Scrubby Zoom - GPU View greyed out
I'm unable to toggle GPU Preview.
This is a new concern since I was able to toggle it on/off a few weeks ago.

Artboards in 2018 can no longer be rapidly deleted
In past versions of Illustrator, I was able to click on an artboard and continuously delete artboards until I had to ones that I want. Now when I select an artboard and delete it, the selection is deselected. I now have to continuously highlight and delete, highlight and delete until I have removed all the artboards I need.
5 votesWorks as it should in the latest versions, deleting a selected artboard (artboards) now selects the one before it (them). Holding Delete key would rapidly Delete these in succession (at least on Windows).

Naming of Pathfinder functions is inconsistent between the Pathfinder Panel and Effect
Naming of Pathfinder functions is inconsistent between the Pathfinder Panel (and the Undo text) and the Pathfinder Effect.
The Tooltip shows “Unite” in the Pathfinder Panel
Unite from the Pathfinder Panel is the same as Add.
Unite is missing from the Pathfinder Effect and is named Add instead.
If you have clicked the Unite button in the Pathfinder Panel, the Undo option displays “Undo Add”.The Tooltip shows “Minus Front” in the Pathfinder Panel
Minus Front from the Pathfinder Panel is the same as Subtract.
Minus Front is missing in the Pathfinder Effect and is named Subtract instead.
If you have clicked the Minus Front button in the Pathfinder Panel, the Undo option displays “Undo Subtract”.The easiest way to solve this is to change the tooltips in the Pathfinder panel for Unite to Add and for Minus Front to Subtract

Changing Overprint or blending mode on part of a text resets when file is reopened
- Create a text box, on a colour background.
- Make some of the text a colour, some black.
The black does not overprint, it reverses ("knocks") out of other text in the same box reverses out (becuase it's colour or white).
If you fix this by making the black text multiply, on reopening the file, it has reverted to reversing out.

Image Trace Preview doesn't work
Image Trace window lets you adjust advanced preferences (color county, angle threshold etc.) When I tick the "preview" box, then image traces according to my selected preferences. But after un-ticking the box it does not return to a normal rasterized image.

Illustrator CC - Lags constantly every attempt to do something in my layers
I have been using Illustrator since macOS Sierra and it was decent in regards to performance not perfect though. Now since MacOS High Sierra Illustrator just destroys my workflow, I waste so much time waiting for the pin wheel to go away just so that when I attempt to move the cursor to interact with a layer is comes right back and i'm waiting again. . . and then at time it will crash (this is good I make backups)
I would find it hard to believe that a relatively new MacBook Pro should have no problems handling an 600mb .ai file, with the artboard being 18 x 22ish.
Did not notice the constant pin wheel of death in Sierra maybe once.
Also it also take forever to load and save. possible twice as before. As for other aspects, I have a fresh install, my caches are cleaned, my internal ram has been refreshed, I have reinstalled the app. I think this might just be a compatibility issue more than anything, just my hunch.

Ai won’t change the fill of an object when using Shape Builder exactly according to rules
A minor quirk of the Shape Builder.
Following this post by Hanako Igarashi (hamko): https://x.com/hamko1114/status/2035911311763399048?s=20As per the post, when Shape Builder tool is selected, the color chosen in the Color panel, Swatches, or Color Picker, won’t recolor the selected objects (that is a big difference with Live Paint tools, that would recolor the selection, unless a 'Live Paint Select' selection is made), but use the set color to force on a result of the next Shape Builder Union operation.
This happens only when 'Pick Color From' option is set to 'Swatches' in the tool’s options (called by Enter)... and it happens to be the default behavior I get when I reset the Preferences! Plus, the 'Cursor Swatch Preview' option seems to be disabled, and it makes the use of keys in the Live Paint style unclear...
We have two helpx articles on this, and the second helps here:
1. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/creating-shapes-shape-builder-tool.html
2. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/building-new-shapes-using-shape.html#setting_the_shape_builder_tool_optionsSo we can sort this out... It’s just odd the default option the default article suggest isn’t a default one used.
However, with the 'Swatches' option enabled, if I temporarily hold Cmd/Ctrl while using Shape Builder, to pick a Selection tool, and select an object, the color in Color, Fill/Stroke, Swatches, Control, Appearance, Properties — all places that display the current color — won’t update to the actual current fill used by the object, nor allow to change the color, as if Shape Builder overruling still, despite Cmd/Ctrl is being held.
I think this should be changed.A minor quirk of the Shape Builder.

Renaming an artboard in Artboards panel scrolls to have the item on top
The way it works in the newest update is infuriating.
In the newest update, when I change the name of an artboard in the Artboards panel, the panel automatically scrolls to have that item at the top. I keep losing my place in the Artboards panel and I can't keep track of what I'm doing. I don't see a benefit of the list jumping around all the time. It's horrific to work with.4 votesThe fix has been pushed into the latest 30.3 general release. Please update, check, and comment back if it still happens.

Breaks in gradients/gradients not rendering/pixels missing
I'm having issues with exporting artwork from Illustrator, which features a stroke (100pt, round cap) with a gradient (2x colours in gradient, applied along the stroke).
My operating system:
MacOS Tahoe 26.2The version of Adobe Illustrator (desktop):
• V30.1and a version 2x updates before
• A member of the Adobe support group tested my supplied file against other versions of Illustrator and found it is reproducible in at least Illustrator 2023.The steps you were taking when you experienced the issues:
1. Selected File > Export > Export as
2. Selected ‘PNG’ from format dropdown
3. Selected ‘Use Artboards’, ‘All’
4. Clicked ‘Export’
5. From PNG options export window selected:
- Resolution: High (300ppi)
- Anti-aliasing: Type Optimised (hinted)
- Interlaced: Left unchecked
- Background colour: Transparent
6. Clicked ‘Ok’Your expected result and the actual result:
My expected result: A solid gradient along my path in my preferred exported format.
Actual result: A path with weird white breaks, almost like some pixels are missing or are not rendering correctly.Other info for reference:
I've tried:
• Exporting a png directly from illustrator, it appears
• Expanding the stroke and exporting, it appears
• I've started a new doc and pasted it in there and exported, still appears
• I've increased the resolution of gradients in my doc setup setting, still appears when exporting.
• I’ve exported the png with CPU preview switched on, still appears
• I’ve exported the png with CPU preview switched on and ticked Optimise Art in the PNG settings, still appears.
• Added extra points to the path, still appears. Note from community member that suggested this and tried themselves on my supplied file: “I didn't see any of the strange glitches along the stroke in GPU Preview regardless of zoom level. But they did show up when switching to CPU Preview. I found that I could make a lot of the tiny white glitches disappear by adding more anchor points to the path. The white glitches also tend to change position or appear/disappear depending on the zoom level. Adding points isn't a 100% good approach though. Even when adding a lot of points to the path a couple white speckles might still appear depending on the zoom level.”When it does NOT appear:
• Placing the AI file into indesign, exporting it as a png
• Exporting as a jpg from Illustrator
• When you expand the stroke with a solid colour, then manually set the gradient with the free form gradient setting and adding in your points to create the gradual fade from one colour to another. > my current solution to the problemI've checked the artwork and there's no extra points, weird shapes sitting on top of the path. I've given the artwork file to another colleague and posted it in the adobe support group and no one can figure out what the issue is.

Live Paint + Eyedropper recolors entire Live Paint group (macOS)
Product/Version: Adobe Illustrator 2026 — v30.1
OS: macOS 26.2 (Build 25C56)Issue:
When a Live Paint group is selected, using Live Paint Bucket (K) and Option/-click to temporarily switch to the Eyedropper samples a color but also recolors all faces inside the Live Paint group to that sampled color. This prevents using the Eyedropper to “pick a color to paint with” without changing existing fills.Expected result as in previous versions: Option-click while using Live Paint should only sample/set the active paint color, without changing existing faces in the Live Paint group.
Actual result: All faces in the selected Live Paint group change to the sampled color.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create artwork with multiple enclosed faces and group them
- Select the group with Selection Tool (V)
- Switch to Live Paint Bucket (K) and click a face to create a Live Paint group.
- Hold Option/Alt (temporary Eyedropper) and click a color on another object.Observe: the entire Live Paint group’s faces recolor to the sampled color.
Frequency: 100% (whenever the Live Paint group is selected)
Workaround: Deselect all (Cmd+Shift+A) before sampling, then continue painting, or option+shift with eyedropper.
