1. Welcome screen doesn't show

   Hello,
   I'm using windows 10 and Illustrator 24.0.2.

   Whenever I'm launching Illustrator, without opening a .ai file, my welcome screen doesn't show at all. I can start a new project fine but I still need my screen to show. And yes the setting to show the welcome screen is checked.

2. Align to Key Object not selectable unless Tool panel is open

   BUG REPORT: "Align to Key Objects" is (sporadically) not selectable as an align method, unless objects are selected while the Tool Panel is open.

   If this panel is closed during object selection, then the "Align to Key Objects" option is greyed out in both the Toolbar and in the Tool Panel (even after it is expanded/opened). This does not happen on every occasion.

   (Running Illustrator CC 2019 on Mac OS 10.14.2)

3. Document window opens as narrow strip, will not expand to full width

   Every document. Every time.

   Multiple documents stack inside this narrow window.
   Documents set to open in tabs.
   Same regardless if Illustrator is opened first or opens with document.
   Documents on external drives and local machine.

   2016 MacBook Pro 15-inch 16 GB RAM
   Mid-2015 MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch 16 GB RAM
   MacOS Mojave (current)
   Mac Illustrator CC 2019 (current)
   Application Frame turned off. (with frame turned on things work differently... fine)
   Both built in display and 32-inch 4k.

   Only started this when I upgraded to CC 2019.

   Clicking here expands the window too it's original, correct size.

   Reset preferences.
   Uninstalled Illustrator and files. Caches, etc.
   Reset workspaces. Changed Workspaces.
   Happens on both of my machines. I do not run any third-party plugins or extensions, so all is basically stock across machines.

   Every document. Every time.

   Multiple documents stack inside this narrow window.
   Documents set to open in tabs.
   Same regardless if Illustrator is opened first or opens with document.
   Documents on external drives and local machine.

4. Bleed settings are not saving with document

   Since I updated Illustrator, all of my print documents are not saving the bleed settings. Here is how to replicate the problem:

   1) I open an existing print document (.ai format) in Illustrator
   2) Go to File --> Document Setup. I have always had the bleed set to 0.125" (or 3.175 mm) for all borders (top, bottom, left, right), but now they all show zero (0).
   3) I change the bleed to 0.125" on all edges again, then click OK.
   4) I save the document, close the document, then re-open the document
   5) I go to File --> Document Setup, and all the bleed settings are showing zero (0) again.

   This is very frustrating because I want to export to printable PDF files but the bleed doesn't show unless I do these steps every single time. I have hundreds of files I work with. This was never a problem until the version prior to this one and this version.

   version 24.0.1 (64-bit)
   Windows 10

   Since I updated Illustrator, all of my print documents are not saving the bleed settings. Here is how to replicate the problem:

5. Select Objects in Layer selects locked objects

   Objects that are locked within a layer get selected when selecting everything in a layer. Instead of selecting everything in the layer except the locked items.

6. Snap to point not working

   Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6, Illustrator 24.2

   Selection points no longer seem to appear on hover and snap to point isn't working even if I quit the app and restart.

   This is getting kind of ridiculous - trying to work is frustrating if you need to be precise with something.

   If you are still having problems with this, please provide a test file and a small video showing the exact workflow and the combination of options used. This would help to start investigation.

7. 24.2 Unable to use special characters: English OS, German regional settings and keyboard

   On a fresh English language Illustrator installation (English OS, German regional settings and German qwertz keyboard on Win10) I am unable to use any character that needs ALT GR as a Modifier. I therefore can not access €, @ | and a lot of pretty important letters. If that helps, Photoshop doesn't show this problem, but Indesign has similar issues. Other, non CC apps with English UI language work fine.

8. Mac OS Wacom brush lag

   UPDATE: I kept researching and found on another support blog to try hiding the rulers and right away my brush quit lagging by at least 85-90% improvement. Actions taken: View > Rulers > Hide Rulers. Weird, but it worked for me. I hope this helps anyone else with this issue. Ideally, we'd like to have this fixed so that rules can stay open, but nice to have a quick fix too.

   ORIGINAL PROBLEM:
   I'm on a MacOS Catalina (most recent Mac upgrade). I'm using a Wacom Tablet (up-to-date drivers) and the subscription version of Adobe Illustrator. My brush is lagging so badly that it's impossible to draw correctly and in real-time. This is only happening in Adobe Illustrator and it is up-to-date. I've tested Adobe Photoshop using my Wacom Pen and brush tool and it works fine. So I've definitely ruled out that it's my Wacom driver and/or pen.

   I should add that before I updated my Mac I was using the CS6 box version. But after updating my Mac I was forced to purchase the subscription based programs because this killed the CS6 boxed version. Prior to all of this, my brushes/pen tool was working smoothing and not lagging. In other words, never had this problem before. I've tried looking through troubleshooting ideas and nothing is working. Please advise, this is my work tool and I need my brush and pen to work properly.

9. "Save As..." behaving like "Save a Copy..."

   Mac Catalina, Illustrator 2020. Anyone else experiencing this? Go to do a Save As and it saves a copy instead and keeps you in the original file? So annoying.

10. Objects deselect on copy or paste (Illustrator 2019)

    This is a bug, not an idea.

    Sometimes when copying an object or pasting, the copied or pasted object does not remain selected.

    This is far less than ideal, especially when using Paste in Front.

    Happens in Illustrator 2019 / OSX Catalina

11. Saving recovered file causes Adobe Illustrator 2020 to quit

    Illustrator unexpectedly quit which created some recovered files upon the reopening of the application. When trying to save this file, Illustrator quit again. This keeps happening and I am unable to continue with my work.

    I tried updating Illustrator however the same issue is happening.

    Operating system: mac catalina 10.15.3
    Adobe Illustrator version 24.1.2

12. Slow opening of the first document!!!

    I don't know if it happens to others, an Illustrator on a Windows machine "I would say performing, quite a lot" but this problem happens to me I think at least from the CC2018 / 2019/2020 version.

    I start the software, open a new empty document, or open an existing document (even of small, insignificant dimensions) the document takes a long time to open (it is not immediate).
    If I open a second document it opens in the right time, then it works as it should.
    The same thing happens if I close Illustrator and restart it.

    But before it DID NOT HAPPEN with older versions of Ai.

13. Pathfinder imprecise results

    Pathfinder distorts curves and these distortions create stray points and small vector artifacts when I "slice".

    This has been an issue from IL5 (pre-CS and pre-CC), when Pathfinder was first introduced.

    Until Adobe increased maximum magnification, it was hard to tell what was happening, but in CC I can clearly see that in Pathfinder, smooth curves distort. My guess is something analogous to mathematical rounding errors in defining the berzier curve.

    Sometimes, the distortion is very "squiggly", appears to be introducing the 'QuickDraw error (reported separately), and produces unusable results.

    While most of these errors and artifacts are essentially microscopic, and can be minimized by applying pathfinder to oversize art and scaling-down, it is still an issue and can be a serious problem if you're creating art that needs to be scaled-up to sizes where the errors and artifacts become conspicuous.

    If this does happen for you, please open your Pathfinder panel’s options and change the Precision value it has. Lowering the values improves results, especially on very long curved segments, but also increases the overall time a complex pathfinder operation takes.

    Please comment below if this advice helps — the team can use this feedback to reconsider the default value.

14. CMYK Hex Code Color Change

    Windows 10 Pro 18362.719 / Adobe Illustrator 24.0.1. (64bit)

    I downloaded and opened a CMYK/Vector file I received through Google Drive, and a specific color on the file was slightly brighter than the color that is supposed to be.

    I tried to replace the specific graphic with the original color by typing the hex code manually, but it also changed to the brighter color.

    I heard it has been a common issue that has been around, but is there any way to keep the color?

15. Metadata title isn't saving (24.0)

    When I save an illustrator file, it's stripping out the specified metadata title and replacing it with the filename upon re-opening the file. Even if I re-enter the info in Bridge, when I modify & save the file in Illustrator, it reverts to the file name.
    When I export the image though, it attaches whatever title is showing in the file info panel in Illustrator, regardless of whether it will "stick" after closing or not.

    Also to note, if I enter info into other fields it seems to work fine. It's only the Title that is being overridden.

16. SVG bug with "use" element

    Steps to reproduce
    1. Open IllustratorBug.svg in Adobe Illustrator
    2. Open the same file in Chrome or Firefox browser
    Result: Illustrator displays the image incorrectly. See the attached files.

17. Google Backup and Sync (aka Google Drive) locks Illustrator files and saving fails unless I quit Backup and Sync.

    This happens intermittently but frequently. Google support assures me this is not caused by them, though I don't believe it. Still, is there anything that can be done from Adobe's side?

18. Symbol color management is different from color settings

    Symbol color management is different from color settings

    Example: Default CMYK Color profile is ISO coated v2 ECI
    RGB profile: sRGB
    When in CMYK file make a fill square in some color (for ex. 0-0-0-100) and create from this symbol, the color in symbol (symbol editing mode) stay 0-0-0-100, but symbol instance in file show the different color: 75-66-64-76.

19. v24.2 swatches / pattern issues - either one or the other - different from fill drop down

    in the latest version v24.2 (june2020) my swatches dissapeared and if i go to defaults RGB and click on the first (white) and last and then the last pattern in the block then click ADD TO SWATCHES and nothing happens or it only adds the last pattern.

    i added one by one and it worked UNTIL i added a pattern and it erased all colour swatches and only left the patterns. this IS happening with the new update.

    and in the upper left hand (menu bar) if on the fill drop down, it does link to shows the swatches and patterns BUT sometimes shows 2x the copies.

    basically i have found in testing, as soon as you add a pattern to the swatch panel it deletes everything other than patterns

20. Illustrator 24.2 EPS title information changed to "Adobe Illustrator Artwork"

    Previously when saving eps files, the "Title" information embedded within the file would be the filename. It appears that with version 24.2 the eps title information defaults to "Adobe Illustrator Artwork". Can this be corrected back to the filename? Our RIP uses this title information and now all our files are being processed with the same name.
