2. Font styles applied to portions of text 'slide' / shift positions when area type overflows

   Illustrator 29.7.1 on Mac Ventura 13.5.2 (22G91)

   I dont' know whether it's related to this current issue, but now I have parts of my text that change appearance when I'm trying to change the Font weight of another part, or when I try to type more text.

   The workaround I have found it copy-pasting the text into a new Textbox. But still, this needs to be fixed.

   We have fixed this issue in latest Illustrator release - v29.8.1

   Please update to this version and let us know any observations.

3. Objects with Perceptual Gradients applied (and no Dither) gets rasterized fully on PDF export, instead of becoming clipped rasters

   It still rasterizes the whole object, rather than converting it to a clipped bitmap (unless you also enable Dither though).

4. Font drop down list won't allow font selection.

   Mac Studio
   Sequoia 15.6.1
   Adobe Illustrator 2026 version 30

   My font drop-down list allows me to preview fonts, but not select them. If I preview and click a new font to select it, the type window closes and my select text reverts to the original font. I've tried using the text tool and the selection tool - same problem. To change a font, I must type the ENTIRE NAME in the font window and hit return. Very time consuming. :(

5. Windows Explorer freezes when Saving As PDF

   • Fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. Fully up-to date (as of Feb. 27, 2026). DXdiag attached.
   • Illustrator 30.2.1 (64-bit) ** Only Illustrator and Photoshop installed (via Creative Cloud application)

   1. Open AI file
   2. Save as.. PDF
   3. Choose a PDF option, click Save
   4. Click Windows Start Menu icon (or any other icon on the task bar) - Windows task bar (explorer.exe) will be unresponsive
   5. To remedy, Ctrl-Alt-Del and open Task Manager -> Right-click Windows Explorer -> Restart

   I literally have to do this every time I start Illustrator. It then seemingly stay stable for awhile, but then will randomly lock up Windows Explorer again after working for awhile. It seems to most often happen when using the Type tool, and clicking on other parts of the Workspace.

   This is infuriating, and has caused me to entirely reinstall the Operating System to try to find a remedy. Nothing has worked.

   Enabling Show Tool Tips in Preferences > General helped to have the names for swatches on hover back

7. Area type centering option not working, text jumps to top of frame

   When creating text frame with area type (it is not threaded nor multiple columns) set to center vertically, the text jumps to the top and will not center align at all. This is a function I have used in 2025 with no issues and now it will not work at all in 2026.

8. Illustrator 2026 adds a previously selected object to a newly selected one when moving the new one

   Illustrator 30.0

   Just selecting and moving basic objects is not functioning correctly. Was this tested at all? I've restarted the app, I've restarted my machine. It's just buggy AF. I've had to revert to previous version just to get a simple chart done.

9. Illustrator 29.8.2 saved .ai-file containing outdated pdf-version

   We have a user that several times has encountered a serious bug with saving documents. Currently on version 29.8.2 (the latest available for us in the CC desktop app as of today). Windows 11.

   Attached is an AI file showing the bug. Try opening it in e.g. Photoshop and Illustrator. You get very different versions.

   It is a "PDF compatible file" saved from Illustrator, so it contains a PDF version for other apps to use, but this embedded PDF version shows an older version of the illustrator file (so opening it in Illustrator looks fine, but when using it in e.g. InDesign, you get an old version)!

   Steps (as far as I can gather):

   1. An Illustrator file has been opened in Illustrator 29.8.2.
   2. The illustrator file has been saved (File > Save) - likely a couple of times - then closed.

   Result: AI file with outdated version in the embedded PDF. All other apps show the wrong version.

   To fix it, all we have to do is re-save the file, and then it works. So it's not consistent, and hard to reproduce.

   At least during this last occurence, the user was working from home via VPN, so the network connection was a bit slower than usual if that matters. The Illustrator preferences for saving should be the default settings (attached screenshot). I believe the setting for "slow networks" does so that Illustrator saves the file locally before transferring it, so network speed shouldn't affect the result?

   Since it has happened at least a few times, we now have to manually check every time we save a file if it is actually properly saved (by checking it in InDesign/FrameMaker/etc. to verify the latest changes are included). Not good.

    Workaround
    After converting to a compound path, reapply adjustments using the Gradient Tool.

12. Renaming an artboard in Artboards panel scrolls to have the item on top

    The way it works in the newest update is infuriating.
    In the newest update, when I change the name of an artboard in the Artboards panel, the panel automatically scrolls to have that item at the top. I keep losing my place in the Artboards panel and I can't keep track of what I'm doing. I don't see a benefit of the list jumping around all the time. It's horrific to work with.

13. Images embedded disappear after reopening the file 2025

    This problem has been occurring for a few weeks: when I reopen a file containing embedded images, they disappear, turn white, or turn the original image color.

    In 15 years of using ILLUSTRATOR, this has never happened, and it's truly annoying. Some files contain more than 50 images, and if a small one disappears, it's unmanageable.

    The strange thing is that it doesn't happen with all files; it's random.

    I'm working with Illustrator 30.0, but the same thing happened with 29.8.3.

    Looking through various forums, you may already be aware of this problem.

    Please fix it, as we pay a very expensive subscription.

14. Text gets duplicated in the second threaded area

    Good morning,
    Often, when I have two linked text boxes, the text placed in the first box is repeated in the second box. This doesn't happen right at the beginning, when I link the text boxes. I notice this later, when I review the work done. Can you tell me why this happens?

15. Text copied from web paste white but swatch says its black

    Since version 30.1 anytime i paste text into a file, the text will past white instead of black like it use too. All swatch areas say it is black but the text will be white. This has gotten pretty annoying because everytime i paste in text i have to change the color of it.

    When I try to open files using File > Open… or the shortcut Cmd + O, the “Open” dialog window does not appear immediately. Sometimes it takes several seconds, and other times it takes minutes before it shows up.

    Because of the delay, if I press Cmd+O again or click File > Open repeatedly, Illustrator eventually opens multiple overlapping blank windows. These windows appear with a dark/empty content area and no file information loaded.
    They also become unresponsive for a while.

    Steps to Reproduce
    1. Open Adobe Illustrator 30.0.
    2. Go to File > Open…, or press Cmd + O.
    3. Wait for the dialog to appear (it delays significantly).

    5. Illustrator eventually opens several overlapping empty windows.

    The Open… dialog should appear instantly, in the usual macOS native window, showing recent files, local files, and cloud documents.

    The team has identified an issue for a small subset of users who are on the Windows operating system and also have their network traffic routed through a proxy.

    A temporary solution to this issue is the following:

    1. Open up PowerShell
    2. Copy and paste the following commands:

    cd "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2026"$env:WEBVIEW2_ADDITIONAL_BROWSER_ARGUMENTS = "--use-system-proxy-resolver"& '.\Illustrator.exe'

17. All Text Disappeared!

    I saved my file as .aic but the next time I opened it all the text layers disappeared! Everytime I open the file it automatically creates a recovered version also, but still no text. I also cannot download the version from cloud that shows the last version I made with all the text still visible.

18. Swatches panel not correctly displaying "Registration Black" swatch label, showing random characters, in a template file

    Opening up a company template .ait file and Swatches panel not displaying "Registration Black", but instead showing random characters. Wanted to know cause, if can be prevented, and/or corrected. Also if this is just some odd bug.

    We do have a central server location to access file since we do have in-office and remote workers. Everyone is instructed though regardless of location to grab files and work locally, but can not guarantee that this is done 100% of the time.

19. Paragraph and Character Styles that have been deleted reappear when document is saved.

20. Pattern Scale Not Working

    My pattern scale has stopped working recently for user created patterns (it works ok on the default patterns). Previously I could create a pattern but dragging into the swatch menu, and then when I dragged the corners, the scale of the pattern would adjust along with the size of my shape. Now it does not.

    I have checked that "Transform Both (object and pattern)" is selected from the Transform Panel dropdown, along with Settings > General > Transform Pattern Tiles is also checked on.

    This has been going on since late July 2025 - I've tried every troubleshooting method I can think of along with suggestions I've seen posted. This morning I reset my illustrator preferences (didn't work) and just unstalled and reinstalled Illustrator via Creative Cloud (fulling removing preferences during uninstall). It is still not working after the reinstall.

    Please help! This is a large part of my workflow that's affected. The ONLY way I can get a pattern to scale now is through cmd+click on object > Transform > Scale - which is cumbersome. Is there anything else I can try to reinstate the normal pattern scaling?

    Operating System: Mac OS Sequoia 15.6, Adobe Illustrator 29.7.1

    Seems to work fine in the latest general 2025 release, build 30.0.

    Please comment back if it still misbehaves.
