Illustrator prevents Mac display from sleeping due to inactivity
When Illustrator is left open for some time, it prevents my MacBook display from turning off and locking. It also prevents the screensaver from coming on. I am 100% sure this is caused by Illustrator because I have done the following experiment twice:
- Change the screen saver to come on after 1 minute.
- Leave the Mac idle for over 1 minute.
- Screen saver does not start.
- Close Illustrator application.
- Leave the Mac idle again.
- Observe that the screen saver starts and the computer locks after 1 minute.
After restarting Illustrator, the problem goes away for a short time but then…

[ExtendScript] TextFrame cannot be selected after creating
In script, after creating a new TextFrame it cannot be selected the first time.
(function () { if (0 === app.documents.length) return alert('Please open a document and try again.'); var doc = app.activeDocument, results = ['Results:']; // experiment 1 var tf1 = doc.textFrames.add(); tf1.contents = '1. created, selected:'; tf1.selected = true; results.push(tf1.contents + ' ' + (tf1.selected ? 'PASS' : 'FAIL')); // experiment 2 var tf2 = doc.textFrames.add(); tf2.contents = '2. created, selected twice:'; tf2.selected = true; tf2.selected = true; results.push(tf2.contents + ' ' + (tf2.selected ? 'PASS' : 'FAIL')); alert(results.join('\n')); })();Expected results: both tests would pass.

Using scrollbars with a Wacom while editing text results in sticky cursor that will not stop scrolling
Using the handles in the horizontal and vertical scrollbars while text is being edited results in the cursor 'sticking' to the scrollbar and not releasing. Pressing esc, alt-tabbing away all seem to have no effect, after about 30s it stops and if I have minimised everything with Win+M. Unsure if it is purely time-based or not.
This only seems to occur when using a Wacom, the same interaction with a mouse does not suffer from the same sticky cursor.
Steps to repro:
- create a text object, and leave the cursor live inside the object. Doesn't seem to make a…1 vote -
Edit Gradient Issue
As you can tell by the picture, I've clicked on an object that already has a gradient, but it does not give me the option to click 'Edit Gradient' and it does not already show me the gradient line over top of the object so I can manipulate the sliders. However, when I clicked on the object below (which also has a gradient) it did give me the option to click "Edit Gradient"

PDFs make AI crash
I use PDFs for proofs to send to clients. They tend to make AI crash more than any other issue I have.

Artboard orientation changes from vertical to horizontal (portrait to landscape) by itself
After update to 28.3, some artboards are switching orientation by themselves. It's not specific to content or number of artboards, apparently. Sometimes I just open a document with some artboards and hover my cursor over them (not even clicking anything) and the artboard just flips orientation from vertical to horizontal. Most of my work consists on social media posts (1080x1920px or 1080x1350px) witch now Illustrator insists in automatically switching to Landscape for no apparent reason.
By the way, the content is not flipped, just the artboard. And not all of them, usually just one out of the 10 or 20…18 votesThe fix is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.
If it misbehaves still — please comment back.

Keyword search in Illustrator panel is not giving results for all libraries
Working on macOS Sonoma 14.4.1
In Illustrator 28.4.1 (seen the bug in different Illustrator versions e.g., 27.9.2)Experienced behaviour:
When I search in ‘all libraries’ in Illustrator I don’t get results from all libraries (picture 1), instead (I believe) I’m getting the results from recently used libraries (those which are synchronised with my computer). So to be able to search all libraries I need to click one by one, load them and then I’m able to search. (picture 2)
Wanted behaviour:
Search in all libraries to get results from all libraries in the Illustrator window. (picture 3)19 votes -

Rendering Issue with Knock Out Group beyond 200% zoom out
1 background layer, 1 top layer containing 1 text and 1 rectangle grouped together and set as knock out group. A fill is added to the text with opacity 0%, the initial fill is deleted.
Until I zoom in to 200%, the text is not rendered. Starting from 200% zoom, the text is correctly knocked out from the rectangle.
Export works as expected.1 vote -
Holding Shift (or Ctrl) to move RGB sliders together in Color panel doesn’t work when color is white
A Help article on Color panel states we can hold Shift (also works for Ctrl, although unspecified there) to move color channels’ sliders 'in tandem', together, — http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/default-keyboard-shortcuts.html#keys_for_the_color_panel
This indeed works, in both RGB and CMYK modes (not in HSB, since its values won’t benefit from it).
However, if all three RGB sliders are at 255/100% (white), this mode doesn’t work — please see the GIF attached.
It probably makes sense for CMYK, where it’s not clear if 0-0-0-0 should become something like 24-24-24-24, but it totally makes sense for RGB, where we expect to get a gray color.
Thanks…

Severe color shift in GPU Preview when placing images — macOS Sequoia + M4 chip + Illustrator 2025
I'm experiencing a serious color rendering issue in Adobe Illustrator 2025 on my new MacBook Pro (M4 chip) running macOS Sequoia 15.5.
When placing or embedding images (JPG/PNG), the GPU Preview mode displays extreme color shifts, making the artwork look completely different from the source image. However, switching to CPU Preview restores correct colors— but the performance becomes noticeably slower and almost unusable for real-time editing.
As a professional designer, I rely on GPU Preview for efficient, accurate work. This bug breaks trust in color fidelity and slows down production significantly. Please investigate and address this GPU rendering issue on…1 vote
