  1. SCREEN IS ALL BLACK ON OPENING EXISTING FILE

    Just updated to latest version of Illustrator this morning and when I open an existing file to work on it, the entire art board is BLACK. Only way to fix the problem is resize the Mac art board window. My whole team is experiencing this problem. PLEASE FIX ASAP.

    Also copy-and-paste from illustrator to indesign seems like it has been disabled as well. Come on, folks... this is not good.... Super unhappy.

    We have reverted back to the previous version in the meantime.

  2. Eydropper changes font when applying color from an image...

    When using the eyedropper to grab color from an image, and then place that color onto text (by holding down the ALT key). AI changes the font.

  3. AI displays the START SCREEN on opening the file and the document view do not switches (refreshes) the file content.

    v 22.1

    When trying to open an existing file while Illustrator is closed, the software will lag and then hang on the opening screen. The file appears to be opened in the background, but there's no way to access or see it. The opening screen will give options to open additional files or create a new one (as usual) but when trying to do either, nothing will open and no New File Options menu will appear.

    Everything will work normally only if I open Illustrator first and then the file.

    Thank you all for reporting this issue and providing us your valuable feedback.

    What we have found out so far is that this issue can happen in multiple workflows. For clear tracking, validation and closure. We will closing this thread for given below two scenarios which we believe are fixed now:

    1)Double click any Ai file to launch Illustrator
    2)Placing files in Illustrator via Bridge.

  4. Discretionary ligatures get displayed even when disabled

    The discretionary "st" ligature is showing on Arial and Times New Roman when I have discretionary ligatures turned off and standard ligatures turned on.

  5. Rasterizing artwork Overprints being discarded

    When you rasterize art that has overprints the overprints are being discarded.
    Illustrator CC2018 22.1
    See screenshots attached. The picture showing dragon scales are displayed as Vector art still and Overprint preview on. Once rasterized the scales disappear.

  6. Placing/updating AI file links in INDD after update takes a very very very long time.

    After updating AI and INDD, placing AI files into INDD is taking a very long time. I made an update to an AI file that was placed into an existing INDD files that contains 13 placed AI files. I only updated a few of the linked AI files. Prior to the AI and INDD update, updating these placed links took a few seconds each max. Now, just to update the two links takes about 2 minutes.

    This MAY be an AI bug, but I don't know how make that determination as I updated bothat the same time.

  7. Font Suggestion/Preview Font NOT Working on MAC's

    I select a text box on my art board and go to the character palette to change the font. I was able to use the arrow keys up and down and see the font change on the art board. This feature no longer works with CC2018 Mac.

    Or I was able to start typing a font name into the Character Palette and suggestions would pop up. This feature no longer works with CC2018 Mac.

    I find this very irritating and a difficult way to work. This only happens on my MAC, my PC still works.

  8. Mac is frozen when moving objects around

    Hi, I'm using Illustrator CC on a Macbook (High Sierra). It very often freezes completely and nothing helps, but hard reset. It's very annoying, as this happens 10-15 times when making a Figure for a publication. It happens when moving simple objects around. I tried to reinstall and to purge the preferences, nothing really helps. Can someone help?

  9. Transform Panel in Properties – Nudge using arrow keys problem

    In investigating my own question from in the user forum (https://forums.adobe.com/message/10238447#) I discovered that there is a disconnect between the Transform panel that is embedded in the properties panel and the Transform panel that you access via the Window dropdown.

    The free floating TRANSFORM panel you access from the Window dropdown works just like it always did... when I put my cursor in the X, Y, W or H and click an up or down arrow key it first rounds to the nearest .125" then increases or decreases .125" at a time (assuming the units are set to…

  10. cant do anything within the latest version of illustrate

    when adding two items and then trying to manipulate them I am getting the attached image. this is happening when i try to do any kind of task in Illustrator. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall.

    Any help would be great.
    I am running 22.1 (64 bit) with the following system Information:

    System Architecture: x64

  12. Adding Bleed to Previously Saved Files

    I use Adobe CC. I've been trying to add bleed to a previously saved file without bleed. When I open the file then go to >document setup< I am able to add a 1" bleed, but the red bleed line doesn't appear around my artboards once I click ok. Then when I go back into >document setup< it shows that the bleed has been saved, but it is still not visible in the art files.

  14. Using Tab to advance to next dialog box field only works occasionally

    Editing text in latest Illustrator (immediately after update)... can't tab between font-size and leading fields - I can get it to work momentarily by closing the box and trying again, but the big returns the next time I try to edit text.

  16. Linked assets in CC Libraries render "file not readable"

    Having assets linked in CC Libraries renders the master AI file unreadable on another machine, despite being signed in on the same account. If I open the file on the original computer and collect it to a local folder, the file opens. This defeats the purpose of the Library.

  17. resaving bug

    When Illustrator was updated to CC2018, I began having a recurring (and very annoying) issue: whenever I try to resave an open file, Illustrator crashes. Sometimes it will also crash if I do too many other actions in a row, though I can't say for sure what triggers that (if it is something consistent). I'm running it on a 2017 iMac with High Sierra. I report this every time it happens.

  18. Slow doing anything.

    When I open the program, everything is going and moving fast, after awhile it gets really slow!
    I understand that it maybe after awhile the cache gets full and the program gets to operate slower but this is not the case here.
    With previous versions I didn't have to close and open the program in order for it to speed up. I would go for weeks not needing to close it. Right now in just couple of hours the program works from fast to being slow for no reason.

  19. Illustrator can't read it's own files properly

    Looses bitmap figure embedded in .ai file, reports the bitmap is missing when opening. While other software opens the file just right. Including Adobe Acrobat, Gmail preview, apple finder preview and Affinity Designer.

    I made a file using Adobe illustrator, this file contains two jpg images. When I save the file and open it using illustrator on two different computers, a dialoge appears complaining the jpgs are missing and offer to replace them.
    Oddly other software packages read the same file just fine, INCLUDING the allegedly missing jpg images, and in good quality.

  20. Unwanted characters appearing when outlining text.

    When using Type > Create Outlines, there is a chance of unwanted characters appearing.

    Attached is a file where the error is reproducible. Notice how an additional "d" and "g" appear with you outline the text.

    This file was created using Ai CC v22.0.1 and according to forum posts ive found, this issue has existed since CS4 or possibly earlier.

    I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
