1. Ai crashed and the recovered file is missing changes made in last 2 hours

   Illustrator just crashed after 10 hours of work!!!!!! It recovered the file, but only at the stage I was probably at after just 2 hours — the rest is completely lost! I checked everything, and it saved approximately nothing!!!! I'm furious right now!

2. Using Random Size Calligraphic Brush inside of a group/layer with an effect applied makes Ai pick only one size for each brush tip

   If a layer or a group has an level effect applied (in this case it’s Transform, for creating symmetric designs), then Ai doesn’t apply random size for the calligraphy brush tips created with Brush tool inside this group/layer — but does it outside of this group / on a normal layer.

   Take a look at the test file attached and the GIF recorded.
   Clicking with Brush tool randomizes the size for the first object created in Layer 1 (with the effect applied), but each consequential click makes points with same thickness.
   But when the same happens on Layer 2, with no effect applied, each tip is random.

3. Toggling Scale Stroke & Effects from Properties panel crashes Ai instantly

   Selecting the arrow artwork in the attached file and toggling the Scale Stroke & Effects option from the Transform section’s dropdown in Properties panel crashes Ai instantly, on MacOS Ventura 13.7.6, M2 Pro — like it happens in the attached video.

   Using the same option in Preferences works fine.

4. CMYK-Werte im Farbwähler werden nach „Ohne Farbe“ in RGB umgewandelt – trotz CMYK-Dokument

   Ich arbeite in einem Illustrator-Dokument im CMYK-Farbmodus. Wenn ich die Flächenfarbe eines Objekts auf „Ohne Farbe“ setze und danach über den Farbwähler neue CMYK-Werte eingebe, wandelt Illustrator diese automatisch in RGB-Farben um – obwohl das Dokument und die Farbeinstellungen vollständig auf CMYK eingestellt sind.
   Das Problem tritt seit Kurzem in allen neuen und bestehenden Dateien auf, auch nach Zurücksetzen der Voreinstellungen und Neuinstallation.
   Der Fehler lässt sich jederzeit reproduzieren:

   The difference in the group structure in Illustrator causes a difference between the rendering result
   Even if a page knockout group is set, Illustrator will not perform knockout processing for group that unchecked knockout groups and will process in blending mode. However, when outputting a PDF, all objects are written out in a knockout. It is difficult to say which is correct, but it seems to me that the range of expression would be expanded if the setting to deny knockouts for groups were also enabled for PDF export.

6. 29.1.0 'Isolate selected group' menu item missing on right click menu when a nested group is selected.

   Illustrator version 29.1.0
   Windows 10.0.19045

   To replicate:

   1. Create group that contains a group
   2. Select group
   3. Right click the group
   4. 'Isolate selected group' menu item missing. In its place is the new 'Ungroup all' item.

   When the above actions are performed to a group without a nested group, the 'Isolate selected group' menu item appears as it should.

8. Greek text now keep accents with All Caps and is not consistent with UPPERCASE result

   This has to do with the new update where all files previously created using Greek language using CAPS now all have accents. Now every time we need to change the language to Greek for accents to disappear. I'm sure this will be an issue for greeks around the world.

9. Spots and Globals are converted into process colors when included into Swatch Info

   If we pick several spot or global color swatches to display in Swatch Info, the resulting color chips won’t be using the actual swatches picked — these would become process color copies — while Ink Types are shown as 'Spot' for spots... which are not... and no information about some being 'Global'.

   I realize this connection would have to be monitored, refreshing cards when a swatch is changed...
   But this is what is expected. This is what scripts that offer a similar functionality do.

   If we choose to convert these into process colors, we can just can select one and press the button in the Color panel... yeah, it won’t work for several of these selected, but that’s another problem.

   Ai Beta now keeps spot and global swatches intact when used in Swatch Info. Changing swatches gets updated on canvas, both in values displayed and the color.

10. Javacript locking embeded image

    In Illustrator 29.1 this script worked just fine. I place an image, move it, name it, lock it and embed it. But in 29.3 this code gives an error message: It says that it cannot operate on a locked layer, BUT it still locks the placed item. If I move the lock to after the embed, the lock does not happen. So this code no longer works in 29.3.

    I think its weird in 29.1 that you were allowed to lock the placeditem before you embed it, but it doesn't work if you lock it afterwards.

    We are using macos 15.1.1 (and 15.3.1). I have verified that this code functions on 29.1 and fails on 29.3. We have verified this across multiple desktop computers.

    We found this issue in a much larger code base, but I was able to extract this down to this code chunk below.

    The issue is reported to be fixed in the latest Pre-release build 29.4.130.

    The provided script should now work without any error dialog, as before.

13. A group with any Warp effect applied to it fails to render hidden objects within when these are shown back

    When an image with 3 or more layers is grouped together then an arch effect is added to that group, the layer visibility toggle behaves strangely in a way where the layers disappear but do not reappear. once the layer visibility is back to on but the image cannot be seen Illustrator will allow you to click and drag the area to grab the "hidden" layer but it is now only an outline with no color fill until you move it. or refill the color. This is a feature we have used for years and never had an issue until recently (April 2025)

14. Adding new anchors with Pen tool when Snap to Grid is enabled is treated wrong and inconsistently

    Illustrator allows to snap stuff to grid, but really doesn’t love doing it (here’s a request about the tolerance and how it’s to harsh in general: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49616738)

    Here in a GIF I’m creating a simple path with anchors placed on a grid. After closing the shape, I decide to add several points in-between, and have them on the grid as well... but the only anchor I can place normally is the one in the middle, that happen to be exactly (within an unknow tolerance) at the intersection of the grid lines (and the cursor gets a + to indicate adding would happen).

    But for some reason when I try to add an anchor within the magenta circle... a new path gets started.
    Well, OK, the path is too far from the grid node, I guess...
    But then I try to add a point below the one I was able to place — and it gets added! ...even though it’s not on a grid node at all, but at a grid line... OK, but this happens only if I am zoomed out enough, because if I zoom in — it won’t happen, the tolerance hit is detected in the screen space. And even if I try to add an anchor on a path at a grid line intentionally — Ai won’t let me.

    So what we have to do, is to disable Snap to Grid, place points, enable the snapping back, and move each point to snap to grid line intersection again.

    This differs from how snapping to grid happens in other editors. If I try the same in Affinity Designer (using Node tool) — it will offer me to place new anchor on intersections with grid lines, like the second GIF shows.
    I am also told Fontlab catches a mouse click to see if it hits a path first, then adds the anchor, and only then snaps it to the grid — and it makes practical sense as well.

    Perhaps start loving grids?

15. Black table screen

    With the latest Windows update, every time I open or create a new file, the desktop screen goes black. I tried uninstalling the latest version and reverting to previous versions, and the same thing happens.
    My computer is an HP Pavilion.
    Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics 2.00 GHz.
    Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.4 GB usable).
    System type: 64-bit operating system, x64 processor.

16. Illustrator reverts all the work done and doesn’t allow to expand

    It’s just I'm doing work — and it reverts back to the start of my process and isn’t saving the work I work on as I go.
    Also it doesn’t let me expand shapes and sizes.

    When using Adobe Illustrator 2025, there is a delay and lag when copying. When performing a Ctrl+C copy of graphics or text, or when manually dragging, there is a delay and lag in the response, and the copy does not appear immediately. If a zoom operation is performed during a Ctrl+C copy, the delay and lag become even more pronounced.

18. Share and Review Pin Function is not working

    Various Operating Systems Mac and PC. Various users.
    Illustrator Desktop V 29.8.2
    Trying to markup a Share for Review document
    Trying to add a pin and the pin tool does not show up and when I add the comment it just adds it as "unmapped".

19. Move/Copy doesn’t remember last used settings

    When using Move/Rotate tool multiple times, UI 'remembers' last setting (helpful).

    When using Move/Copy tool, it not only doesn't remember previous setting, it seems to randomly create new settings (not helpful).

20. Applescript—cannot save Illustrator file if embedding ICC profiles

    This is a bug, as verified by this post (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/there-is-a-problem-with-saving-as-illustrator-using-applescript/m-p/15287552) and this post (https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/applescript-cannot-embed-icc-profiles-in-illustrator-save-options/m-p/15032019#M429674). I cannot save an Illustrator file as part of an AppleScript if ICC profiles are being embedded. This is a problem because I can no longer use my Applescripts for creating versions of logo files.

    The following code will fail with the error "Cannot get document 1". The error occurs when the save command’s with options parameter is a record containing a embed icc profile property.

    save document 1 in filePath as Illustrator with options {embed icc profile:true}
    I have verified that a) the ICC profile was already embedded in the source document, and that if I save the file via the GUI, checking the box to save the ICC profile works. Using AppleScript to save the Illustrator file does not retain the ICC profile.

    This fails on macOS 14.5 and Illustrator 27.x and 28.5. It also fails on macOS 15.4 and Illustrator 29.5.0. It also fails on macOS 15.3.2 and Illustrator 28.7.6 and 29.5.

    According to another user, JavaScript works properly. However, JavaScript is not a workaround for me.

    saveOptions.embedICCProfile = true;
