  1. Illustrator loses gradient fills from PDFs, generated in InDesign

    We have an issue with an InDesign PDF Press Quality opened in Illustrator...

    Our InDesign file is OK. The PDF PRESS exported from InDesign is OK.
    Both are showing a gradient type below the black type and print well on our XEROX proofer (see file PDF from InDesign).

    When we open this PDF PRESS in Illustrator, the gradient type below the black type disappear (see file PDF from InDesign opened in Illustrator).
    We tried with regular type and outlined type in InDesign. Same results.

    PDF Press is also attached.

    The workaround was to export the InDesign file as an EPS…

    Hi Everyone,

    The fix has been rolled out and is available in our latest release build – 29.3.0 which is available worldwide now.

    Illustrator will now keep gradient fills applied to objects in imported PDFs, generated by InDesign.

  3. Pasting in front (ctrl+f) places objects outside of the sublayer I am working in.

    When I am working in a document I quite often copy and use ctrl+f to paste a duplicate in the same location so that I can just slide it sideways, negating the need for me to locate the object using both X and Y. In one of the recent updates this function has broken somewhat. It has been a nuisance for a while that it tries to paste in the layer it was copied from, but now it does the complete opposite, even when I am in a layer it always pastes outside, unless I select the layer between every…

  4. missing id in exported svg

    When I export the attached .ai file to svg, the result does not contain the id of the r14 rectangle.
    Before you say "well just add it in manually", please consider that this is a simplified version and that the real thing would contain dozens, even hundreds of objects.
    Note that I am not using the artboard. The idea is to use this svg to be animated by the GreenSock javascript library.

  5. Unable to apply gradient along or across a stroke

    Trying to make a cylindrical/tubular structure with form.
    In gradient window, when selecting to apply the gradient either within, along or across the stroke, one gets the same result. A vertically oriented gradient which has nothing to do with the stroke. Quite frustrating. even if one changes the orientation, it does absolutely nothing.
    This is the reason why I upgraded. What a disappointment! And I see from the web that I'm not alone.

  6. All Typekit fonts unavailable

    All of a sudden Typekit stopped working through Illustrator/Photoshop. I cannot open the CC app on my desktop either. I cannot uninstall it nor reinstall it as none of these functions will work. I am effectively frozen out of my desktop CC app and typekit. When I access Typekit via the webpage it shows my snyced fonts but I cannot access them on my desktop (PC). I am unable to complete my work. I have been troubleshooting this since Monday and would like to talk one on one with someone who can talk me through what to do. I am…

  7. Illustrator Distortion of Template and final art

    Yesterday morning or 3 prepress PC opened a billboard template, and it appeared distorted (Sketch Look). We checked all preferences and setting in both Illustrator and Windows and found no problems. Had artist build the billboard anyway. When the art was checked the numbers on the top and sides of the board extended beyond the live and bleed area. When doubled clicked on they came back within normal parameters.   9. Font Size resets to 12pt when new font family is chosen

    Changing font face also changes font size.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Select text with text selector tool
    2. Select a new font face from the font face drop down menu

    Expected results: font face changes while all other font properties remain the same.
    Actual result: font face and font size properties change.
    Using Illustrator v22.1

  10. svg not opening correctly in Illustrator CC

    When opening a .svg file Illustrator (creative cloud 2018) is opening a blank canvas. However a co-worker who is working off a previous version of illustrator (2015 I think) is able to open the file correctly.

  11. Save for web - image size percentage not working

    When using save for web option, the image size percentage is not changing even when a new number is put in there. It is only saving as 100%. Sometimes it allows me to increase the percentage, but more times then less it saves as 100% no matter what number I type in there. I am using the creative cloud version.

  12. Vectors rendered too thick on screen

    Since the update to 22.1, all vector lines are being rendered too thickly on screen. Compare any lines drawn in AI with how they appear when printed out - they are inaccurately rendered on screen. Illustrator is a vector application, it cannot be displaying vectors with such poor quality on screen.

  13. Type Object Selection by Path Only not working correctly

    When a Type Object is rotated, Ai selects it when the pointer is clicked in side the bounding box of the rotated object, even when Selection by Path Only is active.

  14. Flickering cursor icon and Unresponsiveness (High Sierra 10.13.4)

    Got a new Mac running 10.13.4, installed adobe CC completely fresh. Illustrator is very slow, often comes to a complete stall / irresponsive, and I have to constantly restart the application. And even after the restart, it is still very slow. I turned off everything, including the GPU performance and other things it didn't help at all. The cursor flickers for several tools. It has become very unuseable and drag the time I normally would be able to finish a project by 2x at least.

    Can you please check if Dictation is on your MAC. We are aware of an issue where Dictation software was interfering.
    If this does not work, please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

  15. Brush won't change to basic

    When drawing in cc 2018 on macOS High Sierra version 10.13.4. Program will not allow me to select basic brush. it defaults to 3pt round or a bristle brush. If I delete that brush it won't allow to draw anything. Need to restart and still won't allow me to select basic brush.

  16. Selection tool Lagging and moving objects on click- High Sierra (macOS 10.13)

    I have been an illustrator user since 2000.

    After this most recent update I noticed that when I use the Selection Tool (V) . The item, image, line, vector group, no matter what I click, begins to lag and then automatically jumps to the location of my mouse, Thought I simply clicked the item to select it and then moved my mouse, not clicked and dragged. The object reacts as though I clicked and dragged, so I am forced to select an object, let the bug run it's course, and then hit cmd +Z to undo the unintentional move.

  17. Eyedropper tool doing whatever it wants

    For example. when using alt click (as for copying the style of what I have selected to another thing. It DELETES ALL STYLE from the thing I'm clicking on. When I click normally it just copies color (sometimes) and even though I have everything checked in the eyedropper tool setting. It just copies just color.

    This is making me wast a lot of time
    I already updated the software AND also did a fresh reinstall, even deleting settings. Didn't work.

  18. Variable font remains static

    I've been working on various variable fonts, which, while there are sometimes are some GPU rendering issues in Illustrator, work as expected.

    However, my last creation remains static while changing the variable (see example). The font variation works perfectly in online environments, it's only in Adobe apps that this seems to be an issue.

  19. Changing size in export doesn't change size

    When exporting files via Save As, if I change the size, it doesn't update the actual export size until I do something else, like toggle the clip to artboard on and off or change from optimize for Art to for type. This has been a persistent error across versions of Illustrator and MacOS for some time.

    Once you hit tab to leave that portion of the export dialogue, it should update without any additional steps.

  20. Drag, alt, and resizing are all working incorrectly & create new non-existent objects

    Items I select and resize seem to adjust from arbitrary points that appear, unrelated to the shape of the geometry. Attached, is a screenshot where I changed the scale of the blue diamond. The other green selected box doesn't actually exist, but is now included in the geometry of the original. If you group an object which has one of these phantoms, it will stay in the group indefinitely. Additionally, the alt-drag feature creates many duplicates. If you're scaling using the alt-command, it will work for a second and then start duplicating.
