  1. Illustrator strips out XMP metadata when exporting PNGs

    From CS1 until CC2017 when exporting PNGs the XMP metadata was preserved; Adobe BROKE this in CC2018/2019/2020! It works for all other file formats. We have production customers that rely on the XMP metadata matching between the Illustrator file and the exported PNG. FIX IT! Photoshop fixed this bug in their most recent release - why are you behind?

  2. 2020 .AI documents only opening .PDF pages in Illustrator CC

    I am using Illustrator 2020 on my personal laptop, saving work to my iCloud to continue working on the files in university.
    Recently the files will only open as a .pdf (giving options for pages and not showing all the information) on the university Illustrator CC.

    I could in theory Save as- Illustrator CC and presumably that would open okay, but it's annoying to have to do that every time!

  4. BRING BACK FUNCTIONALITY OF ACTIONS

    As we all know all too well, the "engineering team" adds to and removes features from AI, apparently completely without considering its effective use or convenience.

    Their latest trick: many operations won't record automatically anymore in Actions going from v23 to v24. Please bring that back.

    Functions not recorded anymore so far:

    – Create text frame
    – Cmd/ctrl-0 Fit Artboard in Window
    – Save As (including location, file type eg PDF and its settings)
    – Close

    I you find more please add them to the list.

    I'm getting so tired of this ignorant behaviour!

  5. Epson P800 Film Continuous Feed Issue

    When sending files to our Epson SC P800 using Ai 24.0.3 the printer continuously feed rolled film media until printing is cancelled at the printer instead of printing the file. The same file will print successfully when using InDesign 15.0.1 and Illustrator 23.1.1, but not Illustrator 2020 (24.0.3)

    System:
    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)
    Mac OS Catalina (10.15.3)
    Processor 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5

    Printer:
    Epson SureColor P800
    using 13" DarkStar Film media (roll)

    Software:
    Ai 24.0.3
    AccuRIP Black Pearl-SE 1.5.51 (issue occurs with and without software active)

  6. Problem with elements' IDs when export to SVG

    Sometimes when I export an AI file with some elements' names to an SVG file, it renames the IDs like if there are some duplicates.

    Usually I can fix it by renaming the "duplicate" elements with a dummy name and then rename them back, but often it doesn't work and I have to delete the file and work on a new one, copying and pasting only the "safe" elements and redrawing the "duplicate" ones.

    Sometimes it appends a special character on the IDs and when it happen I always have to work on a new file.

  7. Layer arrow disappear

    Sometimes when I click on a layer arrow to hide the sub-layers, the layer arrow disapper and I cannot click it anymore. To make it reappear, I have to select another layer.

  8. Scrollbars missing - Windows 10 - build 23.1 (64 bit)

    The scrollbars are missing when I open a file with multiple artboards. I see the zoom percent and artboard navigation inputs but they are floating almost 150px above where they should be. I've attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing.
    This issue only goes away for the current session when I fiddle with the UI settings, but comes back when I next start Illustrator.

  9. Selecting a font open Glyphs panel

    When I select a font or a previously selected font from the Drop Down Font menu the Glyphs tab (even though I don't have it selected or open anywhere else) it opens across my whole workspace.

  10. Delete Anchor Point tool prefers bottom object instead of the selected one

    When two anchors of different objects are layered on top of one another, the delete Anchor Point Tool will always select the bottom object, whether I have the top object selected or not. The Add Anchor Point tool and Direct Selection will select the top object, but I want to be able to delete the anchor from the top object without having to go into the isolation mode. This wasn't the case in the previous version.

  11. Text fields not immediately active when renaming library items

    Renaming library items takes several steps to ensure you are in the text field and any keyboard commands will not trigger tools/menu items.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Click on an object,
    2. Drag to Library panel—often takes several times as noted in the video
    (the libraries panel and new documents from libraries is flawed and not as efficient as Adobe Max presentations allude to, but that's another post)
    3. After item successfully copied to Libraries, right click it in the libraries panel and click Rename
    4. CLICK AGAIN ON THE TEXT FIELD OF THE LIBRARY ITEM

    Repro steps:
    [1] Open Adobe Illustrator 24.0.3
    [2] Create a new project
    [3] Place a new text on the artboard
    [3.5] Install Jack's Candlestick Regular font (see attached)
    [4] Change the Font of the text to Jack's Candlestick Regular
    [5] File / Save a copy...
    [6] Format Adobe PDF (pdf)
    [7] Adobe PDF Preset: Amazon KDP Paperback (see attached)
    [8] Save PDF
    [9] Open PDF in Acrobat Reader Build: 20.6.20034.366983

    Expected: the document opens with no issues

  13. A new artboard created in a template with two artboards gets 'Artboard 2' name instead of 'Artboard 3'

    My default document I use to begin projects has two artboards. If I add a third artboard, it will be named "Artboard 2" and I have to go into the settings and rename it "Artboard 3" in order to print properly.

  14. Illustrator 2020 on 4K monitor

    Has Illustrator been designed to work on 4K monitors with AMD GPUs? Because my experience is that it isn't; the performance is horrific. Same goes for InDesign and Bridge. Will this ever be addressed?

    Mac Pro 5,1; 10.15.3; 48Gb RAM; 12 core; M.2 drive; Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT GPU.

  15. Illustrator to PS Smart object updating broken

    Bug persists on both windows and Mac. Illustrator v2020.x (issue not present before v2020.x)

    BUG: When using smart objects in photoshop, linked to an illustrator file: after updating illustrator file and saving, the smart object always reverts to first artboard in PS and artwork shifts upon re-updating is PS.

    Steps:
    1. Make new layer in PS. Right Click layer->Convert to smart object
    2. Right click PS layer->replace contents->select a multi artboard illustrator
    file -> select any artboard other than the first ->place as "media box".

  16. `let` declarations not supported in .jsx files

    Running this script:

     let foo = "Foo";
     const bar = "Bar";
     alert(foo + bar);

    produces the following error:

     Error 25: Expected: ;.
     Line: 1
     -> let foo = "Foo";

    However, replacing let with const works fine. According to this page (https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/legacy-and-extend-script-engine.html), ES6 language features are ostensibly supported, but only var and const bindings seem to work.

  17. Type on a path tool resizing causes crash

    I have the latest version of Illustrator CC 2020 v. 24.0.3. Unfortunately, everytime I try to resize a type on path, Illustrator crashes. I have restarted the app and system and that didn't help.
