  1. ESC key not exiting text editing and isolation modes in Illustrator 2025 on macOS and PC

    On macOS (latest version), ESC key does not exit text editing mode in Illustrator 2025 as it used to in previous versions.
    Resetting preferences and keyboard shortcuts does not fix it. I created a new action to perform the exit task temporarily.
    Expected behavior: ESC should exit text mode.

  2. I can't comment on the "č" key after the update

    After today's update to version 26.0 I have the same problem with key "č". Others work without a problem.

  3. Illustrator 2020 (24.2.1) crashes when saving eps file

    Illustrator 2020 (24.2.1) crashes with the following steps.

    1. Apply a calligraphic brush to the path
    2. Save the document in [Illustrator CS EPS] or older format and close it
    3. Open the document from step 2 and save it again

    Confirmation environment
    OS: macOS 10.15 (Catalina), macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra)
    Illustrator: v24.2.1

    Stock illustration services often require Illustrator 10 EPS, so we expect corrections.

  4. MAC: System has run out of memory and force quits - Activity Monitor shows > 100GB

    After launching Illustrator it will force quit with an error message "your system has run out of application memory." I have 8GB of memory and no other applications are open or running when I launch Illustrator. I am noticing in the activity monitor that illustrator is using a large amount of memory, extremely higher that usual. This started happening a few days ago and I have no changes to my OS or updates to Illustrator CC

  5. Extended top and bottom of glyphs of variable fonts are not rendered

    Vertically long glyphs with variable font are not rendered at the top and bottom. Please see attached file.
    When the character size is small or when the zoom ratio is small, all rendering is done normally.

  6. Illustrator 29.7.1 changes units to points and resets other values after changing Keyboard Increment value when Search field has text in it

    Another paradox is that version 29.7.1 of Illustrator constantly changes the units from px to points after entering an new value in keyboard increment. Does it happen to anybody else?

  7. We request that function key conversion be re-enabled for Japanese input.

    Due to the latest update release, the conversion shortcuts using function keys during Japanese input have become unavailable. Please restore them so they can be used again.

    Conversion shortcut details:
    F6 → Hiragana
    F7 → Katakana
    F8 → Half-width Roman characters
    F9 → Full-width Roman characters

    In Japan, conversion shortcuts using function keys are commonly used.
    Previously, I could use those keys for Japanese input conversion without having to delete the corresponding Illustrator shortcut settings. However, in the latest version, even deleting the settings doesn't work, which is inconvenient.

  8. Using Color Mixer in Control panel for stroke changes the color of the fill instead

    I encountered this problem as seen in the GIF.
    Selecting a stroke or fill from the control bar menu changes the active appearance. When using sliders, it doesn't. i have tested on different Windows 11 machines and different documents. Replicated the issue every time.

  9. Image Trace API is broken

    Please watch the video attached.
    1. Rename the attached .txt. file to .js (UserVoice does not allow to attach scripts directly)
    2. Select a raster image in Illustrator and try to run the script the way it’s shown in the video, with line 11 and 12 commented, mutually exclusive

    With TRACINGFULLCOLOR on it is expected to have the 'Palette' dropdown switch to Full Tone, but it gets set to Limited.

    On the contrary, TRACINGLIMITEDCOLOR should give Limited for 'Palette', but it gives Automatic.

    These are obviously swapped.

    Also notice how all advanced options become 50%.

  10. Creation and modified date become the same when saved on Illustrator files 2020 (Mac only)

    The creation date on illustrator files changes when the file is modified — I need to see creation date for accurate search and timings

  11. Illustrator 24.1 metric precision broken

    So there was a new release Illustrator 24.1 the other day which I installed. Unfortunately, it looks like the engineers messed up and semi-broke the conversion routines from inches or whatever measurement is used internally to the metric units displayed to me as the user.

    What used to be displayed as nice whole numbers or up to a maximum of three decimals, is now never an even number and always displayed with four decimals. Just to take an example, a dimension clearly intended to be precisely 10 mm is now displayed as say 9.9998 mm or 10.0003 mm.

  12. Full Arabic support not available with multiple languages installed

    macOS 10.13.6, Illustrator 2019

    When any language version of Illustrator installed other than Arabic, the full Arabic support is not available. Digits Type and Diacritic Positions are missing from the Character palette, and RTL/LTR and Kashidas are missing from the Paragraph palette, and corresponding tools are missing from the toolbar.

    Also, Arabic must be be installed from nothing - no previous language can be installed.

    AI does have the Middle Eastern composer options in the Paragraph menu, and correctly ligatures Arabic when one is set, but RTL is needed for correct punctuation and number display.

  13. Gradient Annotator tool bug on Groups

    Gradient Annotator tool is not visible for some objects but it is for others. See screen shot: visible on the rectangle, but when I edit the gradient of the compound shape, the annotator is not visible.

  14. Unable to uncheck Type Pref Indic options & Fill object with placeholder text on preference migration from 22.1

    1. MacOS Sierra ; Illustrator CC 23.0.1
    2. I'm trying to get the punctuation right while typing in Hindi, but I can't select "Indic Options". I went to Preferences>Type>Language Options. I can select "Show East Asian Options" but i can't seem to select "Show Indic Options" which is a bug.
    3. I expected to type correctly in Hindi
    4. I can't type in Hindi with the right punctuation and I'm on a strict deadline! Help

  15. GPU Preview glitches with clipping masks and transparency (since Illustrator 29.6.0), white rectangle appears below

    I've encountered a rendering issue starting in Illustrator 29.6.0, and it's still present in 29.6.1. Here's how to reproduce it:

    1. Create a simple circle.
    2. Create a simple rectangle.
    3. Place the circle inside the rectangle using a clipping mask.
    4. Apply any transparency to the circle (e.g., set opacity < 100%, or add a drop shadow).

    Result:
    The rendering becomes corrupted for any object positioned beneath the clipping mask (try placing a filled shape underneath to see the issue clearly).

    Additional Notes:

    The issue only appears in GPU Preview.
    Switching to CPU Preview restores correct rendering.

  16. Image trace limited palette no longer works in AI 27.1

    Image trace does not use a limited palette when this option is specified in the tracing options.

    Steps:

    1. Place photographic or other image with many colours
    2. Choose any of the limited colour presets (16 in this example) and trace

    Expected result: Trace uses the specified number of colours
    Actual result: Trace acts as if 'Automatic' was selected (or otherwise disregards limited palette)

  18. When changing UI scale, dropdownlist is shown inverted and the bottom item is not shown.

    macOS 10.14.6
    Illustrator 2019, 2020

    Dropdown list is shown inverted when changing UI scale.
    It seems to display correctly when I mouse over it, but the bottom item is not actually displayed.

    These defects can be resolved by making the UI scale the smallest.
    This is a very troublesome problem as a script developer.
    I expect an immediate fix.

  19. Mouse scroll doesn't work in Window, Object, other top menus

    Not only these menus, but every menu, I guess, but Window is the main one where it really happens, when you have a lot of plugins installed.
    AI then draws arrow at the top and the bottom of the menu panel, and the only option to scroll it is by pressing these arrows with mouse.
    So
    1. Please allow mouse wheel to scroll it.
    2. Please allow us to choose between 'one panel, arrows' mode and 'unfolding panels' mode.

  20. Duplicate Graphic Styles

    Multipage document. Many objects with a specific style, rectangle, 20% gray fill, no line. All assigned graphic style, eg, Box Style. I want to move these objects to a new artboard, so it's select, Copy, Paste In Place, Move specific distance (because I've laid out my art boards precisely). Problem is that I then get Box Style 1, or Box Style 2, and so on.

    If I option drag this does not happen. This makes NO SENSE.

    Styles are styles. Why would Illustrator be duplicating styles. Makes NO SENSE. Option drag is NOT an efficient way for my workflow. Maybe…
