GPU performance causes screen artefacts
In AI 25.4, when GPU Performance is enabled, at some point when working on a file, or switching between screens, thin vertical and horizontal black lines will appear. They seem to flash on and off for a second or more as though Illustrator is switching between tabs or other open applications.
I've tried to take a screenshot/video when this happens but it doesn't show up, if you look at the screenshot/video, it's as though those lines were never there.
When GPU Performance is disabled, the issue goes away.
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019)
3.6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
40 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 580X 8 GBThis is now also happening in Photoshop, and again, disappears when GPU Performance is disabled.

Dialog box pop up warning when opening the application for IllustratorGc.jsx
Illustrator version:25.3 (updated today to run natively for M1)
Hardware Specifications:
MacBook Pro M1
OS: macOS Big Sur 11.4I updated my Illustrator today to run natively on M1 and have been facing this issue for a while.
I changed none of my preferences but randomly seem to be getting this warning pop-up that does not go away when clicking on 'Continue' or 'Cancel' - I tried reinstalling the app which didn't work at first, so I removed my preferences and tried again but that did not fix it. It seems the warning pop-ups just when I open the application and once clicked 'Coninue' does nothing and the pop-up emerges again. It is impossible to work in the application while this is happening.
Is there a way to fix this from Illustrator UI preferences?

Images get randomly cropped from unwanted sides with Crop Image
Currently when you wish to crop an embedded or linked image, clicking the crop button makes the cropping interface appear over the image.
When this happens, illustrator has already applied some (seemingly random) degree of cropping to the image.
This is super annoying if you only want to crop one edge of the image as you have to return the other three edges to the uncropped position.
Also if you are zoomed in so far as to not be able to see all the edges of the image, you crop the edge you are looking at without realising illustrator automatically cropped the edge which is out of view. It is not uncommon to perform many other edits, before zooming out to realise half your image is missing and having to undo all the way back to the crop.
The automatic crop has never cropped an image in a way that makes sense for me, and i dont understand why they’ve gone to the extra effort of incorporating an auto crop that wastes more time than it saves.
Please fix this or enlighten me as to the value i am unable to see.

9 votesAs per the comment, the random crop is caused by Enable Content Aware Defaults option in Preferences > General. Turn it off disable auto-suggesting weird crops.
As for the white lines, this a separate problem, now merged into separate report:

Exporting assets as SVG with asset export tool is buggy
Asset export in illustrator is a very convenient tool, the only problem I found is when exporting my drawings to SVGs they get distorted, but when I take my objects one by one to a single document and fit them in an artboard and save the document as SVG the problem resolves (a big process), essentially because SVG saving settings for saving a document isn't the same when for exporting with asset export, I believe it isn't a big problem to solve and I hope for it to get fixed soon, I can reply with images to assist my point.
Thank you

Missing transparency in placed PDFs
I do have issues with Illustrator displaying transparencies of placed PDFs as solid.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a new document.
- Draw two partially overlapping rectangles with different colors.
- Set he opacity of the frontmost rectangle to 50%.
- Save this document as a PDF with setting Illustrator Standard (see attached file).
- Open a second document.
- Place the PDF file.
Expected result:
The topmost rectangle should be displayed with transparency.
Actual result:
The topmost rectangle is not transparent.
If you save the document with the placed PDF itself as PDF file, the rectangle is still transparent, so this is a display issue of Illustrator. Now it’s getting really weird: If you place this second PDF file in a new Illustrator document … all looks fine.
I am using Illustrator 25.0.1 on MacOS 10.14.6.

Normal "Save" operation in recording Actions becomes a "Save as" operation
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit 2004, Illustrator version 25
When you create a new action and use "Save" it becomes a "Save As" where it displays a path.
My scenario: I often have to re-save a batch-exported pdf again with normal "Save" so that all text is converted to paths for a print house via custom shortcut F12.
Because during batching there is no option do convert the text.
So I need a second run with recorded actions:- select all
- convert all text to path (outlines)
- save
- close
The normal save operation is required so this can work with any file in any folder!
Changing the path for the "Save As" operation is a really annoying time killer.
Please repair normal "Save" action!

Can't highlight values in fields
Since update today, cannot click and drag across the numbers in the dimension boxes (properties). Can only double click to highlight. It's bugged at best.
9 votesIs this still an issue in the latest builds?
Does it happen only in Properties or other panels affected as well? If it’s still bugged — please record a short video showing the way it behaves at your side.

'Preview' instantly applies effect or operation
If I go to any dialogue box that has a 'preview' option, the effect is applied as soon as the box is checked. If I then click 'cancel' the effect is still applied. Altering the parameters applies the new value to the previously applied value.
For example, I draw and box and open the Scale options. With 'preview' selected, I change the value from 100% to 200% and then to 150%. The box is scaled to 350% in total.
Also, the Recolour Artwork box will only allow me to change a colour once. Again, applying the change instantly even if I choose 'Cancel'.
This doesn't happen to a newly created document. But if I copy anything from a document where it is happening into a new one it will start to happen.

UI freezes, then crashes. Can't save.
Last version is pretty unstable. Can't work with it, crashed several times since the update i made this morning. While working, UI freezes (but some tools are still availaible via keyboard shortcut), then crashes without message. Can't save when UI is freezed.
I'm going back to the previous version. Aren't you ashamed that EVERY TIME we update, softs become unusable for professionnal purpose?
Ho, and when will get ******' keyboard shortcut to rename layers? Is it in the current update at last?

Guides are too thin and barely visible
Since the last update (23.0.4) guides are almost invisible, especially when using the document grid in combination.
This is only the case when GPU performance is on. When it's switched off, the guides appear as usual. In the previous Illustrator version this problem didn't exist...
The strange thing is: while dragging other guides, or making a rectangle selection with the Selection Tool, the guides become thicker again. But, when I release the mouse again, they become thin again.
I work on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) model, NVIDEA GeForce GT 750M 2GB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB. MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.4. I also work on an external screen.
EDIT Now I've opened another document, the guides behave as usual again...

Illustrator slow on Retina display
Hi,
Adobe Illustrator is running slow/lagging on a Retina display (Zooming, using overprint preview). Doing the same operations when the document is located on an external monitor (Dell, no hdpi), all works well.
I've tried switching between GPU/CPU rendering, disabling animated zoom, removing the preferences, ... without any luck.
Does anyone have any idea's on how to solve this?
I'm using a MacBook Pro, 16GB RAM, Radeon Pro 450 2048MB...
Thanks

Missing fonts issue
It's not reading Adobe fonts. It keeps saying to activate the font every time I open a document. The program hangs trying to activate a font, making the file not work properly "without" a font that was perviously activated.

General Bugs in Graph Tool
Computer: Dell, Intel i7, 32 GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro
Illustrator Version: CC 2019, germanThe Graph tool needs many bugfixes.
1. when trying to enlarge the data window or some of the columns in it, sometimes the cursor switches so that you see you can now pull the line between two colums and enlargen the column. Sometimes it doesn't (see jpg).
2. When trying to insert a line break in one of the text lines in a chart (by inserting the vertical line glyph by copy&paste), german Umlauts are changed into strange glyps (see jpg)
3. When changing some data (numbers, words etc.) in an existing graph that uses grafic styles (for lines, bars etc.), some items lose the grafic style and turn back to black or to invisible (see jpg). Some of the items or values (like 0-10-20-30% for example) change position and "jump" to other lower or higher positions, some keep their position. (see jpg)
4. when changing the size of a chart with formatted text, the text has to be re-formatted after resizing the chart which is logical, but nonetheless uncomfortable to work with.
5. Last but not least (well, not really a bug, but..) why is there no possibility to integrate the data-values into the charts? (Without working with graph designs - which is far too complicated and uncomfortable, I think) . For example, you have two columns, one with 25% , one with 50%. Why can't you just integrate the written value "25%" in the graph? (jpg)Computer: Dell, Intel i7, 32 GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro

I have to keep re-activating fonts
For no seemingly obvious reason, and quite randomly, my fonts wont activate when I open Illustrator. I have to turn off "Enable Adobe Fonts" in CC and then turn it back on. This is getting very frustrating -
