1. Open in Illustrator Desktop in Fresco not working

   I am in Fresco, click "Publish & Export" and "Open a Copy" in Desktop Illustrator. 9 out of 10 times nothing happens.

2. Very laggy zooming in and out using mouse scroll since versions 28.1

   I'm on Windows 11, using the newly updated AI 29.0. This has been mostly my issue since AI 28.1 onwards. I've been using AI 28.0 without any problems, but I try out every new version to see if the issue will be resolved. I have a good internet connection (700++ Mbps). I think my system has more than the minimum requirements.

   For AI 28.0 - both .AI and AIC (cloud) files can be zoomed in and out using mouse scroller without any problems.

   For AI 28.1 - 29.0 - Locally saved .AI is somewhat laggy. Cloud saved .AIC has a very laggy scroll zoom.

   I have tried resetting the preference and reinstall a couple of times to no avail.

3. Smooth Tool oversmooths

   Manual use of the Smooth Tool over smooths no matter what I set the fidelity to.
   This tool used to be so helpful in smoothing out rough areas or sharp corners but the new Illustrator 2025 (Desktop) PC version way over smooths.
   This makes everything a blob instead of providing the polished finishing touch it used to give.
   Now I have to manually remove unwanted points to achieve and retain desired shapes.

4. Smart Guide Measurement Labels give a diameter for polygon live shapes, but show a width and height

   Smart guide measurement labels display the diameter of polygon live shapes rather than their width/height, but still lists it as W/H in the label itself.

   Steps:
   1. Create a polygon with a square bounding box (like an octagon)
   2. With smart guide measurement labels on, drag to a specific size.
   3. Note discrepancy between the size listed when you release and the size in the transform panel.

   Result: Label displays a different W/H figure than the transform panel.
   Expected result: Either the measurement label explicitly informs the users that it displays diameter (i.e.: 'Dia: 100 px'), or it displays the bounding box width/height.

   I'd imagine the latter is more sensible since a diameter for polygons is listed nowhere else that I am aware.

5. There is a problem with zooming the mouse wheel in 29.0

   When zooming with the mouse wheel, the zoom coordinates are severely offset.
   This issue existed in previous versions and was fixed in 28.6, but reappeared in 29.0

6. AI 29.0 runs slower than previous version

7. Dimension line gets shifted when multiple dimensions are selected with Shift held

   When holding down the Shift key to select multiple dimensions, the one clicked will move once with each click

8. We can’t use Eyedropper to sample the look of a dimension object and apply it to another selected one

9. About the Pencil Tool and Image Tracing in version 2025

   The accuracy of the path conversion for the pencil tool and image tracing has decreased in version 2025. Even if I change the settings to fine, it is converted to a coarse path, and I cannot express the details like in previous versions. Please improve it as soon as possible.

10. Artwork gets shifted when an artboard is resized with width and height constrained and Scale Artwork Constrained enabled

    CC 2025 v29.0 introduces the long-awaited "Scale Artwork with Artboard" option. When we drag the transformation frame with the Artboard tool, the objects are scaled synchronously, and the position’s calculated properly.
    However, when we start to enter the width or height of the artboard, with Constrain locked, the objects get shifted relative to the artboard after being scaled.
    The problem has been confirmed on both MacOS and PC.

11. Ai2025 - The Pencil tool has become unusable again! There's no accuracy—it’s too smooth!!!

    I’m here to post about the same issue I did in 2014.
    The Pencil tool has become unusable once again! It’s smoothing too much, even on the maximum accuracy setting (left first slider tick).

    Back in 2014, when Adobe rewrote the Pencil tool, you removed the previous numeric settings and replaced them with four ticks. All of them were too smooth and took too much control over the path, leading to imprecise bubbly and smooth drawings.

    I made a post about this back then, and Adobe was super nice to respond by adding a fifth lowest left tick with the previous lowest accurate settings, which I’ve been using for nearly 20 years now: "lowest fidelity, 0.5px smoothness, 0%."

    Now, after the 2025 update, the pencil tool once again is smoothing too much, even on the lowest accuracy setting. This is making mine and my colleagues work impossible because the tool doesn’t generate enough anchor points to create the detailed and organic edge illustrations we need. Not everyone is looking to draw smooth, bubbly shapes!

    This is crucial in an free hand drawn operation such as the pencil tool because anchor points act as the resolution of the path, determining the type of edges you want to express in your drawings. The character of the edge is essential for the final look.

    Why shouldn't we have more control over the path resolution, allowing for higher values? Currently, Illustrator seems to be leaning towards reducing the resolution of our paths, limiting our creative control leaning towards more smooth bubbly or geometric style.

    Inkscape is fantastic in this regard as it doesn't limit the resolution the artist gets to add to the path. It has a numeric setting where you can set what you need. Unfortunately inkscape falls short on other aspects of the freehand pencil drawing process, for instance you can't redraw over and over again and sculpt your path with the pencil tool as you can in illustrator.

    With this post I’m requesting:

    (1) To fix the bug and bring back the ability to generate more anchor points on the path for accuracty on the lowest tick with "lowest fidelity, 0.5px smoothness, 0%."

    (2) I'm also making an additional feature request for the ability to add even more anchor points than that by adding an even lower sixth tick that generates even more anchor points, with a setting like "lowest fidelity, 0.2px smoothness, 0%."

    Alternatively, and idealy, please bring back the numeric values like you had before that allow us to set the path resolution more precisely, similar to how Inkscape still handles it.

    This won’t slow down the application in any significant way—today's machines can handle it. I've pushed Illustrator to its limits for many years, and higher resolution paths have never been an issue. There's no reason to hold back on giving users more control over the paths and the style of their illustrations.

    I would love to assist in testing it out.

12. Pasting text within text box changes formatting to neighboring type

    I am trying to cut and paste type within an area type box. I have the type formatted with mixed attributes. But when I paste the type in its new location all formatting is lost and it assumes the format of the type next to where I paste it.

    This can happen if the 'Paste text without formatting' option is toggled in Preferences > Clipboard Handling. This would cause Ai to paste text with no formatting, adapting it from the target text.

13. Distortions / pixelation when Space bar is held and mouse pointer moved

    When I press and hold space bar and move the mouse pointer to navigate the screen, the distortions / pixelation appear and make it it difficult to work. Please help. I tried reinstalling AI and ran windows update.

14. Opacity set with an action does not match appearance of opacity set manually

    When trying to select multiple objects with the same fill color and opacity, selecting one of them and under the Select menu choosing Same > Appearance will add all the same fill and opacity objects to the selection.

    However, when creating an object via an action and setting the fill color and opacity to match the objects to be selected, Select > Same > Appearance returns no results.

    Manually selecting multiple objects in addition to the object created with the action shows "Mixed appearances" in the Properties panel. Individually selecting each of the objects shows the same attributes. Selecting multiples of manually created objects all show the same appearance properties. Adding an object with the same attributes but which was created via an action shows "mixed appearances."

    Here are the steps to repeat:

    Make a new, blank document.
    Start recording an action in the Action panel.
    Record yourself making a new rectangle with the Rectangle tool.
    Set the Fill to Black, and the Stroke to None.
    Change the Opacity in the Transparency panel to 20%.
    Stop recording.
    Move that frame to the side.
    Manually create a new rectangle, using the same steps as above.
    Under the Select menu, choose "Same > Appearance."
    You should see the previous rectangle you made included in the selection.
    Your Properties and Attributes panels should contain the same information for both objects.
    Now run your action you just recorded in the Actions panel.
    Choose Select > Same > Appearance.
    Note that nothing else gets selected.
    Manually select the rectangle created by the action plus either of the ones created manually.
    Note the Attributes panel now says "Mixed Attributes."

    You recorded yourself making an object with certain attributes. You played back that action and according to every panel it has the same attributes as the one you previously created, but you cannot use Select > Same > Appearance to select them both because the appearances are "Mixed."

    The only way to work around this is to create a Graphics Style with the attributes (opacity, fill) being searched for. Then an object can be created with an action, the action can assign the Graphics Style, and then Select > Same > Appearance will find all of the objects with the same fill and opacity (even if those objects do not have the Graphics Style applied).

    When trying to select multiple objects with the same fill color and opacity, selecting one of them and under the Select menu choosing Same > Appearance will add all the same fill and opacity objects to the selection.

15. Spinning wheel when switching between documents if something is selected in the document.

    I've noticed that if an object is selected in any document then switching to that document will cause the spinning wheel of death for about 5-10 seconds. If nothing is selected then the switch will happen immediately, like it should do.

16. Placing PDF comes up with an Unknown error

    There is a bug with Illustrator when placing certain PDF's I get "An unknown error is detected...." I have been getting this error since Adobe Illustrator 2023.
    Files will work if it's opened in Rosetta but not with the regular version. Now with 2025 the option to open in rosetta is gone.

    Using Mac OS
    Apple chip M1
    16gb Ram
    Sonoma 14.5

    Do not have any issues with this on the Intel macs.

17. Guides duplicate and fly away when grabbed

    When I grab a guide (square made by me, not ruler) by the edge and drag it, it duplicates and the double is flying away, kind of like a floater in your eye

18. Make pressing Escape close Color modal dropdowns for Fill and Stroke in all panels

    If we open Character panel, unfold any dropdown in it and press Escape — this dropdown closes back.

    If we click underlined Stroke or Opacity in Properties, pressing Escape does the same.

    But if we click Fill or Stroke button in any panel (Control, Properties, Appearance), to get the Swatches/Mixer/Gradient/Generate dropdown... Escape does nothing.
    It should close this dropdown, as it does for everything else in Ai.

19. 線を細く設定した際の表示バグ

    線の太さを0.001pxなどに設定した場合、設定は出来ているのに実際の線の表示位置と、選択できる線実体の位置にズレが生じます。
    表示限界かとは思いますが、表示できないなら設定も出来なくすべきかと思います。

20. Line Extension Smart Guide not working

    I recently updated my Illustrator to 2025 and my smart guides are on but when I extend a line now it is no longer snapping to "Line Extension". I have verified that in my preferences under Smart Guides, "Anchor/ Path Labels" is turned on. Not sure if this is a bug with the new update or what is going on.
