1. Selecting a path no longer helps to select its anchor below another anchor above from an unselected path

   iMac running Ventura 13.5.2
   Illustrator 29.4

   Since the latest update (I think), I cannot select anchor points that are below others like I used to.

   Until now, I used to be able to click on the object from which I wanted to select an anchor point (black line in the movie), then click on the desired anchor point with the white arrow and it would select the anchor point from this object.

   Now it selects the anchor point from the other object that is above (red line). Which means now I need to bring the first object to the front before selecting its anchor point, then sending it back to the back when I'm done.

2. When relinking images, one of the images appears as their original sizing and not the size of the image being replaced, just on new update

   When relinking multiple images, one of the image appears as their original sizing and not the size of the image being replaced, This is just after receiving the new update (I do this everyday). This is not always true, sometimes it works fine. but most of the time it doesn't. I'm using Mac.

3. Symbol not following the artwork to move when moving, after update

   I’m writing to report a bug I’ve encountered in Adobe Illustrator since updating to version 29.7.

   When working on CAD artwork that includes symbols, I’ve noticed that when I try to move a symbol, the symbol artwork doesn't follow the intended movement. Instead, it either stays in place or shifts to an unexpected position. This issue did not occur in previous versions and is significantly affecting my workflow.

4. Phantom objects in Finder Preview and when imported into Photoshop

   I'm on MacOS. When previewing an .ai file in Finder, there will often times be phantom objects visible in Finder Preview. These objects are always duplicates of whatever is actually visible on the artboard-- usually it's a phantom object in the position the object was in the last time I saved the file. When I open the .ai file in Illustrator, those objects do not exist. The objects are not hidden; they are not on some other layer. This is particularly problematic because those phantom objects are still there if I open the .ai file in Photoshop. If I add the .ai file as a Smart Object layer in my Photoshop file, the phantom objects are there. If I attempt to edit that Smart Object, Illustrator opens up and shows the phantom objects are not there. Saving and closing DOES NOT FIX IT. Sometimes toggling the visibility of the Illustrator layer the objects are on and then saving fixes it. Sometimes toggling to outline mode fixes it. Sometimes moving the .ai from one folder to another, brings the phantom objects back. Why is this happening? How do I make it stop?

5. Selected Fill Color/Stroke is stuck to one color and won't change.

   Hello! I'm using MacOS, and I'm on Illustrator 2026. When I was trying to change the fill gradient of my font, I ran into a glitch where the colors would not change. It's stuck to the original color I had originally. When trying to change the fill color, it changes on the interface but not when I draw. I've tried exiting out of Illustrator but it's still stuck. Even when adding text, it's stuck on black instead of yellow/any other color and it won't change.

6. "Legacy text" warning when opening a file with Illustrator 2026, created in Illustrator 2026

   2. Illustrator 30.1
   3. Created large posters in Illustrator 30.1 including Japanese type. Was later asked to make A4 size versions of them. Reduced entire contents of individual A1 posters so they would fit on A4 pages, copied, pasted to a new multi-artboard file. Saved and closed. Opened the file next day, again using Illustrator 30.1, and was greeted with "This file contains text created in an older version of Illustrator. Updates in the text layout may have caused changes in some character positions, or line breaks." The preview showed there is actually no text reflow or change in spacing whatsoever. Opened the same file using Illustrator 29.8.3 and no problems or warnings. I'll have to avoid working in Illustrator 2026 (v. 30.1) and revert to Illustrator 2025 (v. 29.8.3) until this is fixed.

7. Severe Lag in Adobe Illustrator When Editing Text and Objects—~15s Input Delay on 2MB File

   While working in Adobe Illustrator, I encountered severe performance issues across the entire application. Even with a lightweight file (~2MB), there was an approximately 15-second delay after any action—such as typing text, pressing Enter, or modifying objects.    I am getting an error on launch of Illustrator, seems to have begun with the latest update.

   The fix is in the Prerelease build 29.6.191 now and is scheduled to be pushed into the upcoming general release.

9. Brush Increase / Decrease Diameter Size vs Stroke Weight

   Basically in Adobe Illustrator, just like other programs including Photoshop, there is the shortcut, Left and Right brackets ([ & ]) for increasing and decreasing brush strokes. However, one thing that is annoying for Adobe Illustrator is that when using the brackets for adjusting the size of the brush, the size of the brush does in fact increase, but the stroke stays the same.
   The screenshot below shows a stroke of 1, but the circle size of the brush is much MUCH larger. The brush stroke size should be constrained to the stroke size. This may not seem like much of a problem, but if I wanted to use the Eyedropper for matching the stroke size and color, it will not show the actual brush size, but the actual stroke (a stroke of 1 in this example). Essentially the original stroke size I used was completely unaccounted since the stroke still reads 1 and I would have to guess the brush size I used.

10. Illustrator v30.0 thinks file isn't saved, right after saving it

    On some (but not all) files, Illustrator v30.0 will immediately add an asterisk to the name of the file in the tab, even though I have not made any changes to the file. If I save the file and then try to close the file, I am prompted to save the file again, despite having just saved it.

    I just tested the exact same file in v30.0, v29.8.2 and v28.7.2, using MacOS 15.5 on a Studio M2 Max:

    -I am saving the file to the desktop
    -I have all settings related to "save in background" under "File Handling" turned OFF

    In v30.0 and 29.8.2 the asterisk appears immediately after saving the file. I don't even need to touch the keyboard or mouse.
    In v28.7.2 it does not, and works normally.

    Any thoughts?

    On some (but not all) files, Illustrator v30.0 will immediately add an asterisk to the name of the file in the tab, even though I have not made any changes to the file. If I save the file and then try to close the file, I am prompted to save the file again, despite having just saved it.

11. Hitting Tab key after changing artboard name in Artboard palette

    If I rename an artboard in the Artboards palette and press tab (e.g. to rename the next artboard), the new name only changes in the Artboards palette.

    The artboard name visible on the canvas, and the one used when exporting files, is still the old name.

    If I press the Return key after making a name change in Artboards palette it works as expected.

    Would like to be able to Tab through the list and make changes.

12. Strokes inside symbols don't show correctly when exported as a png

    Here's a problem that I've noticed a number of times. It seems to happen intermittently and the really annoying thing is that it doesn't show up in Illustrator, only in exported png images.

    Strokes within symbols don't always display correctly when they are exported as a png. It seems to happen when the symbol is rotated or scaled. It doesn't always happen. I can't work out what specifically makes this happen or not happen. It's only a problem on static symbols rather than dynamic symbols. Static symbols are generally better suited to my workflow.

13. Duplicating Artboard will unlock and show locked and hidden elements.

    When using the Artboard Tool and clicking on a + sign next to an artboard while holding the Alt/Option key to duplicate an artboard with its contents, Illustrator will Show and Unlock all hidden and locked objects/layers.
    It does this only the first time, when using Undo and trying again it works correct.

    The fix is pushed into the latest Prerelease build and is scheduled to get shipped into the next general build

14. Asset export does not include appearance outside bounding box area of text objects (preview bounds are ignored)

    In Illustrator 2025 (using version 29.3.1), when exporting assets, appearance elements outside the bounding box area are cut off.
    In 2024 (28.7.5) and 2023 (27.9.6), all elements are exported without cutting.

    Reproduction Procedure
    1. create a text object
    2. add a bold stroke color to the text
    3. add as an asset export item
    4. export the asset

    Expected result
    Designs with stroke color should be exported as in previous versions without problems.

    Appendix.
    If a fill is added instead of a line and “path offset” is applied instead, this problem can be avoided because the bounding box is extended.

16. DXF export produces silently incorrect geometry for fabrication workflows

    I initially submitted this as a feature request.
    After further discussion and testing, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is better classified as a bug: the export completes successfully, but silently produces geometrically incorrect data for precision workflows.

    Illustrator offers DXF export as a supported output format. However, when exporting geometry that is visually exact (e.g. circles, constant-radius constructions, rounded slots), the resulting DXF contains only Bézier-approximated splines or segmented polylines, without warning.

    This results in silent degradation of geometric accuracy:
    • Visually exact geometry in Illustrator
    • Numerically incorrect geometry in DXF
    • Errors only become apparent downstream during CNC fabrication
    From a user perspective, this means the DXF export cannot be relied upon for manufacturing, despite being offered as an export option.

    This creates a fundamental problem:
    • Either DXF export should preserve exact geometry where it exists (LINE / ARC / CIRCLE),
    • Or the export should clearly warn that geometry is being approximated and is not manufacturing-safe.

    At the moment, neither happens. The export succeeds, but produces data that is unsuitable for precision workflows without the user being aware of it.

    This is not a request to turn Illustrator into a CAD application, but a request for correctness, transparency, or removal of an export option that currently implies reliability it does not deliver.

    Illustrator offers DXF export as a supported output format. However, when exporting geometry that is visually exact (e.g. circles, constant-radius constructions, rounded slots), the resulting DXF contains only Bézier-approximated splines or segmented polylines, without warning.

    This results in silent degradation of geometric accuracy:
    • Visually exact geometry in Illustrator
    • Numerically incorrect geometry in DXF
    • Errors only become apparent downstream… more

17. Vorschaubilder verschwinden im Bridge

    Hallo, ich habe folgendes Problem mit Illustrator (30.2.1) und Bridge (16.02.23) auf einem Windows Rechner mit 64GB Ram, Windows 11 Pro und eine RTX 3060 Ti.

    Wenn ich momentan im Illustrator eine Datei speichere zweig mir Bridge diese Datei nicht mehr korrekt an.

    Beispiel:
    - Normal war die Anzeige in Bridge wie Bild01.jpg
    - die geöffnete Datei im Illustrator wo alles stimmt ist wie Bild02.jpg, alle Verknüpfungen sind intakt
    - ändere ich in der Datei nur das Darum und speichere, ist nun die Anzeige im Bridge wie im Bild03.jpg daher zusammen wie Bild04.jpg

    Öffne ich die Datei im Illustrator ist alles ohne Fehler vorhanden.
    Verknüpfe ich das Bild über das Menü neu und speichere es dann wieder, stimmt die Vorschau im Bridge wieder wie bei Bild01.jpg.

    Schließe ich dann die Datei stimmt die Vorschau im Bridge, wenn ich sie dann wieder öffne stimmt alles.
    Nehme ich irgendeine Änderung vor, Bsp. Text anpassen oder Ebene einmal aus und einblenden und speichere dann wieder normal, ist die Vorschau in Bridge wieder wie bei Bild04.jpg, also defekt.

    Ich muss also in so einem Fall bei Änderungen aktuell vor dem Speichern immer alle Verknüpfungen aktualisieren und dann speichern damit ich im Brigde die richtige Vorschau habe. Hier ist es auch egal ob es eine Verknüpfung mit einem JPG oder PSD ist.

18. Scripts cannot read Ignore Color setting from presets

    With the appearance of the Ignore Color checkbox, scripts have another big problem besides ignoreWhite.

    If a user creates a custom preset with Ignore Color enabled and selects a color, and then tries to automate the use of this preset from a script, the scripts cannot load the data about the Ignore Color checkbox from the preset.

    In the mentioned beta version 30.4.0.80, this issue still persists (so it should also be in the GA 30.3)

19. Files not saved properly with incorrect display

    Since we started working with Adobe Illustrator 30, we have encountered various files, both saved as ai and pdf, that display a different and incorrect image in the preview. As a result, our printing software also opens and processes these incorrectly, resulting in incorrect printing.
    When we reopen and resave the file, it is fine.
    For the time being, we have gone back to Adobe Illustrator 29, because we can no longer rely on our print file in this way.

20. Les raccourcis clavier typographiques ne fonctionnent plus dans la 29.7

    Dans le version illustrator 29.7 du 30 juillet 2025, toutes les fonctions de manipulation des typographies par les raccourcis clavier ne fonctionnent plus. Agrandir et diminuer, soit la taille, soit les interlettrages, les interlignages, etc… Exemple : option flèche du bas, du haut, droite gauche - commande majuscule point.
