  1. Saving a file should not highlight the extension

    When saving (copy, exporting, etc), the save box highlights the extension. This should not happen. Soon as you choose a different format, the extension is no longer highlighted (which is good and how it should be). The extension should not be highlighted. This Illustrator bug happened after the Mac Catalina update.

  2. Discretionary hyphens do not seem to work

    I can’t get discretionary hyphens to work in Illustrator CC 23.0.2, either by Shift-command -- or with Type > Insert Special Character > Hyphens and Dashes > Discretionary Hyphen. Whether Hyphenate is turned on or off for the paragraph does not matter. Language does not seem to make a difference either.
    Only the hyphens added by Illustrator itself are obeyed.

  3. Glyph rendering bug with non-empty space char on OT-SVG fonts

    The space character is not rendered consistently when it includes an SVG glyph:

    • The glyph is invisible by default
    • But - as expected - it is visible in full color when moving the text object, and in greyscale version when switching to Outline mode

  4. I can't change the color of the Neon Glow effect in Effect Gallery

    Every time I try to change the color of the Neon Glow filter, it always goes back to black. I've tried a lot of different things, but nothing works. I looked on the internet if there's a way to fix it, but seems that everyone has the same problem with Neon Glow.

  5. 'Use Preview Bounds' works wrong with 'Stroke Inside' for Compound Path

    If you set set stroke's alignment to inside and check 'Use Preview Bounds' (image 1), AI will draw bounding box (and calculate dimensions) where the stroke would be visible with no alignment (image 2). This is not how it's expected to behave. The box should wrap the shape.

  6. illustrator wont open file windows

    I have searched the support site and user voice with no results.

    When I attempt to drag an *.ai file from the explorer window to Illustrator, or when I double click the file, it does not open. When I double click the file, Illustrator opens or switches to the window, my cursor briefly shows the 'thinking' animation but nothing happens.

    • There is no freeze or crash
    • Restart of the application did not fix the issue.
    • File>>Open is the only way I can open files
    • This happens to all files whether created with CC 2019 or earlier versions

  7. 'Send to current layer' command is disabled when art across several layers is selected

    I don't understand why it's limited, I can't see logic behind that, so I put it in Bugs, rather then Ideas.

    See, I have some stuff in different layers. I select it, choose a layer, press a hotkey, I intend to collect it all in the selected layer, but nothing happens. WHY?

    I have 'Collect in new layer' in Palette menu, but I have no hotkey for it (you guys do everything with mouse? really?) and i don't need a NEW layer, I need existing and selected one, and I have a command for it — ''Send to current layer'…

  8. Attributes Panel shows Overprint for mixed selection

    The Attributes panel shows that a selection of multiple objects is set to Overprint when the selection contains objects that are not set to Overprint. Only if a non-overprinting object is selected prior to the group selection, will the Attributes will correctly show the "-" (Dash) to indicate a mixed selection. See Screenshots attached.

  9. Local file saving and opening is extremely slow when connected to slow external server or VPN.

    LOCAL file saving and opening is extremely slow when connected to slow external server or VPN.

    Even though I only work on my local drive, opening or saving a simple document takes up to 2 minutes when I'm connected to a slow VPN connection server. Note: I don't open/save through the VPN, I only opens and saves from my local drive.

    The second I close the slow VPN connection, Illustrator works like normal and saves the same file in <3 seconds.

    So -- What is Illustrator doing accessing that VPN connection when everything it needs is on the local disk?

  10. Colors for child items in Layers panel don’t get updated when a color of their parent is changed or when moved in/out of their sublayers

    If you have a layer twirled open with a custom layer color and you switch to a new layer color the child objects don't change color in the layer panel. They do show up if you twirl up and down the layer contents.

  12. Can not export to png or jpg

    When I try to export to jpg I get this error that comes up to lower my resolution. I have tried lowering it to 150dpi and still does not work.

    When I try to export to png it comes up with an unknown error "(!now)"

    This is ridiculous as I should be able to export from illustrator at any dpi without these issues as this is an expensive professional product.

  13. Zoom in and Zoom Out Through Mouse Wheel does not work

    In previous Adobe PD and Illustrator versions i was using preferences setting to change the zoom with Mouse Wheel, but in this version it is not available.

  14. Paste occasionally does not put the pasted art in the center of the view (artboard), even after Fit Artboard in Window

    I'm about as expert an illustrator user can get — for years I've used FIT ARTBOARD (Command-0) as a way to cut/paste pixel perfectly centered artwork. The latest AI version 2017 is off - I realize align to artboard is the intended feature to attain this effect, however that way somewhat stinks because you can't make into a hotkey. Why doesn't Command-0 no longer perfectly center my artboard?
    (NOTE: the off-centered-ness varies from .1 to .01 inches - so very small -- but significant if you're doing engineering grade designs) -- thank you.

    This was marked as fixed in 2019, but there were several reports about this still happening after 2022.

    Please vote and comment if this is something you occasionally experience still.

  15. アートボードパネルで選択を外したアートボードがアクティブになる

    アートボードパネルで選択状態からクリックして選択を外すとアクティブなアートボードになる。選択を外す操作の場合は該当アートボードをアクティブにするべきではない。　

    再現手順
    1.新規ドキュメントを開きアートボードを２つ追加する。この状態では３つ目のアートボードがアクティブになる。
    2.アートボードパネル上でShiftキーを押しながら２つ目、１つ目のアートボードを順番に選択する。ここまでで、アクティブなアートボードは１つ目になる。
    3.アートボードパネル上では３つのアートボードが選択された状態となっている。
    4.Commandキーを押しながら２つ目のアートボードをクリックする。アートボードパネル上では２つ目のアートボードの選択が解除されるが、クリックされた２つ目のアートボードがアクティブになる。
    アートボードパネル上では１つ目と３つ目が選択された状態であるが、２つ目のアートボードがアクティブになることで、実質的には３つのアートボードが全て選択された状態になる。
    この状態で前面へペーストを行うと全てのアートボードにペーストされる。

    期待する結果
    アートボードパネルで選択を外したアートボードをアクティブにしない。

    実際の結果
    アートボードパネルで選択を外したにも関わらず、アクティブなアートボードになることで、実質的には選択を外した状態とはならない。

    When you click a selected item in the Artboards panel to deselect it, that artboard becomes active. Deselecting an item should not make that artboard active.

    1.新規ドキュメントを開き任意のテキストを入力し日本語OTFフォントを指定する。
    2.「ファイルプレビュー用に許可されたフォントを埋め込む」チェックボックスをONにして保存して閉じる。
    3.指定したフォントをアンインストールする。
    4.先のドキュメントをIllustratorで開く。
    5.プレビュー用に埋め込まれたフォントが表示に利用されない。

    期待する結果
    埋め込まれたフォントを利用してオリジナルの体裁が表示される。

    実際の結果
    ドキュメントのDictionaryに含まれる「Embeded Font Binary Data」にはエンコードされたフォントが保存されるが、ドキュメントを開いた際に利用されない。

    いくつか検証しましたが、WesternフォントやCJKであってもTrueTypeであればプレビュー表示されます。AdobeFontに含まれる日本語フォントやモリサワのOTF等がドキュメントに含められているにも関わらず表示に利用されません。
    フォントのファミリー名やスタイル名の処理に問題があるように思います。

  18. Switching keyboard layout with Win32 API message hangs Illustrator.

    When I switch the keyboard layout to non-English, using the Win32 API SendMessage/PostMessage WM_INPUTLANGCHANGEREQUEST (0x50), Illustrator crashes.

  19. Bitmaps display as vertical lines in GPU Preview in AI 28.5

    Multiple mentions of bitmaps showing as vertical lines. Displays correctly in CPU Preview in 28.5 but is broken in GPU preview. 2023 does not have this problem on the same system.

  20. When a group is set as a key object inside of the ungrouped isolation, Distribute Spacing treats some other groups as ungrouped

    1. Open the test file
    2. Isolate the group
    3. Select all
    4. Ungroup — now you have just <Objects> as the last step of isolation
    5. Click the leftmost group once with the Selection tool to make it the key
    6. Press Horizontal Distribute Space button in Align panel Ai will treat the last group as if it is ungrouped — but it is not!

    Why do I do this at all? To distribute all objects inside of a group.
    I can’t do this when it is grouped, so I select it first, then isolate (to avoid interaction with anything else on canvas), then ungroup…
