Way too many anchorpoints after expanding strokes or using the 'Blob Brush' tool
Years and years ago something changed in Pathfinder commands, and when expanding the results contained many more anchor points than in the version before. I submitted a workflow and was told this could not be corrected in the next version and possibly not even in the version after that. It took years to get better, and it was still not as good as in CS2 (yes).
Now, expanding strokes or even using the 'Blob Brush' results in so, so many anchor points that an immediate 'Simplify' is required to create usable designs. Using both the 'Pen' tool and all other tools, I find the intuitive tools such as the 'Blob Brush' crucial to create artwork and to combine functionality. It feels like going back to when things went wrong. You can't possibly ask people to use 'Simplify' after each stroke, this decreases productivity and creativity.
I attach the result of the 'Blob Brush' in Illustrator 2022 and 2026, and the result of an expanded path in the same versions.
The settings for the 'Blob Brush' tool are the same in both Illustrator versions; set to absolute smoothness, so this really should not happen. When will this be solved? Please solve this.

Artboard Width & Height inputs vanished from the top Control panel / bar
Input fields to resize artboards were removed from upper tool bar. PUT IT BACK.
Now to access the width and height you must go to the Properties panel. Why are we making extra steps? Fix this3 votes -
[Bug] Perceptual Gradients change from CMYK to a RGB conversion of CMYK?
When I create a white to black gradient in CMYK mode as classic and it looks fine when separations previewed. When I change to peceptual it adds color in the areas from about 1% to 99% and does not stay black only. I tried it with 100% cyan to white and it added magenta and yellow in the same areas.

Color assets from Libraries cannot be applied to objects in Illustrator 30.0 (2026)
After updating to Illustrator 2026, clicking a color swatch from the Libraries panel no longer applies the color to selected objects. The color swatch highlights but does not change the object’s fill or stroke.
- Drag-and-drop from Libraries to objects or the Swatches panel does nothing.
- Issue occurs with fill and/or stroke targeted.
- Behavior worked normally in previous Illustrator versions
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Illustrator 2026.
2. Open the Libraries panel (Window → Libraries).
3. Select an object on the artboard.
4. Click a color swatch in Libraries.Expected result:
The object’s fill or stroke should change to the selected color.Actual result:
No color change occurs; color cannot be applied in any way.Workarounds tested:
- Restarted app and system.
- Tried Alt/Option-drag, doesn’t work.
- Tried creating new Library and new document, same issue.
- Legacy Libraries panel unavailable by default.Environment:
- Illustrator 2026 (build 30.0)
- macOS (Sequoia 15.6.1)

Illustrator 2026 (30.0) saved files contain a large amount of blank space.
OS: windows 21H2
Adobe Illustrator 2026 (30.0) (desktop)In Adobe Illustrator 2026 (version 30.0), files saved with default settings are significantly larger than those from the previous version. Before saving, the action “Delete Unused Panel Items” is executed to remove all unnecessary elements (the Save Options panel as Figure 1).
A comparison of file sizes with version 29 (with identical content, Figure 2) confirms this increase. When the file is opened as a text document (Figure 3), it reveals a substantial amount of whitespace.3 votes -
Illustrator deletes macOS tags when file is stored on an SMB Synology server
When I save an existing document on an SMB Synology server Illustrator removes/deletes the macOS tags assigned to the file.
macOS 26.0.1, Illustrator 30.0, tested on SMB server: Windows 2019 and Synology.

Illustrator 2026 adds a previously selected object to a newly selected one when moving the new one
macOS Sequoia 15.6
Illustrator 30.0Just selecting and moving basic objects is not functioning correctly. Was this tested at all? I've restarted the app, I've restarted my machine. It's just buggy AF. I've had to revert to previous version just to get a simple chart done.

Phantom objects in Finder Preview and when imported into Photoshop
I'm on MacOS. When previewing an .ai file in Finder, there will often times be phantom objects visible in Finder Preview. These objects are always duplicates of whatever is actually visible on the artboard-- usually it's a phantom object in the position the object was in the last time I saved the file. When I open the .ai file in Illustrator, those objects do not exist. The objects are not hidden; they are not on some other layer. This is particularly problematic because those phantom objects are still there if I open the .ai file in Photoshop. If I add the .ai file as a Smart Object layer in my Photoshop file, the phantom objects are there. If I attempt to edit that Smart Object, Illustrator opens up and shows the phantom objects are not there. Saving and closing DOES NOT FIX IT. Sometimes toggling the visibility of the Illustrator layer the objects are on and then saving fixes it. Sometimes toggling to outline mode fixes it. Sometimes moving the .ai from one folder to another, brings the phantom objects back. Why is this happening? How do I make it stop?

When moving object it counts as hundreds of inputs, filling the history
When you move an object with the mouse, it seems to consider each pixel or so it moves as an individual input, so if you just quickly drag something, your history is completely filled and it is impossible to undo enough to undo the single move. It also shows up as 'Undo' in the history tab rather than 'move' - only the final one is considered 'move'.

File names are broken on macOS scripts
Bug reproduction:
#target illustrator var file = File.openDialog("Select any file", "All files:*.*"); var message = 'Results\nfile.name: "' + file.name + '"\nfile.displayName: "' + file.displayName + '"\nfile.localizedName: "' + file.localizedName + '"'; alert(message);Save this as a script, run it in Illustrator on macOS and select any file.
Expected outcome: An alert is displayed with all of the name attributes are populated
Actual outcome: displayName and localizedName give empty string and undefined.Tested on macOS 15.7.1, Illustrator v29.8.2. Same script works on Windows 11.

Images and Shadows Not Rendering Correctly
I am having issues with build 29.8.2.
When I link photos to my artboards and add drop shadows to shapes or objects, the display is not rendering them. It will show them, but if I move or zoom out, sometimes they go away. And if I export my artboards, these issues carry over. The images dont export, there is just a grey circle where that masked image is supposed to be. And shadows from one object to the next are different, just not even there. How can I fix this?3 votes -
Home and End buttons in Find and Replace misbehave
Pressing Home and End buttons in all Find and Replace input fields should properly place the cursor at the start and the end of the text, instead of picking first and last values from the dropdown lists (like in happens in the Font Browser).
Home and End should pick the first/last items ONLY when the dropdowns are expanded!3 votes -
Artboard label not included in exported image's name
In the past when I export just an artboard the image name had both the file name and artboard name in it's name. Now it stopped. FIX THIS PLEASE

Spell check error - changes language to Bulgarian
Spell Check starts in English for the first few then always changes to Bulgarian! This renders spell check absolutely useless, unless I happen to type in Bulgarian... which I haven't had the need to so far.

Threaded Type not scaling correctly
Mac Pro (2019, Intel), MacOS 15.6.1, Illustrator 29.7.1
After the update to version 29.7.1, the text in linked type objects does not scale (using the Scale tool) or scales disproportionately (using the Selection tool).
The Free Transform Tool currently appears to be the only way to scale these objects together while keeping the type size proportional to the objects being scaled.
The issue occurs in new and existing documents.
See thread here for more details: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/type-not-scaling-correctly-in-linked-type-objects/m-p/15492486

Stroke issues with text containers when exporting into SVG
When exporting to SVG, text frames are interpreted as separate entities and inherit stroke/fill attributes from the text or group they are in. This results in unwanted strokes around the text frame itself. With other formats there are no issues.
Attached a native-export-png and a result of a svg-export-png.
