1. illustrator bug erasing files

   I save all files locally. Yesterday i made a 'v2' of a project, saved in the same location as the 'v1', had both opened and worked on the v2, and exported PNGs from it to use in another app (saved frequently between edits). Today I discovered the PNGs and v1 are still in the folder, but not the v2.

   It is not listed in my Mac's 'recent files', it doens not turn up in search, it is not in the cloud storage, i did not use an external, and I also did not accidentally erase the file-go into the trash- and accidentally erased it again for good.

   Is anyone else beginning to experience files just dropping off the face of their computer? This only started for me after the previous Illustrator error of 'an all black screen when having more than one file open' stopped.

2. Alignement of neighboring objects

   Hi, when I used to move my objects on artboard, there used to be lanes and alignments automatically showing me when two objects on the artboard are in alignment with a green line. However, I can't see that feature anymore, it just happened since yesterday. very frustrating. Is this a bug, or is this due to some settings issue?

   In case someone can’t see these, check these:

   1. Disable Snap to Grid

   2. Enable Smart Guides

   3. Make sure you have Spacing Guides option turned on in Preferences > Smart Guides

3. "Export As..." is generating poor quality images

   Using "Export As" to generate JPG or PNG file is having poor quality results recently, photos look grainy. In order to get the quality that is expected, you now have to go back to using "Save for Web (Legacy)" feature

4. Trying to apply an opacity mask on an object with a freeform gradient makes it disappear

   I have an object with a freeform gradient and I'm trying to clip that with some text (which has been converted to a shape). Although it seems to work initially, after switching back form mask to the object layer, the object disappears completely.

5. Can’t align all objects within group

   Hello,
   I've seen that this is claimed that it is fixed on a previous update, but I have the latest (24.2.3) and still have issues.

   Situation:
   4 text layers in a 2nd level subgroup
   Selection of three out of four layers and the Align/Distribute is working as expected (align to Selection selected)
   Selection of all four layers (or group layer) and the Tool isn't working on 'Align to Selection' basis. It's working correctly as 'Align to Artboard'

   How am I supposed to align all layers in a Group? The only workaround is to align all layers but one and then align the remaining layer alone..

6. Window not showing

   From the Finder (MacOS X 10.15.4), I open a n illustrator Document. The app comes forward and I see a black screen. The "Window" menu tells me that the document is open BUT where? I don't see it (nope, I don't have a second monitor). Close the invisible window and the Window menu shows nothing open. Try again, from the finder and again, no windows look opened. Try from Illustrator, File/Open: same thing, another fail. Quit app, relaunch app by launching doc from the Finder. now the file opens as it should. Close file, try again. Back to the black screen. This started happening after this morning's (04/21/2020) update.

7. The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [>MIT]

   I get the error "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [>MIT]" and once I hit the ok button it closes down. I have uninstalled three times, wiped all preferences, restarted the computer. Nothing I am doing is working. Help! TIA

8. Editing Pattern Swatch + Saving = Crash (unsaved, unrecovered)

   After creating a new pattern swatch with about a dozen objects, I double click the swatch to change the pattern settings. Either of the following scenarios cause Illustrator to crash EVERY TIME, using ANY of the last 3 versions of Illustrator:
   — hitting Command+S to exit pattern editor while saving
   — double clicking to exit, and then hitting Command+S at any point afterwards

   TLDR; hitting Command+S anytime AFTER editing a pattern swatch is crashing Illustrator

   I've replicated this issue about 2 dozen times now across all 3 most recent builds of Illustrator available through CC.
   I haven't yet tried saving through the menu, so I don't know if it's isolated to just the keyboard shortcut.
   I have found one annoying work-around: copy the objects I want to build the pattern from, past them into a new, blank document, create pattern swatch, edit swatch, apply to shape, copy shape, paste back into original document. If I perform those steps, I can save without crashing Illustrator. Obviously not an ideal scenario as you want to edit your patterns in proximity to the art you are applying them to.

9. Illustrator not allowing file saving bug

   The Save or Save As functions aren't working. After going to File and selecting either one, nothing happens. I'm left with work unsaved and at risk of losing. This hasn't happened before and I have been using illustrator perfectly for the last 6 months.

   I have a MacBook Air, macOS catalina version 10.15.5.

   I have Adobe Illustrator 2020.

10. Display Issue ?

    Having very odd display issues, (see attached files) basically I draw a curved shape in outline, this views correctly, then view it in overprint mode, this views correctly, view it in standard mode and it is awful, I've tried restart/making a new document etc etc, still views awful ????

    please advise..... don't ask me to work in overprint preview as one of my others posts states, that is ridiculously slow.

12. Select Same Stroke Weight does not.

    2019 iMac running OS 10.15.4, AI CC 23.1.1

    Shouldn't "Select Same ***" actually select ALL the items identical to the one item selected? I am working on a master file for Nutrition Facts panels, and cannot truly select every rule that is of a particular weight. REALLY Frustrating!

13. Saving documents

    Please restore the save parameters. Or at least give a prompt if the save gets interrupted. My saves keep getting interrupted and I often loose the changes to the original file if I have to save as a different format, like a PDF. It's been very problematic and I have had to reproduce my original files once I lose the changes while trying to save a low-res PDF, for example. Thank you!

14. Josef Pro font disappears as you type

    I am trying to type the word "Communications" in Adobe Illustrator. If I use any other font, it types fine and looks fine. When I use Josef Pro, the "ti" goes missing and only shows "Coomuncaons". When I change from Josef Pro to any other font, I can see the "TI". I tried this is other applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and this problem does not happen. It's definitely an issue with Illustrator.
    Unfortunately, I cannot use another font because our company logo uses this Josef font.
    Please help.

15. Expanded Layers Slows Performance

    Illustrator 24.2.3 (64bit)
    Windows 10 Pro

    What the title says. If I expand my top layer in the layers palette and try to edit the text on an artboard using my keyboard arrow keys to navigate the cursor, the cursor is super laggy.

    If I collapse the top layer and navigate the text inside the boxes, the cursor is much faster.

    Expanded layers seems to take up much more processing power ...to the point I can barely scrub through the text.

16. Keyboard modifiers no longer work with Transform panel

    Up until the latest release of Illustrator, pressing Command-Return after entering a new height or width for an object in the Transform panel would scale it proportionately. This no longer works and pressing Return does nothing if any modifier key is held down. The same is true for holding Option while pressing Return (this used to transform as a duplicate but has not worked for a while). Having to manually turn on the link button or disable it every time is very tedious. According to your own reference pages for keyboard shortcuts in Illustrator it is meant to be working, but does not.

17. Pattern shifts around in PDF file when zooming in

    When making something with a pattern, I heard and saw that when I save it as a PDF, the pattern starts shifting around when I zoom in.

    I save my files always as Smallest File Size.

19. Refresh problems in Trim View - Illustrator 24.0

    I'm not sure this is exclusive to GPU, but in Trim View sometimes when working with content, it stops refreshing properly and causing anomalies on screen

20. Saving a file should not highlight the extension

    When saving (copy, exporting, etc), the save box highlights the extension. This should not happen. Soon as you choose a different format, the extension is no longer highlighted (which is good and how it should be). The extension should not be highlighted. This Illustrator bug happened after the Mac Catalina update.
