1. Finder Apps and Adobe Bridge no longer open Adobe Illustrator

   Something changed with the last update that altered the default association between Illustrator files and the application. I first noticed it when my barcode app failed to launch Illustrator upon export—something that had been working perfectly for years. Then, I encountered the same issue in Adobe Bridge: every time I double-click a .ai file, it simply won’t open.

   After investigating, I discovered that the default file association for .ai files had been changed to something called IllustratorDiagnosys (see screenshot). Manually changing this back to Adobe Illustrator within Bridge resolved the issue inside that app, but external applications and links are still not functioning as expected.

   Additionally, resetting Bridge to its default settings restores all .ai file associations to IllustratorDiagnosys 29.3.1.

   It seems that something in the file association preferences was modified, not just affecting Bridge, but the entire system.

2. Illustrator 29.6.1: Script error on startup

   I get a message of a script error on startup; either InDesign or Photoshop. If I remove the 'offending' script, it moves on to find an error in another file.

3. 2024バージョンで保存したのに、2025バージョンで開くと更新ダイアログで2024より前のバージョンで作成されたデータと表示され、更新箇所を確認できない

   2025で開いたときに更新箇所を確認したいので、2024で別名保存して、2025で開くと、以下の表示が出ます。
   「このファイルには旧バージョンのillustratorで作成されたデキスとが含まれています。テキストレイアウトが更新されることで、文字の配置が変わる場合があります。・ファイルを閉じる場合には「キャンセル」を選択します。・テキストレイアウトを更新してファイルを開く場合には「OK」を選択します」

   何度やり直しても、「更新を確認」のボタンがあるダイアログがでません。

   2024のバージョン：28.7.5(64bit)
   2025のバージョン：29.3.1(64bit)

4. Edit Toolbar menu gets hidden when a toolbar is too close to the bottom edge of the screen

   If you have a custom toolbar and it’s positioned too close to the bottom of your screen, and you press the Edit Toolbar button — the portion of the 'drawer' with all the tool icons is positioned from the top of the toolbar, and it’s bottom half is missing... you can’t move it, scroll it, reach to the icons hidden — you have to close it, move the toolbar, and start editing it again.

   Please position this 'dropdown menu' in a way it’s seen in full, or resized to fit into the screen, no matter where the toolbar is on the screen.

5. File "..." was generated by a newer version of Illustrator. Would you like to import this file? Some data loss may occur.

   After updating Adobe Illustrator, I have encountered a serious issue when working with PDF files that contain multiple artboards. When opening such files, I receive the following error message:

   File "..." was generated by a newer version of Illustrator. Would you like to import this file? Some data loss may occur.

   If I choose to import, only one artboard remains in the opened file, and all other artboards disappear. This happens with all files saved with multiple artboards, resulting in significant data loss.

   Please assist in resolving this issue, as it greatly impacts my work and causes loss of important data.

6. COLRv1 Fonts Rendering bugs

7. 29.4 is hanging/freezing in dialogs

   I have found myself unable to work in 29.4. Program hangs/freezes all the time after entering some kind of dialog (save, settings, color mode, etc). I reset the settings to default, didn't help.

   Reverted back to 29.3.1, no problems

8. Open or place PSD file does not keep any editable layers

   I am trying to open a file that I created in PSD that has three layers plus some adjustment layers. Two of these layers are text. Regardless of if I open or place them Illustrator, the file comes in as a single bitmap layer. Open does ask me if I want to keep the layers and text, but it does not work. Place doesn't ask; it just places the image.

9. 2025 (29.0.1) is giving tons of errors on preview.

   I have a file with some simple multi-gradient appearance stacks that constantly throws two errors every time I load it, and every time I switch outline mode on and off. Also the document is marked as modified the instant I load it.

   Works fine on 2023. Dunno how it works on 2024, I never switched to that one. Constantly complains on 2025.

   This is happening in CPU preview mode, I would check if it's happening in GPU mode as well but I deleted 2025 before thinking about that detail.

   Uservoice isn't letting me upload this file so I've posted it on my own site: http://egypt.urnash.com/media/blogs.dir/1/files/2024/11/IABD-Unknown-Error-Sample.zip - ~7m zip of an Illustrator file.

   The two errors, in order, are:

   "The outline cannot complete because of an unknown error [IABD]"

   followed by

   “An error occurred while processing the appearance of an object”.

   The team says it’s fixed in Prerelease build 29.6.191.

   The fix is now scheduled to be pushed into the upcoming general release.

10. Advanced Options Missing in Recolor Artwork Panel with UI Scaling

    Bug Description:
    When the UI is scaled up , the advanced options in the "Recolor Artwork" panel become inaccessible. This happens because the panel becomes too large, causing the advanced options at the bottom to be cut off. Additionally, the absence of a scroll bar prevents users from navigating to the hidden section.

    Steps to Reproduce:

    Open Adobe software (e.g., Illustrator).

    Access the "Recolor Artwork" feature.

    Use the software on a high UI scaling factor.

    Notice that the advanced options at the bottom of the panel are not displayed and cannot be accessed due to the missing scroll bar.

    Expected Result:
    The panel should either automatically adjust its size to fit the screen or provide a scroll bar, allowing users to access all options.

11. 線を細く設定した際の表示バグ

    線の太さを0.001pxなどに設定した場合、設定は出来ているのに実際の線の表示位置と、選択できる線実体の位置にズレが生じます。
    表示限界かとは思いますが、表示できないなら設定も出来なくすべきかと思います。

12. Missing fonts are no longer highlighted when file opens

    Quand j'ouvre un fichier et que je n'ai pas la police ouverte, avant j'avais le texte en surbrillance ce qui permettait de voir où la police était manquante.
    Maintenat j'ai bien la fen^tre qui s'ouvre me disant que la police est manquante, mais je ne vois pas où ?

    When I open a file and I don't have the font open, I used to have the text highlighted, which allowed me to see where the font was missing.
    Now I have the window that opens telling me that the font is missing, but I can't see where it is.

13. Appearance items loose focus when get an effect assigned

    When I pick a fill in Appearance panel and assign an effect to it, the item looses focus suddenly — take a look at the GIF attached.

    If my stack there is complex enough (and they often are), it’s hard to locate the fill/stroke I was working with.

    We have fixed this issue in 29.0 (MAX) and 28.7.2 releases.

15. Eyedropper cursor blinks while held

    If you pick Eyedropper tool and hold it to sample a color continuously — it blinks, jumps, tries to change into a default pointer arrow.

    Happens on both Windows and Mac.
    And so you know it can work better and some other succeed — compare it with the way Affinity Designer does it (the second GIF).

    Il file generato o salvato con l'aggiornamento finale di Illustrator su ID appare col fondo. Inserisco il vecchio file e il nuovo file ultima versione nello screenshot è visibile la differenza. è un problema di Illustrator evidentemente.

17. Non-global swatches in cloud libraries don't retain names when added in new documents

    I have a large cloud library with like 800 swatches for customers that I need to use in multiple different documents. Most of the swatches were uploaded with the global tag so when I use them later on, they still have their name when I add it to the documents. However, some of my swatches are missing the global tag so when I add them later on, they just automatically convert the selected object to CMYK and doesn't add it to my swatch panel.

    If it matters, my workflow is selecting the objects that need the new swatches, then clicking on the swatch in the libraries panel. I don't do the thing where you right click>add color to swatches. And there is no way for me to tell from the libraries panel if a color is global or not, so I can't just go through the panel and change the affected swatches.

18. What’s New screen pops up every time I close all documents

    Illustrator wastes my time by making it necessary to close the annoying splash screen whenever I close a document. Really annoying. Please get rid of it or make it optional.

19. Upside down text stroke disappears when exporting

    When I go to export files in illustrator any upside down font with a stroke that has not been outlined shows up in the jpeg without the stroke.

20. Preview Only Text rendered as moved compared to the original

    The new Preview Only Text feature is bugged. Attached is a screen shot of a comparison of the original document and Illustrators Preview Only text. The copy actually moves quite a bit from it's original position. The text is area type and within a box if that is a clue. This should be a huge concern for anyone trusting the preview only text.
