notes open in backgroundSometimes after using CMD+SHIFT+S to open Save As dialog, the dialog box will not be focused; filename will not be highlighted; TAB will not cycle through input fields; ESC will not close dialog box. Clicking somewhere on the box is the only way I've found to make it responsive as normal. After doing so, I can close the dialog with ESC; re-entering the keyboard shortcut afterwards tends to result in expected behavior, but sometimes the problem repeats. The keyboard shortcut should immediately open the dialog and focus the filename.
I haven't been able to reliably reproduce the problem. It's happened with several filetypes, all saved to the user folder on the system drive, with and without other apps open, with files that were heavily edited and files whose only change was to the filename. When saving multiple files one after the other, without going to a different app, some may have the problem and others may not.OSX Catalina 10.15; Illustrator 24.0.1 with Creative Cloud 5.0.0.354

Remebering fractional values in Extrude & Bevel
You can type in fractional values in Extrude & Bevel and they work fine, although AI rounds them up immediately in fields, though applies to the art.
But when you try to save this appearance in Graphic style and then re-apply to another art, all fractional bits are gone, AI treats them as integers both ways.5 votesHi,
Sorry about the issue, but the feature works that ways.
1) On applying Effects in fractional values, it gets applied immediately. While saving this appearance in Graphic style and then re-apply to another art it will work the same (as with fractional values)
2) While trying to edit already applied effects, the input details get’s rounded off. As a result, you have to enter fractional values for the precision.
I hope this info will be helpful.
Incase you still face any issue get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.htmlThanks

Preferences reset whenever Illustrator freezes/crashes
Illustrator freezes or crashes 1 to 2 times a day. I use it for 8 hours a day at work. When it freezes, I have to force quit with Task Manager. I'm using 2020, and I had this exact issue with 2019. However with 2020, whenever it freezes and I force quit, once I open Illustrator again all of my preferences are back to default. These preferences include: custom Keyboard Shortcuts, the workspace, boxes that have been checked (e.g. the Preview box in Envelope Distort).

Optimize file open & Save Time on slow networks PDF issue
With this option turned on, editing a PDF in illustrator with form fields, attachments, or other pages causes them to be erased completely- leaving the main page only and form fields completely gone. It only happens on-network. Locally it will retain all other information.

Save As PDF Issue
I am trying to save a file in Illustrator 2020 the same way I've always saved PDF files in older versions of Illustrator for Print. I select PDF x-1a and select document bleeds is the only change I make. It saves fine but when I go to look at the file I get the attached error. I don't understand why I receive this error in this version when I've never experienced this in previous versions taking the exact same file saving steps. i've tried multiple pdf preset options but still experiencing issue.
Update: Currently the only preset I can save is "Illustrator Default" - obviously this is not ideal.

The process of activating fonts in illustrator is taking way too long. Is there a way to make the process faster?

No touchpad gestures on Windows 10 devices (with precision touchpad)
Gestures on the touchpad are currently not supported in nearly all Adobe CC Apps, Illustrator being one of them.
On Windows 10, there is no way to scroll diagonally on a touchpad, nor can you use a "pinch to zoom (in/out)" gesture. Scrolling is limited to horizontal and vertical dimensions, there is no panning.
I'm using a Surface Book 2. With its touchscreen, I am able to use these gestures. On the touchpad however, this isn't possible.
My workflow is heavily slowed down by this. I've been using a Macbook before and all gestures were supported - why isn't that the case on Windows?
Microsoft provides precision touchpad drivers for many devices. These drivers create a great touchpad experience on any device using them. It's the way forward for Windows 10 laptops. Many programs use this, so there is no excuse why Adobe couldn't.
I would love being able to use these gestures. They would speed up everyone's workflow significantly and create an ease of use I come to expect from all of the Adobe CC Apps.
In Adobe XD, these gestures are available, although they are aren't smooth and a bit unresponsive. I'd suggest to fix those ones too.

An unknown error has occured
Windows 10, Enterprise
I was working on a file, and have been saving file regularly in between. But on one artboard when am placing an object, i am not able to save the file. Error pops up. I tried to snip the object and placed it as image still error is popping.
I tried locking and unlocking layers, no use.
And if i remove tat from art board, i am able to save. What sort of error is that, am not understanding.
This is like the file has reached a limit, if we add one more object or image or anything, it wont let me save and error pops up.
Please help sort this out. I guess am not the only one facing this issue.Windows 10, Enterprise

Freeform gradient fill disappears on select all action
- OS: Windows Version: 10.0 System Architecture: x64 Illustrator v 23.0.6 (64-bit)
- I used a freeform gradient fill to fill a path and upon doing a select all to group a few different paths and shapes for easier movement or duplication, the fill of the path disappears and I need to either rebuilt the gradient or re-load the file as even doing CTRL+Z doesn't bring back the gradient
- The expected result is that the gradient remains as it was when doing a select all (Either through CTRL+A or using the Selection Tool)
- The Fill for the path disappears and the freeform gradients of all other shapes and paths are messed up.
