1. Swatches disappear in Swatches panel when switching between documents

   I've got two documents open. An RGB one, and a CMYK one. When I CMD+TAB between the two, all the current swatches disappear. I have to click on a different 'view swatches' button to make them appear. This happens EVERY TIME. I just updated to the latest version of Illustrator thinking it would fix it, but it doesn't.

2. PDF/X-4で書き出す際にダウンサンプルされる

   再現手順
   1.800ppiのモノクロ2開帳の画像をドキュメントに原寸で配置する。
   2.ファイル→コピーを保存を実行、PDF形式を選択し次のダイアログでプリセット「PDF/X-4:2008（日本）」を選択して保存する。
   3.PDFを開いて配置した画像を調べると300ppiにダウンサンプルされている。

   期待する結果
   800ppiのままダウンサンプルされずに保存される。

   実際の結果
   配置したビットマップ画像は300ppiにダウンサンプルされる。

   このプリセットでは実行解像度が1800ppiを超えた際に1200ppiにダウンサンプルされるように設定されている。配置状態で800ppiの画像はダウンサンプルの条件に当てはまらない為ダウンサンプルされてはいけない。
   また、300ppiという数値はモノクロビットマップ画像を取り扱うには致命的に低い解像度と言える。

   回避方法
   ビルトインのPDF/X-4プリセットは利用せず、同等のプリセットを自身で作成して利用する。その他、プリプレス関連メーカーが配布するPDF/X-4プリセットを利用しても良い。

   2. Select File→Save a copy, choose PDF format, and in the next dialog, select the preset "PDF/X-4:2008 (日本)" and save the file.
   3. Open the PDF file in Acrobat and check the placed image to find that it has been downsampled to 300ppi.

   Expected result
   The image is saved without being downsampled to 800ppi.

   Actual result
   The placed bitmap image is downsampled to 300ppi.

   The preset is set to downsample to 1200ppi when the resolution exceeds 1800ppi. Images with a resolution of 800ppi in the placed state should not be downsampled because they do not meet the conditions for downsampling.
   In addition, 300ppi is a fatally low resolution for handling monochrome bitmap images.

   Workaround
   Do not use the built-in PDF/X-4 preset, but create an equivalent preset yourself. You can also use PDF/X-4 presets distributed by prepress-related manufacturers.

4. Visual glitch in modified text when using the “Transform” tool

   When using the “Transform” effect on complex files, the visual display of the actual text does not update. The visual display is not up to date, whereas in the source code (CMD+Y) it is. To update the text visually, you must uncheck the “Transformation” option in the Appearance window, then check it again to force the visual update.

   As shown in the attached files, the black-and-white one shows the wired version (with the correct text), and the other shows the standard view (with the text that hasn't been updated)

5. Breaks in gradients/gradients not rendering/pixels missing

   I'm having issues with exporting artwork from Illustrator, which features a stroke (100pt, round cap) with a gradient (2x colours in gradient, applied along the stroke).

   My operating system:
   MacOS Tahoe 26.2

   The version of Adobe Illustrator (desktop):
   • V30.1and a version 2x updates before
   • A member of the Adobe support group tested my supplied file against other versions of Illustrator and found it is reproducible in at least Illustrator 2023.

   The steps you were taking when you experienced the issues:
   1. Selected File > Export > Export as
   2. Selected ‘PNG’ from format dropdown
   3. Selected ‘Use Artboards’, ‘All’
   4. Clicked ‘Export’
   5. From PNG options export window selected:
   - Resolution: High (300ppi)
   - Anti-aliasing: Type Optimised (hinted)
   - Interlaced: Left unchecked
   - Background colour: Transparent
   6. Clicked ‘Ok’

   Your expected result and the actual result:
   My expected result: A solid gradient along my path in my preferred exported format.
   Actual result: A path with weird white breaks, almost like some pixels are missing or are not rendering correctly.

   Other info for reference:
   I've tried:
   • Exporting a png directly from illustrator, it appears
   • Expanding the stroke and exporting, it appears
   • I've started a new doc and pasted it in there and exported, still appears
   • I've increased the resolution of gradients in my doc setup setting, still appears when exporting.
   • I’ve exported the png with CPU preview switched on, still appears
   • I’ve exported the png with CPU preview switched on and ticked Optimise Art in the PNG settings, still appears.
   • Added extra points to the path, still appears. Note from community member that suggested this and tried themselves on my supplied file: “I didn't see any of the strange glitches along the stroke in GPU Preview regardless of zoom level. But they did show up when switching to CPU Preview. I found that I could make a lot of the tiny white glitches disappear by adding more anchor points to the path. The white glitches also tend to change position or appear/disappear depending on the zoom level. Adding points isn't a 100% good approach though. Even when adding a lot of points to the path a couple white speckles might still appear depending on the zoom level.”

   When it does NOT appear:
   • Placing the AI file into indesign, exporting it as a png
   • Exporting as a jpg from Illustrator
   • When you expand the stroke with a solid colour, then manually set the gradient with the free form gradient setting and adding in your points to create the gradual fade from one colour to another. > my current solution to the problem

   I've checked the artwork and there's no extra points, weird shapes sitting on top of the path. I've given the artwork file to another colleague and posted it in the adobe support group and no one can figure out what the issue is.

6. Scroll wheel is very slow and unresponsive in Adobe Illustrator 30.0

   Since updating to 30.0 today, the UI seems very slow, particularly when using the scroll wheel to navigate the canvas.

7. Live Paint + Eyedropper recolors entire Live Paint group (macOS)

   Product/Version: Adobe Illustrator 2026 — v30.1
   OS: macOS 26.2 (Build 25C56)

   Issue:
   When a Live Paint group is selected, using Live Paint Bucket (K) and Option/-click to temporarily switch to the Eyedropper samples a color but also recolors all faces inside the Live Paint group to that sampled color. This prevents using the Eyedropper to “pick a color to paint with” without changing existing fills.

   Expected result as in previous versions: Option-click while using Live Paint should only sample/set the active paint color, without changing existing faces in the Live Paint group.

   Actual result: All faces in the selected Live Paint group change to the sampled color.

   Steps to Reproduce:
   - Create artwork with multiple enclosed faces and group them
   - Select the group with Selection Tool (V)
   - Switch to Live Paint Bucket (K) and click a face to create a Live Paint group.
   - Hold Option/Alt (temporary Eyedropper) and click a color on another object.

   Observe: the entire Live Paint group’s faces recolor to the sampled color.

   Frequency: 100% (whenever the Live Paint group is selected)

   Workaround: Deselect all (Cmd+Shift+A) before sampling, then continue painting, or option+shift with eyedropper.

   Product/Version: Adobe Illustrator 2026 — v30.1
   OS: macOS 26.2 (Build 25C56)

   This issue is resolved in Beta build 30.3.0.73

8. Hitting Down with an artboard selected in Artboards panel now moves it on canvas instead of in the list

   In the newest update, if I have an artboard highlighted in the panel and I hit the down arrow, it used to go down the artboard list. But now it nudges the actual artboard.
   I acknowledge that nudging artboards could maybe be useful for something (though I can't think of what) but being able to navigate the list with arrows is much more valuable in my opinion.

   To navigate artboards in the the panel, without zooming into them, hold Opt/Alt with arrows keys (up/down work the same way as left/right).

9. Changing the Japanese font in the Type tool does not update it.

   Changing the Japanese font in the Type tool does not update it.
   This occurs even when "Enable missing glyph protection" is initially set to OFF and no other settings are changed.

   This does not occur in macOS Vetura13.7.8

10. Illustrator changes text after modifying a text box with White Arrow tool

    Illustrator changes text after modifying a text box with White Arrow tool. Its been happening for a few weeks. I work in a professional big corporate company and its changing my layouts after I am doing changes and it is really problematic.

    This needs fixing right away. In packaging if some text is changed after I make layout changes it can have serious legal ramifications.

11. Font styles applied to portions of text 'slide' / shift positions when area type overflows

    Illustrator 29.7.1 on Mac Ventura 13.5.2 (22G91)

    I dont' know whether it's related to this current issue, but now I have parts of my text that change appearance when I'm trying to change the Font weight of another part, or when I try to type more text.

    The workaround I have found it copy-pasting the text into a new Textbox. But still, this needs to be fixed.

12. Unknown Error when saving

    Windows - Adobe Illustrator 2026

    When saving files for a proof - Press Quality, no editing, password, low resolution printing, no changes, no enabling copying of text - this error comes up on the first attempt every time.

    If I save it a second time, this error doesn't happen. I wasn't receiving this issue until I updated to 30.2.1, but it was rare. Now that I've updated to 30.3 it became every time I saved a new file for the first time. As much as I want the turntable feature, I'm going to have to use 30.1 again until the issue is resolved. Having this error come up so often is slowing down production.

13. Bug - Graduated stroke colors automatically changed!

    A graduated stroke color was in a saved file applied to a brush stroke. I had not been in the file for several months. The preview appeared full color, but when I opened the file, it was like the opacity of the colors had been turned down, except they hadn't been! Inside the file, it appears faint. But the stroke does not indicate the opacity has been reduced. It is so confusing since the file has not been opened for over two months.

    Don't know if it is a gradient or brush stroke issue or a compatibility issue.
    Running Illustrator 30.3

14. Blending modes inside groups does not work

    When an object is part of a group nothing from the transparency settings is working. Selected object in the screenshot is set to Multiply and it appears as Normal.

15. Objects with Perceptual Gradients applied (and no Dither) gets rasterized fully on PDF export, instead of becoming clipped rasters

    It still rasterizes the whole object, rather than converting it to a clipped bitmap (unless you also enable Dither though).

16. Font drop down list won't allow font selection.

    Sequoia 15.6.1
    Adobe Illustrator 2026 version 30

    My font drop-down list allows me to preview fonts, but not select them. If I preview and click a new font to select it, the type window closes and my select text reverts to the original font. I've tried using the text tool and the selection tool - same problem. To change a font, I must type the ENTIRE NAME in the font window and hit return. Very time consuming. :(

17. Exporting To SVG Format

    Illustrator 30.2.1 has a consistent SVG exporting bug. I created some images containing gradients. When I export to SVG the first time, AI will create a correct SVG file. However, subsequent exports, AI will leave out all gradients. If I close the file and reopen it, the cycle repeats.

18. Ai won’t change the fill of an object when using Shape Builder exactly according to rules

    A minor quirk of the Shape Builder.

    As per the post, when Shape Builder tool is selected, the color chosen in the Color panel, Swatches, or Color Picker, won’t recolor the selected objects (that is a big difference with Live Paint tools, that would recolor the selection, unless a 'Live Paint Select' selection is made), but use the set color to force on a result of the next Shape Builder Union operation.

    This happens only when 'Pick Color From' option is set to 'Swatches' in the tool’s options (called by Enter)... and it happens to be the default behavior I get when I reset the Preferences! Plus, the 'Cursor Swatch Preview' option seems to be disabled, and it makes the use of keys in the Live Paint style unclear...

    So we can sort this out... It’s just odd the default option the default article suggest isn’t a default one used.

    However, with the 'Swatches' option enabled, if I temporarily hold Cmd/Ctrl while using Shape Builder, to pick a Selection tool, and select an object, the color in Color, Fill/Stroke, Swatches, Control, Appearance, Properties — all places that display the current color — won’t update to the actual current fill used by the object, nor allow to change the color, as if Shape Builder overruling still, despite Cmd/Ctrl is being held.
    I think this should be changed.

19. Windows Explorer freezes when Saving As PDF

    • Fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. Fully up-to date (as of Feb. 27, 2026). DXdiag attached.
    • Illustrator 30.2.1 (64-bit) ** Only Illustrator and Photoshop installed (via Creative Cloud application)

    1. Open AI file
    2. Save as.. PDF
    3. Choose a PDF option, click Save
    4. Click Windows Start Menu icon (or any other icon on the task bar) - Windows task bar (explorer.exe) will be unresponsive
    5. To remedy, Ctrl-Alt-Del and open Task Manager -> Right-click Windows Explorer -> Restart

    I literally have to do this every time I start Illustrator. It then seemingly stay stable for awhile, but then will randomly lock up Windows Explorer again after working for awhile. It seems to most often happen when using the Type tool, and clicking on other parts of the Workspace.

    This is infuriating, and has caused me to entirely reinstall the Operating System to try to find a remedy. Nothing has worked.

20. Swatches don’t display names on hover

    Please restore the display of color names when hovering over a color swatch in the palette.

    Enabling Show Tool Tips in Preferences > General helped to have the names for swatches on hover back
