1. Click-drag fails... snaps back

   Click-drag, click-opt (copy) drag, click-shift (constrained) drag fails... snaps back.

   Click on object to drag it either with or without option and/or shift and sometimes it will fail and snap back to its original position.

   Mac mini M1
   MacOS 12.2.1 Monterey
   Apple Magic Mouse (no Wacom or other third party drivers)

   Same behavior on two identical machines.

   Works fine with v26.0.3.

2. Annoying Flickering Cursor when Photoshop is open

3. Giant splash screen ads in paid for, professional subscription is a BUG

   I am sick to death of the huge, intrusive, non-cancelable, and occasionally completely incapacitating ads popping up in a very expensive, professional, enterprise-level paid-for subscription. This is so unbelievably unprofessional and unconscionable in a paid subscription.

   I have been working for 10+ hours today in Illustrator and Photoshop, and have had several pop ups. But this one was the last straw. It nearly covered the whole screen. I can't close it and tell it never ask me this again, oh no, I can only request that it defer the annoying shill until the middle of another, future, equally tense deadline event.

   Last night at 2am, after a nearly 15 hour day, I had one pop up that had the "oh please do bother me with this again later" button off the screen, so there was NOTHING I could do. Thankfully after about 20 long, tense minutes I was able to save my drawings and close Illustrator to get rid of them.
   Yes I've turned off splash screen welcome and tool tips, but you know what? those are not tool tips, those are ADS. I've been using AutoCAD for over 30 years, but I'm new to Illustrator, so I kinda NEED the tool tips, at least the minimal hover ones so I can get a clue what a button is since I don't have it all memorized yet.

   There are hundreds of comments in your user groups and others going back years from your customers who are disrupted and enraged by this practice. What exactly are you getting out of it? I can choose a tutorial whenever I want, I don't need them shoved in my face. It surely isn't selling anything, I'VE ALREADY PAID.

   GIVE US THE COMPLETE METHOD TO END THIS PRACTICE without losing actual, useful functionality.

4. Plugin menu items in Select menu appear above saved selections without a divider

   Plugins can add their own menu commands in different menus.
   Specifically in Select menu, they get treated weirdly.

   Normally, without any plugins installed, the bottom of Select menu looks fine, like this:
   Save Selection...
   Edit Selection...
   Update Selection ← this is a new command added recently
   <end of menu>

   When at least one saved selection is added, Ai adds a horizontal separator and list saved selection under it:
   Save Selection...
   Edit Selection...
   Update Selection
   ————————————————
   My Amazing Selection
   <end of menu>

   Again, descent.
   But with plugins onboard it looks like the attached image.
   All plugin items are placed under the separator, above the saved presets (and if no selections are saved, there is no separator even).

   Not OK, and it always bugged me.

   The order I think makes more sense is this:
   Save Selection...
   Edit Selection...
   Update Selection
   ————————————————
   My Amazing Selection
   ————————————————
   Plugin items
   <end of menu>

   It makes the saved selections closer to their corresponding commands, and separates them from plugin items. Surely, when no selections are saved, the separator still should be there, to separate plugin ones from native commands.

   The developer told me they add the menu commands to the kSelectMenuExternalGroup, 'as prescribed by Adobe'.
   Within that menu group (not alphabetized), the menu items are added in whatever order the plugins are loaded. The developer has no control over where Illustrator chooses to add its saved selections and possibly its separator.

   Please address this.

5. Hidden clipping mask still contributes to exported image

   I had a design with two clippings mask applied to it, for layout and previewing purposes.
   When time to export a final image comes, I hide the top-level smaller one, and leave the larger one at the bottom to clip my design.

   But when I review the exported image, I realize Illustrator removed the some elements of the design, despite me seeing them on canvas. It took a live brush and deleted some parts of it even!

   Take a look at the file attached.
   1. Open it
   2. Study the layer structure, notice a hidden clipping mask. Note the design now is clipped to the artboard’s boundaries — this is what I expect to get on export
   3. Export the document to a TIFF, with any settings
   4. Review the image, notice missing elements

   Workarounds are known to me. Again, I have my reasons to have this completely legal layer structure, to have one mask hidden, and to have the other one kept (this test document is a distilled version of a larger one I had with many more artboards).

   Please address this.

6. Illustrator Window Disappears after an attempted Windows 11 shutdown

   Sometimes I forgot to save my file before I shut down my PC. When I attempt to shut down, the Interrupted Shut Down dialog opens, saying that Illustrator interrupts my shut down because I haven't save the file. However, when I click cancel to shut down, the illustrator window either froze or disappear and cannot be opened again. (Please find the attached video for the issue). This bug only happens to Illustrator and no other app.

   Operating System : Windows 11, i9-12900HK RTX 3080Ti
   Version : 28.4.1

7. File name resets when I switch to saving as a cloud document

   I'm working on a file locally called filename_v01.ai and decide to create a new version.

   I hit Save As, and change it to "filename_v02.ai"

   Before hitting save in the same folder, I decide to save to cloud instead. I select "Save Cloud Document"

   The Save to Creative Cloud window opens up. All is well except it has ignored my filename change - it's called "filename_v01.aic"

   This happens in both directions and would be good to fix

   Why do I want this change
   I back and forth between illustrator desktop and iPad and back and forth between ai and aic to do this (ultimately I prefer to have local AI file so I can bring into other apps - After Effects etc), and I continually version up when I go from one to the other - v01, v02, v03. This file rename bug regularly trips me up

8. Apple M1 macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 - Terriblement lent !!! 😪😡

   Depuis que j'ai fait la MÀJ de Ventura (macOS 13.x) vers Sonoma (14.x), le logiciel Illustration est terriblement lent, ça me fait perdre un temps fou! Mon document est simple et léger (102 ko). Lorsque je déplace mes éléments ou même que je fasse une recherche dans (Menu > Aide).

9. Illustrator 2023 (27) Crashes When Moving/Dragging

   All versions (27 on) have been crashing when I try to drag/move a group or selection of items. This seems to happen more when I am moving in small increments or if I'm zoomed in, but can happen when I am zoomed out and moving a larger distance as well. Any attempt to drag items from one area to another seems to cause a crash! I have been using Illustrator 27.2, on a 64GB M1 Max MacBook Pro, running Ventura 13.1. I use a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet that is updated to the latest drivers.

11. Illustrator Freezing

    Adobe Illustrator had been freezing for a week.
    Mac OS Ventura
    AI v 28.4.1

    When I go to Force Quit, it doesn't show it's not responding. I can't save or close files with Command+S or Command+W. When I right click and close from the dock, it crashes.

    I can't reopen AI by clicking the icon in the doc or the Creative Suite app. The only way to get it to run is by going to my Folder and selecting an AI file to open. When is does reopen, it says it is recovering from a crash.

12. Letter "N" symbol instead of hyphen when hyphenation is activated

    Hi,

    We have a problem with a certain file. After first auto activation of a font, the hyphen character is replaced by a "N". When we then close the file, not Illustrator, so fonts stay active and simply reopen the file, the hyphen is displayed correctly.

    We use Connect Fonts for fontmanagement, but apparently the problem is on the Adobe side (according to Extensis)

    OS: Windows 11 and MacOS Sonoma (latest version)

13. Intertwine bug when export as pdf X4

    mac os 12.6, illustrator 2023
    create 2 intertwining circles, save as PDF X4 with the Illustrator default settings and you get a bitmap instead of vector data..
    by choosing "compatibility: acrobat 8" the problem does not appear.

15. Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. Bad parameter.

    Having this issue after the 27.3.1 update. Found that it cause by the mask inside the transparency. The error prompt out when we try to save the file.

16. v27.8.1 - Random files having images corrupted upon file save

    Mac OS 13.5.1 / Illustrator 27.8.1 / Apple Studio M1 Max

    After updating from 27.7 > 27.8.1 files saved in native .ai format (pdf compatibility) with embedded images are randomly becoming corrupted (does not happen to all documents). The files will open up in illustrator just fine, and appear normal, but the image preview and rasterizing into photoshop will show the included images with blank white space, or areas of garbled distortion. The corrupted files will also fail to process on our RIP. This has appeared on 2 different computers immediately following the update. This has been alleviated completely by downgrading to version 27.7. Also any file that has been damaged by saving out of 27.8.1 can be then opened in 27.7 and re-saved and the issue will have been fixed.

    The released version 27.9 should have a fix for this issue. Please test it to make sure images don’t get corrupted anymore and reply back.

17. Cursor won’t change when a tool is picked using keyboard shortcuts

    Selected tool icons do not change when using keyboard shortcuts. For example: zooming in (Z) and then selecting Direct Selection (A) keeps the zoom icon, which is disconcerting to say the least. You're not sure you've selected the correct tool, or have to click the mouse to make sure (doing so resets the icon to the correct tool).

    I've noticed it on 26.5. I rolled-back to 26.4.1 and experienced it there too. I'm running a new MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021), Apple M1 Max chip 32 GB.

    I've attached screenshots of various tools that fail to switch.

19. Illustrator keep crashing

    I use Illustrator v 28.4.1. It keeps crashing every single time i open the app. I keep uninstalling and re-downloading Illustrator, at its latest version and also previous versions (i tried v 27.9.3, it won't open either). I don't know how to make it work anymore.
    
    I work on a HP spectre 360x convertible.

20. Trace Tool doesn't work after installing update 28.4.1

    Trace tool freezes and then shuts down illustrator after installing update 28.4.1 and it takes Illustrator a long time to open up saved work
