flickering black rectangle
when I move the cursor a black rectangle appears flickering alongside it. Its very confusing and off-putting. this happens with most but not all tools.
Is this something simple that i don't know about or is this something wrong? I have tried closing Illustrator and re-opening but it is still happening. not noticed it before.1 vote -

duplicated drawings when saving or exporting
On AI CC 2019, when I save file for laser cutting machine compatibility, i.e. as a previous version or PDF format, it appears that my drawing is duplicated on itself (as if I did copy then paste in front). That never happened with AI CC 2018.
Any idea?

Document window opens as narrow strip, will not expand to full width
Every document. Every time.
Multiple documents stack inside this narrow window.
Documents set to open in tabs.
Same regardless if Illustrator is opened first or opens with document.
Documents on external drives and local machine.Illustrator 23.0.4

Application Frame turned off. (with frame turned on things work differently... fine)
Both built in display and 32-inch 4k.Only started this when I upgraded to CC 2019.
Clicking here expands the window too it's original, correct size.

Resize brush with shortcut keys for Twirl, Pucker, Bloat etc tools
When using the set of twirl, pucker, bloat tools etc It would be great if you could change the brush size using the '[' and ']' keys like you can when using the blob brush tool. It's very slow and cumbersome to change the size of the brush in the dialogue box .

Illustrator not selecting color from CC color library
I am using MacOS Mojave 10.14.15 and recently updated illustrator to 23.0.4.

Illustrator CC 2019 (v23.0.3) will not open files and immediately crashes when trying to do so.
I've been trying to work on both .ai and .eps files in Illustrator but it won't open them. It just crashes immediately when trying to do so. Is this a common occurrence with this version? Is there a new update coming soon?
This is an issue that is hindering work severely. I would appreciate anyone's insight on this.

"Clear Overrides" in Paragraph Styles menu is needlessly picky
I can clear overrides only if the selected text is all in a single paragraph style. If I select multiple lines in different styles (which happens all the time in lists of text, calendar items, etc), the thing is always dimmed out.
This makes it needlessly tedious to get all the text back into a known set of styles, so that the styles themselves can be redefined and the text will update accordingly. (Example: taking formatted text to a new and differently-sized layout.)

2019 v23.0.4 running VERY Slow and doesn't function correctly
I am not sure what happened, but in the past week v23 has gone horribly wrong. I am not sure when exactly my computer updated to v23.0.4, but I'm sure that was the start to the problems.
When you first start the application, it seems to work just like it should, but then you give it a minute or load any sort of file, and it slows WAY down.
Even creating simple boxes on an artboard will cause it happen. If you drag and size a box, it may actually do that, or it will decided to ask you the…2 votes -
Paste in Front/Back should override Paste remembers layers option
The layer from which an object is copied is used for the pasted object even when using the Paste in Front/Back command. This is counterintuitive and the command should override the option.

Paste remembers layers bug with isolation mode
If you choose the option Paste Remembers Layers and copy elements when in Isolation Mode and paste these after exiting Isolation Mode, they appear on a new layer named "Isolation Mode". They should appear on their parent layer instead.

I'm getting an error message (There is not enough memory available to process the appearance of an object) when I open a file or create a new file in Illustrator. After I close the document, everything in illustrator gets greyed out and I have to force quit to close illustrator. Align to Artboard Bug 23.0.4
Usually when selecting a single object, the align panel defaults to "Align to Artboard." Since upgrading today, it's not doing that. It stays in Align to Selection mode and then the buttons do nothing. Happened after update to 23.0.4 on Mac OS 10.14.5

Export for screens: in sRGB, embedding colorsync profile, compression for PNG
I see a difference in options between photoshop and illustrator. For Illustrator, it would make sense to export for screens and force a conversion to sRGB –even when your drawing is still in CMYK. I notice that Illustrator doesn't change colormode, while Photoshop does (when exporting, PS converts to the working RGB or sRGB if you make that choice).
Besides that, I think it is very important to add compression to PNG files. And why not embed colorsyncprofiles in PNG files? It's a benefit when profiles are embedded because webbrowsers will show the image as similar.8 votes -
New Document Delay
When creating FILE > New… the 'New Document' pop-up appears immediately, but it's blank and the content/fields don't display for a good 7-8 seconds later.
I expect this to be visible immediately. I know there was a similar issue in Photoshop CC that you could avoid by using a legacy New Doc preferences.

also with emf export it has to be scaled up 1000 times to look good...

Long delay before PDF dialog when large images present
It seems that when there are any large linked images present, Illustrator locks up for several seconds or more before the Save Adobe PDF dialog appears. Often the delay is long enough that I end up switching to another task while I wait.
This never used to happen in previous versions — I believe the problem started with an update in late 2018 or early 2019. Based on the delay before the dialog appears, it seems like Illustrator might be refreshing/re-reading the images in the background, because the delay seems to increase with more/larger images.

Transform Each for groups
Transform Each currently rotates multiple groups around a common center point, counter intuitive to what the name implies. Does what the name says when used on vectors.

Rotation resets to 0
If you rotate groups the properties panel always resets the rotation value back to 0 meaning I have to remember the value I used if I want to put it back or if I want other shapes to match the rotation at a later time.
