Losing Layers when saving as PDF from CC 2018 and reopening in CC2017
Losing Layers when saving as PDF from CC 2018 and reopening in CC2017.
We save all our ai files as "Illustrator Default" PDF's so we can see the layers in Acrobat and come back and modify the file in ai with no concerns. After updating to CC 2018 and saving a file the same way making sure to preserve illustrator and create acrobat layers when opened in an older version of ai (CC 2017) we will not see the file with layers. If opened in 2018 all is good. Never had this issue with CC 2017 when someone opened it in an older version. We send out a lot of files this way and has been an issue since updating to 2018. If saved as an .ai file it is fine but it should work as a PDF also as it did in the past.Any ideas...

Key Object Performance Issues
When aligning to a complex key object, the performance is terrible. When I click on a complex object (say, a group of complex paths or illustrations) to set it as the key object, it lags for several seconds after clicking before I can click an alignment tool. The length of the lag depends on how complex the key object is. This behavior never occurred in prior versions of illustrator. Very annoying.

Drop shadows unnecessarily re-render when placing new images, slowing workflow
As of 5/22/18 using Illustrator 22.1, all existing drop shadow effects within document re-render each time a new image is placed. Rendering can take up to 30 seconds to process (a Progress dialogue box appears), which slows down workflow considerably.
This is never an issue with InDesign or Photoshop, so I'd love to see this fixed in Illustrator. Thanks!

Tools and panels never open
I am having a problem with Illustrator since a few days now and I just don't find solution for it.
Every time I open Illustrator it forgets that the Control panel, the Tools panel and the other panels such as Transparency, Layers, Color, etc. was opened. It is really annoying to open them every time.
Could someone give a solution. And I am using the latest version of Illustrator for 2 months now I think, and it started to do this only a few days ago.3 votesDoes anyone still have this problem in the latest builds?
Please comment if it’s still there (and if pressing Tab helps to show the UI.

Transform Panel: Tabbing issue causes Y value to be ignored.
Using the Transform Panel to input X value then tabbing to the Y value doesn't accept the new Y value.

Overprint black does not record in action in CC2018
In CS6 it was possible to record the properties of the Edit > Edit Colors > Overprint Black command into an action.
In CC2018 (22.1) this is no longer possible and would appear to be a bug.

Battery impact when Illustrator simply open in background
Simply leaving Illustrator 22.0.1 open in the background, even while not actively using it, causes my MacBook Pro (MacOS High Sierra, 10.13.4) to run hot and drains the battery quickly, about 1% per minute. This limits my ability to use Illustrator without having my computer plugged in. This is easily demonstrated/replicated by having no other applications open. There should be zero CPU usage when Illustrator is simply open in the background and not in use.

Selection tool, bounding box
Square did not fill with the fill color I selected. The objects are all pixelated and not clear. Bounding boxes keep disappearing. Objects moving back to previous positions.
3 votesIllustrator can display artwork in Preview mode and Outline mode — with only lines edges drawn. You can switch between this modes with Cmd/Ctrl+Y hotkey or via View > GPU/CPU Preview / Outline command.

Recent File Opens Up Blank Without My Saved Work
I recently saved a file/project I was working on. The next day when I went to go open the recently saved file it opened a blank page. None of the layers were shown, and the size was not right. I tried restarting my computer but still the same thing occurred. It was like the art I drew was not even there. Can someone please help me? Thanks!

Save Adobe PDF compression resolutions are mixed up
When you go to Save As and select PDF, and go into the Compression tab there are three sections of settings for image qualities and resolutions, Color, Grayscale and Monochrome. The bug is that the Monochrome Bitmap settings are ignored and grayscale settings are used instead.
If you look at my PDF export settings screen shot you will see that Monochrome was supposed to export at 600dpi and Grayscale at 200. The Monochrome image in the resulting PDF file came out at 200 dpi instead. The Grayscale image came out at 200 dpi as well.
Thanks! Hope it gets fixed soon.

Illustrator 22.1 crashes on quit. (Mac OS X 10.11.6 on MacBook Pro i7 Late 2011)
The latest Update to Version 22.1 won't work properly on my computer. Everytime I finish work and quit Illustrator, the programm crashes and freezes on exit screen, endlessly showing the rotating, colored ball (mouse pointer).
I have to force quit, no other way to get around.
So I switched back to Version 22.01 - everything working fine and smooth again.3 votesPlease accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience. Text size is not the same size as I set it
How do I get illustrator cc 18 which I pay per month for, to apply text size the same size on the monitor as I pick in the layout?? If I put in for instance .50 size text it will be approx. .375 on the monitor or my layout. This is aggravating. It is something I am doing wrong or HOW DO I CORRECT THIS SO IT WILL BE THE SAME SIZE AS I CHOOSE. THANKS Jerry L. Evans Kokomo, Indiana. I had illustrator 6 on disk I purchased and had no problems like this.

Illustrator 2018 crashes constantly..
Hey there, fellow Illustrator-People,
since yesterday I'm running into an issue that stops me from making any progress on the project I'm currently working on, without any signs of a logical cause here.
I was trying to open up a few recent files I worked on but Illustrator just straight up closes, without any crash pop-up or illustrator re-opening any of the files when getting started again. It's possible to open up illustrator via the app icon, but not via the files I want to edit. I then checked if other files can be opened, and to my surprise, some of them can, but some can't (especially the ones I've been working on lately).
I figured that maybe Illustrator has a problem with the amount of artboards I got in the recent files because the older ones with less artboards got loaded up without a problem, but when loading a file from last year with close to sixty artboards it wasn't a problem, too. So it kind of has something to do with the files, I guess.
Overview
MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
Processor: 2,7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Startup DIsk: Macintosh HD
Graphics: Radeon Pro 455 2 GBOSX: macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.3
Illustrator Version: Adobe Illustrator CC 2018 v. 22.1- Illustrator closes instantly without any sign of crash when opening recent files I've been working on.
- Illustrator can however be started without opening any file.
- Illustrator can however be started with some older files I haven't been working on recently.
I will be uploading the crash log, too.
Any suggestions?

Transform panel units different than Properties panel's Transform section
Transform panel reads in inches as it should but in the properties panel the transform panel shows points. Latest version of Illustrator CC2018, Windows 7. Also if the values are unlinked to resize only 1 dimension both still change.
