Can't ‘Place’ in Illustrator 2023

Adobe Illustrator 2023 27.0.1Can't ‘Place’ in Illustrator 2023, the window to select a document is almost completely invisible, so it’s impossible to select any documents to place.
The only way to place anything is by dragging it into illustrator from the file of origin...It doesn’t matter if you use the shortcut cmd+shift+P or go to File > Place, both results in the same issue, which is very annoying and frustrating.

GPU preview crashes after a few minutes
After a few minutes with an open file the screen flashes white and GPU preview support goes away. The GPU preview is greyed out. Interestingly I don't need to restart Illustrator, I just need to shut the file down an re-open it then GPU preview is back. The files affected have embedded images within them. I have an Nvidia 3080ti graphics card with an AMD 5950x running latest versions of illustrator (happens with the beta too though it did seem to last longer before the white flash) all drivers and os up to date.. Nothing to do with outline mode…

Compound paths not saving
When I make an object a compound path and then save as an SVG, when I go to open the file again, all of the compound paths have reverted to paths. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've tried an earlier version, I've done everything I can think of and still my SVG files will not retain compound paths. I'm using an M1 MacBook Pro, AI v27.2
1 voteIn SVG 'compound paths' are required to have at least two sub-paths (https://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/paths.html). If a shape doesn’t have any holes, it gets saved as an ordinary single path, according the specification, since no sub-paths are presented, ands gets read back as a non-compound paths. Shapes with proper holes are kept as compound paths.

Grey rendering/latency issues MAC Ventura
since updating my MAC to Ventura I have been experiencing what seems to be graphics issues on Illustrator.
I am able to move the cursor over these grey areas which begins to erase them, however the next time I move positions more grey areas appear.

Stroke width is scaled along with the element it is applied to
The stroke width is scaled along with the element it is applied to (transform="scale(sx sy)") if the scale values (sx, sy) are different. Stroke width is not scaled if the scale values are the same. Ideally stroke should not be scaled.
Workaround for the browser is to use vector-effect='non-scaling-stroke' attr, but it is still not being supported by AI.1 voteThis need some clarification.
I don’t think I can understand the problem.
Illustrator is capable of scaling strokes with object, it the corresponding option is checked. When it’s enabled, it does not differ between uniform and non-uniform transformations. So, is it a feature request and not a bug report, or am I missing the point of it?

problem with save file to PDF
when trying to save file to PDF it gives an error and also sometimes we don't see the text box with the save or other things at all
we use version 26.5 with windows 11Home version 21H2 build 22000.978 ( X64 , 64bit )

ファイル→書き出しにてJPEGを書き出す際、圧縮方式が選択したものと異なる場合がある

問題が発生したときに実行していた手順
1.アートワークをアートボード上に作成する。
2.ファイル→書き出し→書き出し形式を選択しJPGを選択する。
3.ダイアログ上で圧縮方式を「ベースライン（最適化）」を指定しJPEGファイルを書き出す。
4.書き出されたJPEGファイルは圧縮方式がプログレッシブになっている。想定していた結果
指定したベースライン（最適化）でJPEGファイルが作成される。実際の結果
圧縮方式がプログレッシブにて書き出される。この症状はWindows版のみで起こるようです。また、書き出し状態が異なるケースも見られるようなので他のパラメータによる影響を受けている可能性も残ります。
わたしが検証したファイル３種類を添付します。それぞれがファイル名に付けた圧縮形式で書き出しを行っていますが、バイナリデータを見てもベースライン最適化とプログレッシブのマーカーが入れ替わっている状態です。

Object being selected without mouse even being over said object
I really don't know how to best describe this issue, but an object placed in my file is being selected when I click within a radius around the object, but not actually on it. It's a very strange issue and makes it difficult for me to select things around the object.

Illustrator 26.3.1 loses Libraries after computer wakes from sleep
Using Illustrator 26.3.1 , if you have your illustrator open and set your computer to sleep, the next time you wake it up and try resuming your work, libraries will be blank and say "Install Creative Cloud Library". If you restart Illustrator, it works fine until the next time you sleep your computer. Version 26.2.1 does not have this problem.

Save As and Export dialogue box not opening / appearing
running v26.5, Macbook Pro M1 14, OS12.0.1
'Save As' and 'Export' dialogue box not opening so unable to save or export anything when running two screens.
'Save As' and 'Export' dialogue box opens but is fully greyed out when only using laptop (see screenshot).
Problems started a few days ago and cannot be sure if it was tied into an OS update.
I do not run any plugins.
I have:
• Reset preferences
• Uninstalled and reinstalled

Symbol items not converted to outlines
Currently, symbols containing text and placed on an artboard, are not converted to outlines when executing this step.

Dialogue Boxes not opening
I am running Illustrator 26.5 on macOS Montery 12.6 and no dialogue boxes are opening. I have to restart Illustrator in order to save, export, etc. Once I force quit, if a file has been recovered, when I got to save that file, Illustrator crashes, and I am unable to save (as the cycle just continues).

Performance is extremely slow when using show grids in outline preview
macOS Big Sur 11.4, Illustrator 25.3.1
When switching to outline mode when using show grids, it is almost impossible to keep on working as everything is in slow motion, as if the graphic card is unable to cope. This occurs with a 500 kb file that was trouble free before the last updates.
43 votesIt turns out the problem is fixed only partially in 26.3.1, only for some users, and the performance remains slow when grid is rendered with lines or dots in Outline mode. This applies to zooming, panning and ghosting of objects being moved.
Please help the team by providing your specs and answers to these questions:
1. Does it work fine with grid as dots in Preivew / Outline mode?
2. Does it differ from grid as lines in these modes?
3. What is slow for you exactly? How severe?
4. Is there a difference if you disable 'Grids In Back' option?
5. What are you lines/subdivisions settings?
And any other related feedback is appreciated. Let's track it down and get this really fixed.

Preference dialogue box
Hi, When I try to open the Preference dialogue box I get something strange - see attachment, please. Both through the shortcut cmd K and from the Illustrator/Preferences menu

26.5 Can not change text box's language in the Character Panel
When I highlight text or select a textbox I can not change the language in the dropdown menu located in the character panel. When I am editing, all my textboxes and either English: USA or Ukrainian and I can not change them. My default is English: USA but for some reason half of my text is labeled Ukrainian and the Auto Spellchecker is saying every English word is misspelled.

v26.5 on Mac OSX is very slow, generally.
v26.x is generally way slower than v25.4.8, but some features, like freeform gradient, are unusably slow. It takes couple of seconds to recalculate even a simple gradient with just 3-4 points. Same goes with applying wariable width stroke profile to multiple objects or a nested group. In 25.4.8 those tasks are instantaneous, in 26.5 they can even cause "spinning beach ball of doom" and take minutes to resolve.
