In a Group (Isolation mode), cannot set a sub-Group as key-object for alignment
Illustrator CC 2018
Windows 10I have a Group, containing other sub-Groups.
I enter Isolation mode by double-clicking on the Group.
Once inside, I select all sub-Groups and want to set one of them as key-object for alignment. I can't.

Illustrator crashes when opening a file using 'double click' that has missing fonts.
Version: Adobe Illustrator 2018 CC v 22.0.1 (64 bit)
Step 1: I open a blank Illustrator for the first time and it opens fine.
Step 2: I double click a PDF from the back of an email attachment/the desktop etc and the file then tries to open in Illustrator.
Step 3: The file opens but at the same time a blank 'missing font' dialogue box appears and Illustrator crashes. (The missing font is 'Helvetica-bold')
Step 4: I have to close Illustrator using the task manager.
This only happens when the FIRST file I open is opened by double clicking it.…

Playing scripts via action with no open documents
Running scripts via an action only appears to work if there is at least one open document.
Steps:
1. Create a simple script (such as app.documents.add)
2. Save to Illustrator scripts folder.
3. Record to action via 'Insert Menu Item'
4. Make sure no documents are open
5. Play action. Illustrator displays the message 'The object <ScriptName> is not currently available.'If you run the script via File > Scripts, it runs normally. some graphics missing when exporting artboard using "export as"
Hello, I am experiencing strange results during artboard export - after export to bitmap file, there is often some part of graphics missing. Latest example is this - the 1pt stroke, visible in editor, is not present on exported image. Simillar result achieved in numerous different cases, ussually some shapes or contours with white color are missing in exported image. I am includign source files, you will have the background photo link missing, but this can be replaced with any colored box with same result. This is dangerous bug, because you have to control your exports carefully, and is easy…
10 votesThe white outlines in the file have Overprint attribute set. White + overprint result in empty objects, please remove overprint attribute from the white objects and try export again.

Illustrator 2018 Crashes
I have Surface Studio, 32 Gig, Windows 10. Today I installed the CC Updates and now Illustrator crashes every 2 or 3 minutes. I uninstalled Illustrator and reinstalled it, but the crashes continue. Finally in desperation I uninstalled Illustrator 2018 and reinstalled Illustrator 2017. At least now Illustrator is stable.
I sure would like to know what to do to fix the problem. You know it wouldn't be a bad idea if one could reach support with install problems.

Properties panel bug
When you edit word in properties panel and you want to change first few letters in word from normal to bold. It will show you change but when you deselect type tools it will change entire word to bold. But if you go trough type panel everything is fine.
And if you change stroke size in properties panel to 0,5 pt it will apply 5 pt, for 0,25 pt 25 pt and for 0,75pt 75pt stroke.

Illustrator splash stays always on top
This really goes for any Adobe program but the programs always pop to the top of all of my windows which drives me crazy. I hate when I'm trying to multi-task only to have the Progress window pop up in the middle of my view. Or worse when the program Window itself jumps to the front. I use this software in a professional setting so I'm always working on something else when my files are loading. Please stop forcing the program and progress bars to the front of all open windows.

Filled shape does not follow the curve exactly
If I fill the new shape with color it doesn´t really work. I get a straight outline instead of a curve. Additionally there is a difference between outline view and colored view.

Zoom - Scroll Wheel
In Illustrator CC the program seems hardwired to not listen to the tablet settings about scroll wheel zoom or even touch pad zoom. There are lots of people online complaining about this and trying to find work arounds.
I suggest just creating a hard wired button like photoshop did to fix this issue.

New fonts don't load upon installation
Somehow, the new Adobe Illustrator updates prevent manually installed fonts from loading. These are fonts that aren't available in Adobe Fonts. So I have to install them manually. Because of this, I have to restart Illustrator so I can use the font. There's no problem when activating fonts on Adobe Fonts. Is there a workaround for this?

macOS Sequoia 15.6.1
Adobe Illustrator v29.7.1
他社で作成されたCentury Gothic Regular が使われているIllustratorドキュメント（作成バージョンは29.7）を開いて修正して保存した。
このデータはInDesignドキュメントにリンク配置されていた。
InDesignドキュメントの表示の、Century Gothicの数字が異なる数字になっていた。
1→3、0→2 のように。
修正した環境にはCentury Gothicがインストールされていない。Font Bookに表示されない。
が、Illustratorはフォントエラーを表示することなく、開いた。
PDFを書き出すと、正常に表示される。
プレビューのPDFのみ化けている。
その後、調べてみると、Illustrator内では「/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FontServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Fonts/ApplicationSupport/CenturyGothic.ttc」が使用されていることがわかった。
また、Illustrator v28.7.9ではプレビューのPDFが正常に表示された。
さらに、「/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FontServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Fonts/ApplicationSupport/CenturyGothic.ttc」を適当なFontsフォルダにインストールすると、Illustrator v29.7.1でもプレビューのPDFが正常に表示された。
コミュニティの記述にv29.2.1までダウンバージョンすると様々なバグが回避できるとあったので、ダウンバージョンしてみたが、やはり化ける。
v29.0までダウンバージョンしてみたが、全て化けた。
再現方法としては、
1. Century Gothicをライブラリ/Fonts フォルダに入れる
2. Illustratorでドキュメントを新規作成
3. 数字を入力
4. 書体をCentury Gothic Regularにする
5. 保存して閉じる
6. Century Gothicをライブラリ/Fonts フォルダから外す
7. 5.のドキュメントを開く
8. 修正して保存（または別名保存）
以上を、各バージョンのIllustratorで実行。
InDesignに貼り付けるまでもなく、Finderのプレビューで確認できる。9 votes修正は最新の30.3一般リリースに反映されています。アップデート後、問題が解消されているか確認し、引き続き問題が発生する場合はご報告ください。
開発チームによると、macOS版Illustratorのフォント処理方法を変更し、一貫性を向上させ、サポートされていないシステムリソースへの依存度を低減したとのことです。その結果、Appleのガイドラインに従い、Illustrator 30.3以降ではシステムフォントが使用できなくなります。
The fix has been pushed into the latest 30.3 general release. Please update, check, and comment back if it still happens.
According to the team, they changed font handling in Illustrator on macOS for better consistency and reduced reliance on unsupported system resources. As a result, system fonts won’t be accessible in Illustrator 30.3 and later, according to the Apple’s guidelines.

All Text Disappeared!
I saved my file as .aic but the next time I opened it all the text layers disappeared! Everytime I open the file it automatically creates a recovered version also, but still no text. I also cannot download the version from cloud that shows the last version I made with all the text still visible.

Objects just vanish when rasterizing inside a clipping mask
Okay, this is seriously annoying. In the latest Illustrator on Windows, if you rasterize inside a clipping mask, poof — your objects are gone.
Steps (super easy to test):
Draw a bunch of objects and group them.
Make a shape and apply a clipping mask.
Double-click to go inside the group.
Select everything and rasterize.
And just like that... everything disappears.If you leave even one object out of the selection, they don’t disappear.
But when you select all → gone.
If I only rasterize one object, or part of them, it works fine. But if I select all? Illustrator…

Select Unused Swatches does not select the second black swatch in Grays color group
— Create a new Print document with default swatches.
— Delete ALL the presets: brushes, symbols, graphic styles...
— Now Open Swatches and run Select All Unused command from its flyout menu.
White and Black are not selected (expected in a way).
But notice that 'C=0 M=0 Y=0 K=100' is also not selected.
So when all the selected swatches get deleted, this black duplicate stays, and the color group stays, and you have to delete it manually — each time.I tried to understand what forces Ai to keep it.

Illustrator version 29.1.0
Windows 10.0.19045To replicate:
- Create group that contains a group
- Select group
- Right click the group
- 'Isolate selected group' menu item missing. In its place is the new 'Ungroup all' item.
When the above actions are performed to a group without a nested group, the 'Isolate selected group' menu item appears as it should.

About the Pencil Tool and Image Tracing in version 2025
The accuracy of the path conversion for the pencil tool and image tracing has decreased in version 2025. Even if I change the settings to fine, it is converted to a coarse path, and I cannot express the details like in previous versions. Please improve it as soon as possible.

[Illustrator 2025, 29.0][Win11 Pro 23H2] No Recent Local Files in the Welcome Screen
Recent local files and their previews are completely gone from the welcome screen in Illustrator 2025, 29.0.
Changing the number of visible recent files, restarting the computer, disabling/enabling GPU acceleration and even doing a clean install of Illustrator didn't help.

A backend fix has been applied. Please restart Illustrator to see if the issue is resolved.
If it persists, follow these steps:
1. Close all Adobe apps, including the Creative Cloud desktop app.
2. Navigate to the following folder location:
Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/CCX Welcome folder
Windows: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CCX Welcome\
3. Locate the folder named CCX Welcome and rename it to CCX Welcome.old.
4. Relaunch the Creative Cloud desktop app, then reopen Illustrator.
Leave a comment if this resolves the issue or not.

Greek text now keep accents with All Caps and is not consistent with UPPERCASE result
This has to do with the new update where all files previously created using Greek language using CAPS now all have accents. Now every time we need to change the language to Greek for accents to disappear. I'm sure this will be an issue for greeks around the world.
