Keyboard shortcuts for text formatting (kerning, tracking, leading, font size) no longer work in Illustrator 29.7.1
This feature just stopped working. Please fix.
These also don't work:
Increase or decrease leading: Option + Up or Down Arrow (horizontal text) or Right or Left Arrow (vertical text)
Increase or decrease kerning and tracking: Option + Right or Left Arrow (horizontal text) or Up or Down Arrow (vertical text)
7 votesAs noted in the core report, the fix available in Prerelease build now, starting with 29.8. Preferences should no longer change some specific values when the Search field has anything in it. The next general build should have this fix included.

CMYK colors get recalculated in a document with color mode changed from RGB to CMYK, using Color Picker
According to the user, they often receive files created in RGB mode, and they have to convert them to CMYK, using File > Document Color Mode, make specific changes and push documents further. And while the document becomes CMYK, Ai keeps recalculating supplied values, as if these get double-converted via RGB space.
There are easy steps to reproduce this problem from scratch.
1. Create a new RGB document, using Web Document Profile
2. Go File > Document Color Mode > CMYK
3. Create a rectangle
4. Open Color and enter a CMYK color, like 15-30-45-15, tabbing through values. Press Enter while being in the last K field.
5. Open Color Picker again and check the values.Expected — CMYK 15-30-45-15.
The one I get, using my Color Settings, is 21,15-32,8-47,81-7,71If I enter these same values in Color panel — they get accepted fine.
Sometimes the Color Picker becomes sane and stops converting, but I haven’t figured out actions needed... perhaps something with the order of focusing fields? My guess is that somehow Ai treats the HEX field as the last selected one (even though it’s not), adn uses the value in it as the final choice...

Duplicate Artboards will always fail if even one artboard exists near the right edge of the canvas
en
Duplicating an artboard using the Duplicate Artboards command in the Artboards panel will fail if one of the artboards in the document is near the right edge of the canvas and the new artboard is at coordinates that extend beyond the canvas.
It is not possible to duplicate the artboard by wrapping it in the Y direction. Therefore, when such artboards are in the document, it will never succeed.
The expected behavior is that Duplicate Artboards will also do so, since you can copy and paste artboards and New Artboard will generate them with a wrap around.
Environment
- macOS 12.7.5
- Illustrator 2025 (29.6.1)
Steps to reproduce
- Open the attached file "duplicate_artboards.pdf(ai)"
- Select Artboard 1 and execute "Duplicate Artboard"
Actual result
The error message "Cannot create Artboard outside the canvas. Please rearrange and try again." appears and stops.

Expected result
The artboard is duplicated with the Y coordinate shifted down and the X coordinate aligned with the left edge of the previous artboard row.
Workaround
Select the artboard with the Artboard tool, then copy and paste.

- 添付したduplicate_artboards.pdf(ai)を開く

Scaling down a placed image makes it unmovable
After placing a PNG and scaling it down to fit my artwork, I was no longer able to move the PNG into place. I could only select it in the Layers panel or by clicking and dragging over it. There does seem to be a threshold before this happens — if I only scale it down a small amount, it seems to behave as normal, but if I go beyond 50%, it becomes unstable. Of course, the workaround is to scale the PNG closer to the size needed, but this behavior seems to be new. I am pretty sure I have been able to scale images freely in the past.

Radial gradient gets changed when a shape is resized
When I resize an object with a particular gradient, it gets adjusted on its own, which I didn't face before the update. Please fix the issue ASAP

Suffix still gets added when an image is exported even though the option to add it is disabled
While exporting a AI file to, for example JPG, the checkbox for automatic file extension (suffix) is unchecked. When I export it, the filename gets a extension (suffix) '-01' behind it. When I export, check the box, and uncheck it, the file saves without the extension (suffix), like it should. So every time I have to check and uncheck the option before exporting. Very annoying. Never had this issue before.
Newest updated installed 29.6.1 on Windows 10 Pro.
Anyone else has the same issue?

Center Vertical Alignment for Area Type becomes Top when Every-Line composer is used
Take a look at the GIF attached.
When vertical alignment is set to Center, it works only for Single-line composer. When Every-line composer gets chosen, the alignment becomes Top instead. And please rename the option finally — it should be VERTICAL alignment, not horizontal: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447/suggestions/45711817

Bring to front/back not working with new update
Manually right-clicking and selecting "bring to front" and "send to back" aren't working. The shortcut (ctrl + shift + [ or ] ) is also not working. This seems to have started after updating to version 29.4.
Every tutorial I can find hasn't helped. This bug has massively increased my workload as I use this action every few seconds.

Export As in an action does not save parameters but uses ones from the latest export instead
When you record 'Export As...' as an action, and use PNG format, the parameters (resolution, anti-aliasing type, background color) are not saved in the action, but are instead just picked up from the last used export.
Is this not a big problem?
Aren't actions supposed to be self-contained?
If one toggles on the 'dialog' icon in the Actions panel (to let us pick settings on the fly), then it's no different from just choosing the Export As... menu item, so what's the point of the action?Tested with Win 2024

Export As does not respect Large Canvas scale (Illustrator 29.2.1)
If you are in a "large canvas" document, when using the "Export As" menu to export PNG(s), the resulting files are 1/10th the dimensions they should be. For example, if I have 100" x 100" artboards and export them at 72dpi, the resulting images should be 7200x7200 pixels, but they are only 720x720 (but still at 72dpi). This happens with "Use Artboards" checked or unchecked, and only seems to affect PNG export and not other file types.
I'm not sure what version this first appeared in, but I know that previous versions of Illustrator behaved correctly.

SVG Precision and options are reset on every launch of IL. Add a place in IL preferences allowing users to permanently set SVG precision.
I've gone over this problem in detail on the forums here:
Illustrator's precision for saving out SVG files has a default of 1 decimal place. This can cause severe path distortion and rounding errors in the resulting file if you simply save it with CTRL+S.
This precision setting is reset to 1 after closing and re-opening Illustrator no matter what settings you have applied in the past. To rectify this, you have to:
- FIRST select "Save As..."
- Choose SVG as your format.
- Click save and wait for the SVG options dialog to appear.
- Change the precision value from 1 decimal place to something like 5-6.
If you don't do this, any SVG you open and save (even if no edit was made) will likely end up malformed.
You can replicate this by opening a SVG, nudging it maybe a pixel or two, and then saving it with ctrl+s. Re-open the file and then observe the obvious distortions and rounding errors.
Right now, as it stands, It's so easy to corrupt any icons you might be working on if you are making changes from SVG to SVG.
All you have to do is make a small modification, hit CTRL+S, and then ... boom! Your file is now instantly corrupted and rounding errors distort your paths.
Here is an example.
Original Image:
Re-Saved Image:
I urgently request that Adobe does something about this, such as letting users define their default save options somewhere in the preferences so that this sticks permanently. Right now, precision is reset to 1 decimal place on every launch of the application.
Please add an "Export Options" section to the application preferences, or a menu item that allows us to set a default SVG export profile.
I beg that someone on the team incorporates an option to fix this!
Thanks so much for reading.

Pantone or other book colors in a CMYK document look fine in Overprint preview mode but get exported to an RGB images as dull
When we add a Pantone or a different book color into a CMYK document, we can see how it looks 'for real' when we enable Overprint mode — all fair.
Then we would need to share this image with a client, so we export an RGB image... and this image shows out vivid book color as a dull-and converted-to-CMYK-and-then-to-RGB color — which is not what we have in mind.
This is a bug, honestly, I think, but also a request — we need to be able to export images as we see them in Overprint Preview mode... Ai respect overprints (there was a problem with that: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/37832167), but not fully when it comes to book colors.
The only way to workaround is to temporarily switch the document’s color mode into RGB (and not to forget to undo this later).

Sometimes Align panel has no Align To options enabled, even with a selection present
Occasionally I have an object selected, hit a hotkey assigned to an Align command, but nothing happens, even though Ai should automatically enable Align To Artboard with the only object selected.
I open the Align panel (in these cases it’s usually collapsed) and realize none of three Align To option buttons is pressed! I click Align To Artboard one manually, and then it works, and it doesn’t happen anymore... until the next time it misfires like this.
Probably it happens at least one per Ai session, I can’t tell yet.

[ExtendScript] Cannot set Document.rulerUnits
There is no way via scripting to set a document's rulerUnits (pts, mm, inch, etc) because the property Document.rulerUnits is—erroneously, surely—read only.
If Document.rulerUnits was writable, we would simply do this:
var doc = app.activeDocument; doc.rulerUnits = RulerUnits.MILLIMETERS;This is important because there is literally no way to set this via script, except to create a new document.

「クロスと重なり」を含むシンボルの書き出し結果が正しくない - Exporting symbols containing Intertwine results wrong.

English *Use translation tool ----
Exporting symbols containing "Intertwine" does not give correct results.
As psd, pdf, and webp, the result is correct. But in other formats, they are exported as missing.
Same result with "Exports for screens", "Export as", "Save for Web (Legacy)" or any menu command.
"Asset Export" does not export even if the "Export" button is clicked.

1. Create a symbol with artwork containing "Intertwine" and place an instance.
2. Export to an image using "Export for Screen" or similar (choose a format other than psd, pdf, or webp).Actual results:
Exported with missing parts created by "Intertwine".Expected result:
Images are exported correctly as shown on the screen.Workaround:

Export As SVG - incorrect size
I compared the results of the "Save As SVG" and "Export As SVG" commands.
I found that the "Export" option often produces incorrect sizes, especially with patterns containing a lot of fine details. The decimal point settings are the same in both cases.

Pressing Tab to Show All Palettes focuses a random third-party extension’s input on Windows
Reported by Enisio:
I use the Tab key a lot to hide/show panels, to instantly clear the panel clutter on the screen.
Pressing Tab activates RANDOM extension. This is bad, because I work with shortcut keys: T is for writingS for Scale, R for rotation, etc.
When an extension gets focused, I can’t call the tool I need and type something in the extension panel instead.Same thing with all the extensions below. I think all extensions behave this way. Has anyone ever paid attention?

...Happens with Win 10 + AI 2024 — but this has been a problem since AI 2021 as far as I remember.

Animated zoom bug (workspace flickers and turns black when in a group)
- Windows 11 (latest)
- Illustrator 28.3
- The screen flickers and turns black using Animated Zoom within a group. If I exit the group (using escape), the screen returns to normal. Animated Zoom works normally as long as I am not within a group.
The video I've uploaded shows me double-clicking a group to enter it, then using Animated Zoom to produce the flickering and black screen. I hit escape to exit the group, and the screen returns to normal. I then demonstrate that Animated Zoom works correctly when not within the group.
Thanks
