  2. AI 24 freezes on startup (Mac OS Catalina)

    Illustrator 24 (2020) will not launch on my MacBook Pro Retina.

    1. I'm running Catalina 10.15.1 and Illustrator 2020.
    2. The applications is installed and launched
    3. I expect the app to open
    4. It freezes upon startup

    I had the same issue with InDesign 2020 freezing up (causing me to have to Force Quit the stalled app), but Photoshop 2020 did not have any issues.

    I was able to get InDesign 2020 to launch by restarting in Safe Mode, then disabling the "Show Home screen when no documents are open" Preference, then restarting normally.

  5. Copy objects from Illustrator to Photoshop

  6. Illustrator Gradient looses blending when copied and pasted.

    Trying to copy and paste a design with a gradient on it, And the gradient apears chunkier and sharper when copied into a new canvas. If i copy on the original canvas its fine, but not on a new one. Ive checked the grain values and opacity and they are all the same. Wondering if any one has a sultion to fix this bug?

  7. keeps freezing..brush, text tools

    ai 2020 just downloaded keeps freezing...windows 10..nonsense..after paying all this money..everytime I use it it freezes..this is a brand new laptop I bought just for this...1tb/ 256 ss drive..nonsense

  8. UI goes crazy after Separations View and 'Clinging' bounding boxes?

    Hi

    Have a couple of bugs which constantly keep cropping up.

    1. When using the Separations Preview, after turning it off again, I get white lines over the screen when scrolling around the page. The more I scroll, the more appear. I can rectify by floating the window, but that's not really a 'fix'...

    2. Randomly/Occasionally I get a bounding box which 'sticks' to one item on the artboards – so whatever obect I select, the selection/bounding box will highlight both that and other object. Seems to randomly un-stick itself, but usually only sorted by closing the file.

  9. Can't find the basic pantone colors

    I can't find certain Pantone colors in the swatch library anymore. For example Pantone 871 C (standard gold color) i can find in the 2019 by just typing it in the search bar, but in the 2020 version it doesn't recognise it... even if i import another swatch library it doesn't show it at all, but i'm certain it's in there.

  10. Unable to Merge swatches, screen freezes

    In latest version of Illustrator 2020, I am running the script that brings Swatch Conflict Dialog, which is ok but it does not allow me to merge swatches. I cannot select or change radio button selection. I have attached the screenshot of the dialog.

    You can disable alerts during script execution with below method

    app.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DONTDISPLAYALERTS;

    This assumes the default option selected in the dialog and proceed with further script execution.

  11. Toggling outline view should not modify file

    When toggling Preview/Outline mode, the current file behaves as though a modification was made, even though nothing appears in the Undo history.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open an existing AI file
    2. Go to "View" menu
    3. Select "Outline" (or "Preview", if the file was saved whilst in Outline view)
    4. Go to "Undo" menu
    5. Notice there's nothing to undo

    This is only a nitpick, but it's been gnawing at me for a while.

  12. CC 2020 gradient tool not updating result live, only when releasing the mouse button (like in CC 2018)

    In CC 2019, when using the gradient tool to apply or modify a gradient, the result of using the tool was live updated as you applied/moved it. Now in CC 2020, the tool has reverted back to how it was in CC 2018, meaning you have to let go of the mouse button to see the result. Seeing the result live saves time for me and makes it easier to get a satisfying result quicker.

    I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.0.2 which is available worldwide now.

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

  13. Using the newest version of Illustrator won't let me use new files for older illustrator versions (ex: illustrator at school)

    Opening Illustrator files created last night on the newer version on my home computer won't load at school on an older version of Illustrator. The files are completely missing artwork. You can see all the components on the recently opened page, but when you open the file. The artwork doesn't load.

    Hi Deborah,
    We have bumped up the file format in AI 2020 so any file created in AI 2020 is not compatible in older versions. Please do a save as Illustrator CC version before sharing the file.
    The older release should also be warning users that the file was created in a new version and will have some data loss.

  14. AI 2020 V.24 Unknown Error while saving in AI "when a PDF joboption file is present in the adobe PDF preferences folder"

    Just updated to V.24.
    There is a critical bug while saving on an external hard drive or a network storage. The saving process ends with a generic error and the file just DISAPPEAR from the server.

    I'm on MacOS 10.14.6

    Thanks for reporting the issue .
    We have fixed the bug which was orignally reported but it seems some users are still facing the issue.

    We are not able to reproduce this issue in house now ,Kindly provide following info to nail down this issue:

    1)Kindly provide some video , Test file(Via File→Package) & some steps with which you are facing issue and share with us at ShareWithAI@adobe.com .

    2)Please try the below mentioned workaround and let us know if that helps:

    If you do not use custom Adobe PDF presets/joboptions or not heard of it then follow the below steps
    1. Navigate to user presets folder
    Win: appdata\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings
    2. Rename the folder to “Settings old” and create a new empty folder “Settings” in the same place
    3. Launch Illustrator and check if you can save the document

  16. Expand greyed out for Blended variable width strokes

    Create a stroke with variable width profile.
    Duplicate it.
    Blend he two with some steps.
    Try to expand the Blend:
    It's greyed out - only expand appearance is available.

  17. ILLUSTRATOR 2020 CRASHES ON SCRIPTS - SYMLINK - APPLE

    Hi, We are using with our company the folder Scripts (Presets Illustrator) that is connected to a Cloud folder with a Symbolic Link (Apple) = Production workflow. It allways worked in previous versions but after installing Illustrator 2020 - Illustrator allways crashed when you go to main menu "File". Can you give us a solutions for this! Urgent issue for us !

  18. Auto spell checker wants to capitalise new lines after forced line breaks

    This is a bug report for the new auto spell checker feature in Illustrator 2020.

    It does not understand that when you force a line break (using shift-return, not making a new paragraph with return), it’s not a new sentence.

    So it wants to capitalise the first word on the new line.

    This makes no sense and does not match the way it works in InDesign.

  20. Closing while saving dialogue box has a grammatical error.

    The close-while-saving dialogue box says "Close anyways" as an option which bugs me because it should read as "anyway" not "anyways." The latter is grammatically incorrect. Not to mention that "getting saved" is also wrong and should be "being saved"
