2. Direct Select tool selecting unnecessary groups

   Steps to repeat making unecessary groups (just one of many ways) in order to test how they break the direct select tool, and cause unpredictable appearances:

   1) make a rectangle.
   2) apply a "3D Extrude & Bevel" effect
   3) Expand appearance

   Now that you've flattened your 3D object, you'll have an extra 4 unnecessary groups come along for the ride. But you won't know this unless you use Vector Firstaid, or use the appearance panel to manually inspect the situation (argh!).

   4) Now use the direct select tool to click in the centre of one paths of the shape (direct select one of the paths – not a line or point)
   5) look in the appearance panel

   Expected behaviour: the appearance panel should display the path (as usual)

   Actual behaviour: the appearance panel displays the (unnecessary) group above the path

   Result: if you modify the appearance of the selection using the eye dropper, or the appearance panel, the modification is applied to the group. This appearance will interact with the appearances on the path bellow, as well as the (necessary) group above, causing anomalous behaviour. This requires the user to either manually enter the path appearance by double clicking in the panel, to manually remove the unnecessary group, or to use an additional paid plugin.

   Unnecessary groups are a routine part of using Illustrator. They don't just add bloat - they get in the way of the direct select tool and cause unpredictable appearances.

   Suggested solution: ensure that the direct select tool ALWAYS directly selects the target art item, and never a group.

   Bonus points for creating fewer unecessary groups as a matter of course.

3. Graphic Styles lost, duplicated and hard to manage in general.

   I have painstakingly applied graphic styles to hundreds of icons (the final icon library is for a large CAD application and comprises nearly 2600 icons) but all of a sudden, the styles are not recognised any more. Objects are still graphically the same but when I select an object, the styles panel does not light up where it should.
   I have been having trouble getting graphic styles to work properly with styles getting duplicated and the very clunky way of saving and reapplying graphic styles to objects. This issue just makes me think I shouldn't bother. What are Graphic Styles actually for if not for sticking to a design system that can be tweaked across hundreds of objects to make fine-tunes adjustments to the appearance?

4. Masking/clipping a sprayed Symbol Set drops performance

   Was working with spraying symbols to create a pattern, and then masking it. Symbol spraying etc, work great, until you mask them (transparency mask or clipping mask) after which any editing of symbols grinds to a halt.

   Even after unmasking, the symbols still cannot be quickly edited.

5. separation preview isnt working with eps files with the new update

   I used to place eps files into a new work space and the separation preview would show the color separation, the new update wont show any colors nor even cmyk like it used to before you places a linked image. how do i fix this issue? when an older version od ai is installed it works fine but the new update has stopped working

7. [BUG] .PNGs displaying as though they have a drop shadow

   .png files are displaying as though a drop shadow has been added to them - files display correctly in Photoshop. Document I've been working in is CMYK.

   We have fixed this issue in 24.0.3 version of Illustrator (MAC only issue). Please update to 24.0.3 if you are encountering this issue. For all the other issues which you are encountering regarding the update or the new document dialog or any other please create another User Voice thread for that issue so that we can track it there itself.

9. Unable to activate fonts

   I am unable to activate new fonts using the find more feature in AI. When I attempt to activate a font, it attempts to activate but does not complete. However, the font is indicated as active on fonts.adobe.com, yet still not available in AI.

10. Error message when exporting PNG, [!now]

    OS: macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 (20D91)
    Illustrator version 25.2.1

    When using "export as" from the file menu, after making all selections and confirming, I get the error message "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [!now]"
    I have to click OK to get rid of this message, however the image appears to export normally (PNG)

11. Warning Message "Partially selected objects..." Repeated

    The warning message repeats:

    "Partially selected objects cannot be set as key objects. In order to set an object as a key object, make sure the entire object is selected and try again."

    The problem no longer happens in latest releases, like 26 and 27.

12. Export for screens scale problem

    Sometime ago, I entered 0.2x in the scale field in the Export for Screens dialog. Now, in all documents, even if I set the scale to 1, I get the 0.2x scale. Even in new documents! I have even tried to delete the scale definition, it always comes back as 0.2x

14. Polygon is broken when opening from SVG

    The details to reproduce:
    1. Windows 10.
    2. Illustrator v. 25.3.1
    3. At least one polygon is broken during the import.
    4. The actual and expected results can be found in the attached AIBrokenPolygon.png file.

15. Illustrator v 25.3.1 on Mac Big Sur 11.4 Drag n drop multiple photos not dropping

    Adobe support support recommended I post here. When dragging multiple images from Photos, it grabs all images, but only drops 1 image. Copy and paste doesn't work either.

16. レイヤー名が入力しづらい

    Mac mini (M1, 2020)
    Bigsur11.4
    Illustrator25.3.1

    日本語の変換周りの問題かと思うのですが、レイヤー名が入力しづらいです。Photoshopでは問題がないので、Illustrator固有の問題か、私の環境がIllustrator上でのみおかしいのかと思います。

    レイヤー名を変更しようとする時、
    １・バックスペースで消去しようとすると文字が確定してしまう
    ２・Tagキーで変換候補を選択しようとすると文字が確定してしまう

    伝わるかどうか不安ですが、動画を添付します。
    ずっと困っているので解決したいです。

    日本語の macOS のシステム環境設定＞キーボード＞入力ソースの「推測候補表示」が有効時に表示される変換候補ポップアップリストは、「Tabキーで予測された単語を選択」できる仕様です。

    しかし、Illustrator の場合、 Tabキーでは変換候補リスト項目の移動はされずに、パネルやダイアログ UI 上の次の項目に移動され、変換されていない文字が確定入力されしまうことを確認いたしました。

    追跡調査を行っております。

17. Non-proper alignments

    This has been an ongoing issue since CS first began. Never had a problem with the old 10 or lower. If you grab a node from an object and move it say, to latch on to nearest node or object, it almost always picks some random and sometimes distant node or object, including itself (shown here). Should it not latch to nearest node? In order to properly latch, you have to pull out a guideline and place it where you want it to go, in order for it to recognize where to latch.

18. Can't escape from Isolation mode

    I have isolated a Transparency Mask (a gradient), but Ai doesn't show a way to get back to the top hierarchy. Escape key also doesn't work.

19. GPU & Clipping Masks

    Since the v25.2 update, AI is having trouble showing backgrounds with clipping paths and displays as all white. When I turn off GPU acceleration, the graphic returns.

    Also, when I PDF the file or open in the previous version, 25.1 or 24.3, everything displays properly.

    Running macOS 10.14.6 on a late 2014 Retina iMac.

    When placing a cursor in a dialog box (ie font size, object transform) the blinking cursor disappears.

    I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.3.0 which is available worldwide now.

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
