1. Search for a file name in the Save As dialog on Mac doesn’t work

   When saving a file, searching for a filename, to add a V2 or FINAL as the end of the file name, does not work.

   I am using illustrator 2025 on Mac OS 15.4.1

   I have made sure that illustrator has full disk permission. See attached screenshots.

2. I have no idea what's going on when I try to save an image as Adobe PDF

   The app does not respond whenever I try to save my work under “Adobe PDF”. This has caused me to lose some of my works. I tried reentering Illustrator multiple times and yet it still happens.

3. White arrow to bind end-points in a design isn't functioning correctly. It doesn't allow to correct the curvature on a trace nor bind traces

   When I want to correct the curvature on a line or bind two ends of a line together, the white arrow function doesn't allow me to do so and moves the trace randomly on my design (just as if I were placing a picture on Microsoft Word: it moves everything at it's will...)

4. Do not scale text when you have a text style applied

   When I have selected multiple blocks of text or lines of text, I would like the option to scale the bounds as if I were selecting only one field, without scaling the font size — especially when a font style is applied. Alternatively, it would be helpful to have an option within the font styles to lock scaling. I often work on menus and need to lock scaling when moving or resizing groups of items. I wouldn’t mind needing to manually update the font style if I choose to scale text after locking document scaling.

5. 「ドキュメントの描画モードを分離」を適用したIllustrator形式ファイルを配置すると中身が表示されない

   1. 新規ドキュメント上に適当に図形を描画、描画モード（乗算など）を設定する。
   2. ドキュメントの描画モードを分離を設定してIllustrator2020形式（PDF五感）で保存する。
   3. 新規ドキュメントを作成し、先のドキュメントを配置する。
   4. 配置されたドキュメントの内容が表示されず、空白のドキュメントを配置した状態と同様にある。

   期待する結果
   配置ドキュメントを正常に描画する。

   実際の結果
   配置された「ドキュメントの描画モードを分離」を行ったIllustrator形式ファイルは内容を正常に表示できない。

   回避方法
   Illustratorドキュメントに配置する場合Illustrator形式ファイルではなく別途PDFを書き出せば配置は可能ですが、データによってはPDFが意図したとおり書き出されない場合があります。
   基本的にはドキュメントに対してのこれらの処理は行わずに個別に調整するのが無難です。

   ここでは「ドキュメントの描画モードを分離」を行ったドキュメントについて報告しましたが、「ドキュメントのグループの抜き」が適用されたIllustrator形式ファイルも同様の問題を抱えています。

6. Radial gradient not properly centered on some objects.

   Radial gradient should be centered on object's center, not on it's bounding box. It is possible to move the gradeint's start point and to scale the endpoint circle, but there is no way to move the center of the endpoint circle.

8. Layers palette filter grabs focus when pressing Ctrl-C

   Pressing Ctrl-C to copy something activates the focus on the filter field in the Layers palette. Using keyboard shortcuts becomes a landmine when this happens because you can inadvertently turn off layers or, in some cases, slow Illustrator way down by pasting SVG data into the field (Ctrl-V often follows pressing Ctrl-C). When the latter happens, Illustrator tries to filter by the text in the field, and it can take quite a while sometimes to regain focus enough to clear out the field. More often than not, however, I have to force quit and restart.

   A potential side effect of this has been the lack of ability to copy color or width values from their respective. When attempting to do so, the ug is randomly triggered. Sometimes the text does still copy, other times it does not.

   OS: MacOS Sequoia 15.3.1 (this has happened for a while across previous OS versions)

   AI version: 29.3.1 (this has happened with previous versions of AI, going back to the introduction of the filter feature)

9. Text tool inserting wrong style

   If I have text typed out, then I try to change one letter it changes my font. For example I have the would "hot" typed in acumin regular, then I go to change the word to "got" and it might make the "g" bold or condensed or just an different style that is on the document. I am not using paragraph styles or character styles.

10. Top Bar Menu Items Stop Responding

    Platform: macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 Illustrator: 28.1
    While operating and working on a drawing portions of the Title Bar Menu no longer respond to clicks (File, Edit, Object, Type, Select, Effect, View Window) however the Illustrator and Help still respond.

    It was necessary to use keyboard shortcuts to save work and was necessary to quit and reload Illustrator and then load the file I was working on and the menu items now respond.

    Has happened numerous times while working on recent drawings.

    It seems like this problem happens only for Mac Sonoma users...

    Downgrading to a previous version of MacOS seems to be a viable workaround at the moment.

    This is not a proposed solution though.

    If this happens for you at earlier versions — please comment.

11. Modal panels for Free Transform tool, Dimension tool, Smooth, and Recolor pseudo-panel get hidden under other floating panels

    Free Transform Tool and Dimension Tool have several modes presented in small floating modal panels and appear only when the tool is picked.

    However, their z-order makes them hide under other floating panels, making it hard to find these pseudo-panels if a user choose to have real panels floating in the spot.

    It’s easy to locate them by hitting Tab, since they doesn’t get hidden like actual panels and toolbars, but you have to know the trick.

    I think their order should be above and not below.

12. Issue when removing asset from Lib CCEnterprise Storage

    Quand la bibliothèque CC est créée comme une "marque" dans le "Stockage d'Entreprise" au lieu du stockage personnel, et que l'on supprime un des éléments de cette bibliothèque, la fenetre de visualistation de la bibliothèque s'efface complètement. et impossible de reéafficher le contenu sans quitter et relancer le programme.

    A priori celà ne se produit pas avec une lib CC en stockage perso.

13. Issue with Reading Variable Data from DataSet in Illustrator 29.5

    Dear Adobe Support Team,

    I am reaching out to report an issue with Adobe Illustrator (version 29.5) regarding the inability to read variable data from a DataSet object in a script, even though the dataset is correctly loaded and updates the document content as expected.

    Problem Description
    I have a script that processes a CSV file to generate PDF files using variable data in Illustrator. The CSV file contains columns "Cislo" (number) and "JMENO" (name), and it is correctly loaded into Illustrator as a dataset (via Window > Utilities > Variables > Load Variable Library). The dataset updates the document content correctly—when I call dataSets[i].display(), the text fields in the document update with the correct values (e.g., "1", "URBAN" for the first dataset). However, when I attempt to read the variable values programmatically from the DataSet object (e.g., via dataSets[i].variables[j].content), the script fails to retrieve any values, resulting in empty strings.

    Steps We Tried
    We have tried multiple approaches to read the variable values, but none of them worked as expected:

    Reading via dataSets[i].variables[j].content:
    We iterated through dataSets[i].variables, checked the variable names (e.g., variable.name === "Cislo"), and attempted to read the content property.
    Result: The content property always returned an empty string, even after calling dataSets[i].display().
    Reading via getByName:
    We tried using dataSets[i].variables.getByName("Cislo").content to directly access the variable's value.
    Result: This threw an error ("Error 21: undefined is not an object") if the variable was not found, and even when wrapped in a try-catch block, it returned an empty string.
    Reading via variable.textFrames[0].contents:
    We attempted to access the text frame linked to the variable using doc.variables[j].textFrames[0].contents after dataSets[i].display().
    Result: This approach also returned empty strings, even though the text frames in the document were visibly updated with the correct values.
    Workaround (Successful but Manual):
    As a workaround, we named the text frames in the document ("CisloText", "JmenoText") and read their values directly using doc.textFrames.getByName("CisloText").contents.
    Result: This worked and correctly retrieved the values (e.g., "1", "URBAN"), confirming that the dataset and variables are functioning as expected for updating the document. However, this is not a practical solution as it requires manual naming of text frames, which is not feasible for larger workflows.
    Observations
    The CSV file is correct and properly formatted:

    The dataset updates the document content correctly when dataSets[i].display() is called (e.g., the text fields show "1", "URBAN" in the UI).
    The generated PDF files contain the correct content based on the dataset, confirming that the dataset and variables are working.
    However, all attempts to programmatically read the variable values from the DataSet object (dataSets[i].variables) result in empty strings or errors.

    It seems there might be a bug in Illustrator 29.5 where the DataSet object's variables property does not correctly expose the content of variables after display() is called. I would appreciate if you could investigate this issue and provide a solution or workaround to programmatically read the variable values from a dataset without relying on manually named text frames.

    I am attaching the following files for your reference:

    The CSV file (data.csv) used to load the dataset.
    A sample file (sample.pdf) with the variables and dataset set up, where the issue can be reproduced. I have saved the file as a PDF because the original .ai file was rejected due to a content type mismatch (application/postscript). The PDF was saved with "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities" enabled, so you should be able to open it in Illustrator and see the variables and dataset. Note that the text frames in this file are already named "CisloText" and "JmenoText" as part of the workaround, so reading via doc.textFrames.getByName("CisloText").contents will work. However, the issue with reading directly from dataSets[i].variables should still be reproducible.
    A test script (testVariableReading.txt) that demonstrates the issue. Please note that I could not attach the script with its original .jsx extension as it is not a supported file type. I have renamed it to testVariableReading.txt. To test the script, please rename it back to testVariableReading.jsx. The script attempts to read variable values both from dataSets[i].variables (which fails) and from named text frames (which works), and displays the results in an alert for comparison.

15. ウィンドウの移動の低速化

    症状は、各ウィンドウの移動が全体的にもっさりしてマウスへの追従が遅れるようになりました。

    イラストレーター　2024年版をiMac 2023にて最近まで問題なく使用できていましたが、
    2025にアップデートしたところ挙動に不安要素があったため、アンインストールしたのちに
    2024をインストールしなおしました。

    その際、各種パネル（書式、属性、リンクなど）をフローティングウィンドウにて移動した際に
    動作が全体的にもっさりするようになりマウスへの追従がワンテンポ遅れるように。

    環境設定のリセット。adobe製品の全種アンインストール。関連ファイル削除。
    からの再インストール。
    またOSの再インストール（macos sonoma）も行いましたが一向に改善されません。

    ただしパソコンをセーフモードで立ち上げ、イラストレーターを起動した際には
    ウィンドウの移動がさくさくと動きます。

    正直セーフモードで起動した際に動くということは何かしらが悪さしているのは明白なのですが…
    まったく理由がわからず…。地味にストレスです。

16. [ExtendScript] Cannot set Document.rulerUnits

    There is no way via scripting to set a document's rulerUnits (pts, mm, inch, etc) because the property Document.rulerUnits is—erroneously, surely—read only.

    If Document.rulerUnits was writable, we would simply do this:

      doc.rulerUnits = RulerUnits.MILLIMETERS;
    

    This is important because there is literally no way to set this via script, except to create a new document.

17. Back with a vengeance: Constrain (holding Shift key) doesn't work with Smart Guides turned on, for Scale, Rotate, Reflect

    This is an older bug that was fixed a while ago but seems to be back with a vengeance.

    It is now happening in Adobe Illustrator 28.4 on Mac OS Sonoma 14.4.1.

    When smart guides are on none of the constrain features (holding down shift) work properly, whether it's rotating, reflecting, etc. It just sort of jumps back to one position, often the original position, and won't move. The little magenta text that lets you know the angle etc. also goes a little crazy and looks like it's trying to display a few different words on top of each other.

    This is an older bug that was fixed a while ago but seems to be back with a vengeance.

    It is now happening in Adobe Illustrator 28.4 on Mac OS Sonoma 14.4.1.

    A current 'workaround' is to disable Transform Tools option in Preferences > Smart Guides. This removes the 'uniform' guide, making the smart guides less useful, but it stops it from jittering.

    .ai、.epsファイルの読み込み
    ①ローカルファイルを右クリック、このアプリケーションで開く＞Illustratorを選択
    ②Illustratorを起動後、ファイル＞開くよりファイル選択
    いずれの手順も実行済み

    ■ 想定していた結果
    .epsファイルまたは.aiファイルが開く

    ■ 実際の結果
    添付ファイル参照ください

    ・Illustratorのバージョンダウン
    ・Illustratorの環境設定のリセット
    ・Illustratorのアンインストール
    ・Mac Book再起動

    ■ その他
    ・アプリケーション起動後、新規ファイル作成は可能
    ・アプリケーション起動＞新規ファイル作成後、.aiファイルの読み込みは可能
    ・新規ファイル作成後、.epsファイルの読み込みを行うと添付2枚目の事象が発生

    以上の事象について解決手順をご存知でしたらご教示ください。

19. Since MacOs Sequoia upgrade, Illustrator randomly recording / monitoring screen despite disabled in Privacy settings.

    Since MacOs Sequoia upgrade, Illustrator randomly recording / monitoring screen despite disabled in Privacy settings. Sequoia bug, AI bug, or Sequoia revealing this was happening all along. Could just be the color picker, could not. Doesnt happen reliably with color picker use. Only happens in Illustrator and only since the Sequoia upgrade. Something isnt working right between the OS and app.
    If screen monitoring is turned off, Illustrator should not be able to monitor.

    Illustrator uses Apple screenshot API to pick colors outside the Illustrator window with Eyedropper tool. Apple has enhanced security in the recent OS updates to let user know which applications are recording the screen, whether you pick a color value of single pixel or recording the entire screen.

    Illustrator is not recording users's screen, it is required for Eyedropper tool to pick color from single pixel.

20. Shortcut for Split Into Grid

    I previously had a custom shortcut assigned to the “Split Into Grid” command, and it was incredibly useful. However, it seems that this shortcut no longer works and the command has been removed from the Illustrator keyboard shortcuts menu, preventing me from reassigning it.

    I truly hope this feature can be reinstated, as it significantly streamlines the workflow and enhances productivity.
