2. Illustrator 30.3 Font Handling Issue

   The new 30.3 update for Mac introduced "improved font handling in Illustrator (macOS) for better consistency and reduced reliance on unsupported system resources"

   However, this seems to have broken auto font activation with the Typeface font manager.

   Is there a way to get this fixed?

   I would like to report an issue in Adobe Illustrator that seems to have been introduced in recent updates.

   Initial situation:
   When opening a PDF that was not saved with Illustrator editing capabilities, it is expected that continuous text blocks are split into multiple individual segments or lines. This behavior is known and not the issue.

   Previous behavior:
   Until a few updates ago, it was possible to select such a fragmented text block, copy it, and paste it into a newly created text field. The text was inserted as a single line, but the content order was correct (top to bottom). The only required step was manually restoring line breaks or paragraphs.

   Current behavior (issue):
   Since recent updates, the order of the pasted text segments is no longer correct.
   When copying and pasting a fragmented text block, Illustrator still merges everything into a single line, but the sequence of the content is incorrect.

   Based on observation, Illustrator no longer follows the visual reading order (top to bottom). Instead, it appears to process segments in a reversed or otherwise incorrect internal order (e.g. partially bottom to top).

   Impact:
   This makes the pasted text unusable without extensive manual correction. It is no longer sufficient to reinsert line breaks. Instead, the content must be manually reordered, which is error-prone and time-consuming. In many cases, it is faster to retype the text entirely.

   Example:
   A text block selected from top to bottom (starting with
   “entalkoholisierter Chardonnay”
   and ending with
   “… Anbau”)

   is pasted beginning with a lower segment such as
   “*aus kontrolliert biologischem …”
   followed by lines that originally appeared above it.
   This indicates that the segments are no longer processed in visual reading order.

   This issue did not occur in previous Illustrator versions using the same workflow.

4. Font changes from the current one to the previously used while typing

   I'm working on a document in which I used Avenir font, but for the most I use Myriad Pro. When I click with the Type tool I see in the character box I'm with the default font (Myriad Pro) and start typing. Then noticed I'm now in Avenir font!
   This bug is brand new with the latest update (29.1), I didn't add any issue of that type before.
   I'm on Windows 11 PC Core i7-13700 32 Go of RAM

   This issue has been fixed in 29.2 release. Please update your Illustrator to latest version through Creative Cloud Desktop.

5. In version 30.5.1, Illustrator stopped writing color settings to ACEConfigCache2.lst, the file used for color settings synchronization.

   Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and Bridge use ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Color/ACEConfigCache2.lst to store and synchronize their active color settings preset names.

   Up through Illustrator 30.5, Illustrator correctly wrote its own color settings information to this file. However, starting with version 30.5.1, it not only stops writing its color settings entry, but also removes the Illustrator 2026 entry from the file entirely.

   Illustrator 30.5.1 still appears to read color settings written by Bridge and can apply the corresponding preset correctly. However, given that it no longer maintains its own entry in ACEConfigCache2.lst, I would like to ask whether this behavior is intentional or if it is a defect.

6. Compatibility Issue in Illustrator v30.2 - PostScript Error <a1a1>

   Critical Update: This issue is not limited to specific files. Every single file saved or exported from version 30.2 encounters the same <a1a1> error, even when the document contains only a simple primitive shape (e.g., a single rectangle). This indicates a systemic failure in the PostScript generation engine of the v30.2 build on my system.

   Description
   Since updating to Adobe Illustrator v30.2, I have encountered a critical compatibility issue. Even when saving files for lower versions (Legacy formats), recipients are unable to open them. The files trigger a specific PostScript error regardless of how simple the vector data is. This issue does not occur in version 30.0, suggesting a bug introduced in the v30.2 update.

   Error Message
   Error: "The illustration cannot be opened. The illustration contains an illegal operand."

   Steps Taken (Troubleshooting attempted):
   To resolve this, I have tried the following methods, but none of them worked in v30.2:

   Saving as Legacy AI: Saved as CC Legacy and CS6 versions with "Create PDF Compatible File" unchecked.

   Exporting as EPS: Saved in various EPS versions (including Illustrator 10 EPS).

   Code Cleaning via SVG: Saved the file as SVG and re-imported it to save as AI again.

   Fresh Document: Created a completely new document and copied/pasted only the vector paths.

   Flattening: Expanded all appearances, outlined all fonts, and simplified paths to ensure only basic vectors remained.

   Current Status
   The issue persists only when the file is saved using v30.2.

   Rolling back to v30.0 resolves the issue completely. Files saved in v30.0 can be opened by others without any errors.

7. Illustrator forgets to undo the document color mode switch

   Here’s a simple test.
   1. Create and RGB-based document — the title says 'RGB'
   2. Draw something
   3. Change the color mode of the document into CMYK — the tab’s title changes accordingly (notice the History displays the generic 'Undo' instead of expected 'Document color mode CMYK')
   4. Draw something else again
   5. Start undoing steps, either with Cmd/Ctrl+Z or with the History panel. When you reach up the first object drawn, the tab’s title should display RGB — but it still says CMYK! ...and if you hover over the title, the hint appears saying it’s RGB (or not!) ...and if you draw something after this, it stays CMYK now. Ai forgets the document was an RGB one and never undoes it!

   If I try this in an older version, without History in it, like CC2017 — it works as expected.

   Here’s a simple test.
   1. Create and RGB-based document — the title says 'RGB'

8. Harmony Rules display all selected colors when recoloring artwork

   I want to premise this is likely a minor bug and doesn't really affect everything, but me+ others previously reported a color guide bug on 30.6 and there is a current bug with Recolor Artwork, so I assume this inconsistency might be helpful information.

   With a group of shapes selected (any amount), select Recolor Artwork with the Color Guide panel open.

   Once the Recolor Artwork menu opens, the Color Guide Harmony Rules panel is updated to contain every color within the selected artwork group.

   Rather than display the harmony group related to a single selected color, the panel updates to simply display all selected colors.

   I have attached a screen recording showing this process as well as a screenshot showing the updated panel behaviour.

   If necessary I can provide an example file but I imagine this is reproducable.

9. Adobe Illustrator freezes and crashes when using the Dimension Tool

   I’m experiencing an issue with the Dimension Tool in Adobe Illustrator. Whenever I activate the tool and try to use it, the entire program freezes and then crashes. This is interrupting my work.

10. Persistent Wacom driver warning in Illustrator on macOS Tahoe

    I am experiencing a persistent Wacom driver warning in Illustrator 2026 that appears despite my Wacom tablet working correctly.

    System:

    MacBook Pro M4 Pro
    macOS Tahoe 26
    Adobe Illustrator 2026 30.8
    Wacom Intuos Pro S (PTH-451)
    Wacom driver 6.4.9-2

    When launching, Illustrator constantly displays:

    “Illustrator found an issue with Wacom driver. Upgrade to the latest version of Wacom driver and then enable your Wacom device using Preferences > Devices > Enable Wacom Option.”

    I have followed the recommended troubleshooting steps. WacomTabletDriver is running, the Enable Wacom option remains enabled, macOS permissions are correctly configured and both the tablet and pressure sensitivity work perfectly.

    The issue is the warning itself. It appears every time Illustrator launches and, when opening an .ai file from Finder using Open With → Adobe Illustrator, the warning blocks the file from opening until it is dismissed.

    This is extremely disruptive to my workflow. PTH-451 is an older model that is not supported by newer Wacom drivers, so updating the driver is not a viable solution.

11. ExtendScript evaluates nested ternary operator with wrong (left) associativity

    Component: ExtendScript engine (scripting). Affects Illustrator, likely all ExtendScript hosts.

    Environment (confirmed):

    Illustrator 30.8.2, ExtendScript 4.5.6, macOS 15.7.9
    Illustrator CS6 16.0.0, ExtendScript 4.2.12, Windows
    Old and new builds, both platforms.

    Summary:
    ExtendScript evaluates a nested conditional expression a ? b : c ? d : e as if it were left-associative, i.e. (a ? b : c) ? d : e, instead of the ECMAScript-required right-associative a ? b : (c ? d : e). ECMA-262 defines ConditionalExpression as right-associative, and this has been the case since the 3rd edition that ExtendScript targets. When any condition before the last is true, the result is the wrong branch, usually the final alternative.

    Steps to reproduce:

    Run a .jsx with #target illustrator (no document needed).
    Execute:
    Expected result: A, because the first condition is true.
    Actual result: C.

    Confirmation that associativity is the cause: the explicitly grouped form returns the correct value.

    Systematic test: I ran all 8 boolean combinations of three conditions across nested, grouped and if/else variants, 24 cases in total, with expected values taken from fixed reference tables rather than from the expression under test. The nested ternary was wrong in 10 cases. The grouped ternary, the if/else chain and a lookup-object implementation were correct in all 24. I can attach the probe script if that helps.

    Related, same parser: this is the second associativity/precedence issue I have found in the ExtendScript parser. The first one is here:

    In that one, && and || share a precedence level, so true || false && false returns false where ECMAScript requires true. Both issues reproduce on the same builds listed above, which suggests the expression parser rather than any individual operator.

    Impact: code that is valid ECMAScript silently produces wrong results. It is particularly dangerous with minifiers, because Google Closure Compiler rewrites if/else-if chains into nested ternaries. Source that reads correctly then ships broken. In my case the script selected the wrong UI language for an end user, and the source had a plain if/else chain with no ternary in it at all.

    Workaround: parenthesize nested ternaries explicitly, use if/else, or use a lookup object. For minified builds, a post-process step that parenthesizes nested ternaries is safe, since it is a no-op in standard ECMAScript.

    Request: fix ConditionalExpression associativity and logical operator precedence in the ExtendScript parser to match ECMA-262.

    Existing files created in illustrator (on a different desktop) when opened in v29.5 & v29.5.1 display incorrect fonts - the font is changed to a completely different font (e.g. Myriad Pro will be changed to Times New Roman) throughout the document. All the text in that font family is changed, but other fonts used in the document will display correctly. The font is installed correctly on the system and the changed font can be changed to the correct font by selecting the font from the illustrator font list. The thumbnails display correctly in Bridge before opening in illustrator. Reverting illustrator back to v29.4 resolves the problem

    This fix is included in Illustrator v29.8.2.

    If you reopen files that were not saved while the font change issue was present, the problem should no longer occur.

    Please let us know if you continue to experience the issue in any new files created with v29.8.2.

13. Generate Vectors "Add Reference" on homescreen interfering with spacebar input

    I am on Mac Tahoe 21.6.2 and Illustrator 30.8.1

    The steps are very simple:

    1. Open Illustrator 2: Press spacebar
    2. The "Add Reference" file dialog pops up

    This is the bare minimum to reproduce, however the file dialogue will appear if you:

    1. Open a specific file with Illustrator closed
    2. Upon opening your file, pressing space will still open the "Add Reference" dialogue, despite being off the homescreen/working in a file.

    Attached is a screen recording showing this process. A current workaround would be to click Hide Suggestions, however I find Illustrator does not always remember this choice. The user should have the decision to toggle the features on or off if they are undesired.

    I am on Mac Tahoe 21.6.2 and Illustrator 30.8.1

    The steps are very simple:

    1. Open Illustrator 2: Press spacebar
    2. The "Add Reference" file dialog pops up

    This is the bare minimum to reproduce, however the file dialogue will appear if you:

    1. Open a specific file with Illustrator closed
    2. Upon opening your file, pressing space will still open the "Add Reference" dialogue, despite being off the homescreen/working in a file.

    Attached is a screen recording showing this process. A current workaround would be to click Hide Suggestions, however I find Illustrator does not always remember… more

14. Broken Link / Gaussian Blur dialogs displayed together make Illustrator UI disabled

    I’ve been experiencing this Illustrator bug for years, and it has consistently behaved the same way.

    It only happens when I already have one or more Illustrator documents open and then open another file with a broken/missing linked image. If a Gaussian Blur progress window appears in front of the missing-link warning, Illustrator becomes stuck afterward: the dialogs disappear, but the canvas can no longer be interacted with and nearly all menu commands are grayed out. I can still save using cmd+s, and switch between documents, but can’t interact with anything on the canvas. Can click the toolbar too, but it doesn’t change the cursor.

    If the Gaussian Blur progress window stays behind the missing-link warning, the problem does not occur.

    It also never happens when the affected file is the first document opened after launching Illustrator.

    I am currently able to reproduce this in Illustrator 30.7 on macOS.

    1. ACMYKモードのドキュメントを開く
    2. オーバープリントプレビューに切替る。
    3. 分版プレビューパネルでブラックをオフにする。
    4. アートボードヒアリ上に表示されるアートボード名も消える。

    期待する結果
    アートボード名が表示されたままになる

    実際の結果
    アートボード名がページコンテンツのブラック成分と共に非表示になる。

    代替手順
    実際のデータに対する影響は無い。利便性の問題だけなので特に対処する必要はない。アートボード名の表示を25%程度のグレースケールで表示しているために起こるものなので機会があればCMYK各成分が入った状態もしくは分版プレビューの影響を受けないように変更してください。

17. Files don’t save! Saving starts and never finishes and can’t be cancelled

    The saving process starts as soon as I ask for it, but then it never finishes.
    This issue is happening since I download the latest version (29.7.1)

    The problem is not even letting me to close the program in the computer because "Illustrator is currently saving the document and will close it once the save process is complete" signal is appearing so I need to finish the task from the task administrator in the computer

18. A border around active artboard, colored as a guide

    Complaint! The new highlighted border around the active artboard is extremely distracting when trying to assess a design as a whole. This was not present until a recent update. Please add an option to disable this highlight entirely, or at minimum let us customize its color and width.

19. Space characters differ in Illustrator and InDesign

    OS: MacOS 15.7.7 (24G720)
    Illustrator-Version: 30.6
    Illustrator offers the space characters Quarter, Half-quarter, Twenty-fourth, Eighth.
    Using these space characters in Adobe Illustrator leads to completely different results (spacing) than in Adobe InDesign.
    Is this a program error or a font error?
    I would also like to see the space characters menu expanded to include the Sixth, Eighth, Quarter, Third.

    The font team confirmed Illustrator is using the space glyph instead of the Unicode glyph (U+2009). Logged and will be fixed.

20. Artboard Names changes revert if names are tabbed between.

    When updating multiple artboard names via the Artboards Panel, pressing Tab advances to the next artboard name. However, if multiple artboard names are changed this way, and the changes are reflected in the panel, these changes are not reflected in the export artboards panel, and clicking in to edit any artboard name again causes them all to revert to their previous names.
