1. Lines under 1pt render thick in PDF

   In Illustrator, lines thinner than 1pt end up rendering a mess (thick, out of alignment) when viewed in PDF. This is fixed in the viewer by un-checking "Enhance Thin Lines", but it is unreasonable to ask every client of a designer to update that setting. Furthermore it's impossible to un-check this setting, for example on the Vistaprint website where the PDF preview of an AI file is used as the product proof.

   Please fix this. There have been a million excuses on why this is not a bug but a feature, but we NEED the ability to disable it from the document.

   This is something that you have to address to the Acrobat team. Illustrator has nothing to do about this setting and can’t control it. There is no option for Illustrator to toggle in a generated document, it’s an app-level preference. 2. Selecting font for styled text

   While trying to change the font of a styled text box by scrolling throgh the font list, the list glitches and closes. Sometimes selecting a different font randomly and sometimes there font of the text box stays the same.
   Happening on multiple files with different-styled text. The issure does not seem to happen while working with regular-styled text.

3. Smooth Anchor Bug

   Shapes created with the Blob brush, and then simplified with the simplify path tool are creating some weird smooth anchors that look like corner anchors based on the handle locations and line angles exiting the anchor. But when you grab a handle, they snap together or straight, changing the curve shape in an unintended and undesirable way without warning. Very frustration and time consuming to correct.

4. 3D Extrude + Bevel = FAIL

   3D extruded rendering is an absolute fail on Adobe CC 22.0.1

   It's 2017 (nearly 2018) and still, Adobe can't get Illustrator to render text in 3D without undesirable results / unwanted artifacts... c'mon guys!

   Let's "FUSE" the engine to make 3D type in illustrator more powerful and display more accurately without errors.

5. cannot merge layers

   version 22.0.1 brand new download of illustator

   The action cannot complete because a parameter is invalid.

6. Central Resize handles disappear when setting guides from the rulers

   When setting a guide by dragging from the ruler, the center resize handles of a selected object (the handle it is directly in the middle of a selected object) disappear. A short cut i used to use often is if i wanted to find a centerline of something, i would create a temporary square between two points, then drop a guide at the center where the resize handle is because i know that is the center of the two points.

8. Transform Each always uses visible preview bounds instead of expected geometric bounds, ignoring the state of Use Preview Bounds option

   Rotate via Transform Each incorrectly places reference point.
   1. Version: AI-CC 22.0.0
   2. Steps taken:
   Objects: Triangles with 1:1 height/width ratios. Stroked with stroke centered on vector and sharp corners.
   Operation: Rotation via Transform Each command with a centered reference point.

   1. Expected result:
      Since the vector was contained within a square bounding box (1:1 H:W), I expected the triangles to rotate without changing XY location.

   2. Actual result:
      Rotations happened off-center, slightly moving the triangle toward the point that did not align with one of the bounding-box corners.

   Additional Testing:
   I tested the behavior of both the Rotate tool and the Rotate command with a centered reference point and they performed as expected with the bounding box remaining at the same XY coordinates.

   I then tested the Transform Each command on a triangle without a stroke and found that it also performed as expected, rotating around the center point without shifting the XY coordinates of the bounding box.

   Finally, I increased my stroke size to be very large and tested the Transform Each rotation command again and found that the XY offset was directly related to the width of the stroke outside the vector path.

   Conclusion: When performing a rotation, the Transform each tool calculates the center point based on the visible bounds of an object instead of the geometric bounds. Given that with triangles, the stroke is approximately twice as wide at the corners vs the edges, this shifts the reference point to be off-center compared to the actual vector, causing an incorrectly rotated vector.

   Fix: Ensure that the Transform Each command correctly calculates the reference points based on the vector alone instead of the visible bounds of the object. (or better yet, add this as a checkbox option... there IS one more spot available to even out the second column of checkboxes, and I can see there being times when I would want to transform based on visible bounds)

9. Illustrator CC won't embed color profile correctly

   Windows 10 64-Bit
   Illustrator 22.0.1

   Whenever I am saving an Illustrator .ai file with the checkbox for embed color profile checked, the resulting file does not have a color profile embedded correctly. When I reopen that file in Illustrator it seems to have the correct profile embedded but in Bridge or InDesign the file appears to have no color profile attached. If I export the same file as .psd file Illustrator embeds the color profile correctly.
   My colormanagment is synched via Bridge.

10. File size growing increasing bloating

    Illustrator 22.0.1 (64bit), Windows 10 64bit (latest version), 64GB RAM, 3.5Ghz 12 core CPU, 2x large SSDs

    As of last week, I have been encountering an issue with file sizes growing larger and larger each time I save. The file grows even when I only move or even delete objects. The larger the file becomes the more it adds with each save, and the slower it becomes. It’s as though it’s doing something like saving history states (although not in any useful way).

    This is a huge problem; the project file I’m currently working on, though modest in complexity (75k points, only a few effects going on) compared to other files I work on, has grown to over 130MB when I’d expect it to be around 20MB. Each time save the file, even to remove parts of the picture, it adds MBs to the file size. It’s currently taking 30 seconds to save. It has ceased to be usable.

    Things I’ve tested in an attempt to resolve the issue:
    • Uninstalling plugins
    • Reinstalling illustrator
    • Testing files on 3 other PCs around the office (they all have the same issue)
    • Deleting all objects with effects of all sorts
    • Expanding artwork
    • Deleting symbols, graphic styles, swatches etc
    • Vector First Aid, removing points, unnecessary groups, masks etc. (before I tried uninstalling plugins obviously)
    • changing colour mode
    • 300dpi > 72dpi raster effects

    None of that helped.

    I also tried making a small file and adding text and paths, then saving and moving objects and re-saving; the file starts small but grows with each save. The larger the file size becomes, the more the file size grows, regardless of the artwork complexity.

    The ONLY thing reduces the file size back to normal is saving in CS6 format.

11. CC 2018 Multiply Blend Mode Incorrect

    If you apply multiply blend mode to a path, group that and apply multiply again at the group level, you now get 2x multiply. This is wrong whether you look at this from a process ink or spot color printing.

    Omg the uploaded example, I am expecting both left and right sides to be identical to each other, as in versions prior to CC2018.

    We often get files from designers who will try to make a color look good on screen, and printing off a color laser printer. You could for example draw 2 overlapping shapes with PMS 123 on multiply them to make a new color. This in my opinion has always been wrong. In reality on press no-one runs a double hit, except for on occasion a white double hit on flexo. Nowadays the substrate and inks are better than you very rarely even see a double hit on white.

    We could reproduce this issue at our end, following are the findings

    1. This issue is reproducible in CPU, GPU Rendering and Print Preview(thumbnail).
    2. Reproducible in older versions as well including Illustrator CS6 (not a new break in CC 2018)
    3. Works fine in Overprint Preview
    4. Works fine in Print & PDF

    Please confirm above observation match with the problem reported in this issue

12. Align not working when ALL items in a group are selected

    Since updating to CC 2018, Align to Selection and Align to Artboard are not working when ALL items in a group are selected.

    Align appears to work if ALL BUT ONE item in the group are selected... but if the final item is selected, it stops working... nothing happens.

    This is not ideal as it means you then have to align the remaining item with the rest of the group manually... with transform or by eye.

    I am not able to reproduce the issue on my side and behavior is similar to Illustrator CC 2017 version. If you think behavior is changed in Illustrator CC 2018 kindly share a small video of Illustrator CC 2017 behavior and Illustrator CC 2018 behavior at sharewithai@adobe.com so I can further investigate it.

13. Transform Tool

    Entering a number in X then hitting tab to Y and typing in the number is jogging to another number and not applying the number I typed. I have to wait a couple seconds then type in the number for Y. This worked fine two versions ago.

14. Minor Bug (Smart Guides on/off)

    When opening/creating a new document,

    the View > Smart Guides will be checked on. But they are not actually on. You have to turn them on/off a couple times to actually get them working. At first I thought that they were altered or removed from the last update. Fortunately I figured it out!

15. Libraries panel goes unresponsive or displays oversized icons

    Tee rendering of this panel is incorrect, it doesn't let me align it properly with other panels.

17. Swatch pattern reduces scale when copied from one illustrator document to another

    When I copy a CAD drawing from one illustrator document to another, the pattern swatch scale in the CAD reduces.
    I've noticed it doesn't happen with every swatch, only some. Sometimes the CAD itself will also reduce scale.
    I have also noticed that if I create a new document I won't have this issue, however when I paste it into an already existing document, this is when the problem is usually occurring.
    I have doubled checked the canvas size for both documents, and they are the same.
    This is in version 30.2.1.

18. Compatibility Issue in Illustrator v30.2 - PostScript Error <a1a1>

    Critical Update: This issue is not limited to specific files. Every single file saved or exported from version 30.2 encounters the same <a1a1> error, even when the document contains only a simple primitive shape (e.g., a single rectangle). This indicates a systemic failure in the PostScript generation engine of the v30.2 build on my system.

    Description
    Since updating to Adobe Illustrator v30.2, I have encountered a critical compatibility issue. Even when saving files for lower versions (Legacy formats), recipients are unable to open them. The files trigger a specific PostScript error regardless of how simple the vector data is. This issue does not occur in version 30.0, suggesting a bug introduced in the v30.2 update.

    Error Message
    Error: "The illustration cannot be opened. The illustration contains an illegal operand."

    Operator: <a1a1>

    Content: 9898989898989898989797979797979797979796

    Steps Taken (Troubleshooting attempted):
    To resolve this, I have tried the following methods, but none of them worked in v30.2:

    Saving as Legacy AI: Saved as CC Legacy and CS6 versions with "Create PDF Compatible File" unchecked.

    Exporting as EPS: Saved in various EPS versions (including Illustrator 10 EPS).

    Code Cleaning via SVG: Saved the file as SVG and re-imported it to save as AI again.

    Fresh Document: Created a completely new document and copied/pasted only the vector paths.

    Flattening: Expanded all appearances, outlined all fonts, and simplified paths to ensure only basic vectors remained.

    Current Status
    The issue persists only when the file is saved using v30.2.

    Rolling back to v30.0 resolves the issue completely. Files saved in v30.0 can be opened by others without any errors.

19. プレビュー用のPDFの文字が化けました

    macOS Sequoia 15.6.1
    Adobe Illustrator v29.7.1
    他社で作成されたCentury Gothic Regular が使われているIllustratorドキュメント（作成バージョンは29.7）を開いて修正して保存した。
    このデータはInDesignドキュメントにリンク配置されていた。
    InDesignドキュメントの表示の、Century Gothicの数字が異なる数字になっていた。
    1→3、0→2 のように。
    修正した環境にはCentury Gothicがインストールされていない。Font Bookに表示されない。
    が、Illustratorはフォントエラーを表示することなく、開いた。
    PDFを書き出すと、正常に表示される。
    プレビューのPDFのみ化けている。
    その後、調べてみると、Illustrator内では「/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FontServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Fonts/ApplicationSupport/CenturyGothic.ttc」が使用されていることがわかった。
    また、Illustrator v28.7.9ではプレビューのPDFが正常に表示された。
    さらに、「/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FontServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Fonts/ApplicationSupport/CenturyGothic.ttc」を適当なFontsフォルダにインストールすると、Illustrator v29.7.1でもプレビューのPDFが正常に表示された。
    コミュニティの記述にv29.2.1までダウンバージョンすると様々なバグが回避できるとあったので、ダウンバージョンしてみたが、やはり化ける。
    v29.0までダウンバージョンしてみたが、全て化けた。
    再現方法としては、
    1. Century Gothicをライブラリ/Fonts フォルダに入れる
    2. Illustratorでドキュメントを新規作成
    3. 数字を入力
    4. 書体をCentury Gothic Regularにする
    5. 保存して閉じる
    6. Century Gothicをライブラリ/Fonts フォルダから外す
    7. 5.のドキュメントを開く
    8. 修正して保存（または別名保存）
    以上を、各バージョンのIllustratorで実行。
    InDesignに貼り付けるまでもなく、Finderのプレビューで確認できる。

20. 特定の状態のパス上文字を操作するとIllustratorがクラッシュする。

    macOS 14.7.2／iMac27inch/i5/1TB/32GB
    Illustrator ver.29.7.1

    再現手順
    1. 新規ドキュメントを開きアートボード上に楕円を描画する。
    2. パス上文字ツールで楕円をクリックして楕円を対象にパス上文字を作成
    3. 左右のブラケットを楕円の左右のアンカーポイントに合わせる。
    4. 中央のブラケットを操作するとブラケットが反対側に飛んだり戻ったりする。
    5. 4の挙動の後にクラッシュする。

    期待する結果
    ブラケット操作時に安定して操作できる。

    実際の結果
    ブラケットの操作が不安定で、高確率で最悪クラッシュする。

    回避方法
    楕円の一部をはさみツールで切断しておくことで不安定な動作を回避可能。

    3. Align the left and right brackets with the left and right anchor points of the ellipse.

    5. crash after behavior of 4.

    Expected Results
    No crash during bracket operation.

    Actual Result
    Unstable bracket operation, high probability of worst-case crash.

    Workaround
    Unstable operation can be avoided by cutting a part of the ellipse with the scissors tool.
