Laggy Performance with Rulers turned on
Enabling rulers degrades AI performance, especially with regards to Smart Guides and object mouseover highlighting.
The effect is the same whether GPU preview or CPU preview is used.
Attached is a sample file with a few hundred rectangles.
With Rulers off, mousing over the objects results in immediate highlighting of every object, and immediate Smart Guide anchor/path annotations.
With Rulers on, mousing over results in missing highlights - AI can't keep up and only displays highlights and annotations intermittently.

Properties panel does not scale in width
In Illustrator CC 2018 (Windows), the Properties panel does not scale in width, so it can not be grouped with other panels (when switching, all panels become equal to the Properties panel in width).
In the transformation section of the object in the Properties panel, you can not change the size proportionally using the Ctrl + Enter shortcut. In the Transformation panel, you can do this.

Hide text highlighting on "Hide Edges" (CMD+H)
This was never fixed in CC 2015 - 2017 and the same **** bug is in CC2018.
In ALL previous versions of AI prior to CC2015 (or at least as far back as CS5 when I got Illy), if you selected text with the Text Tool which made the text highlighted, if you then performed the Hide Edges command, the highlight would NOT show... that way you could change the color, Tracking, font size etc of ONLY the SELECTED characters without affecting the others.
The "big deal" here is when you are trying to see the color change take effect for only highlighted characters. As it is now, you have to highlight, change color, "escape" (or whatever you call it) the editing mode and view the change, because when the text is highlighted, the text and background around the text (the highlighted area) are NOT the "real" color and you can't see what the new color looks like on the design without exiting the editing mode.
Thankfully, at least there is a workaround, which is to disable GPU Performance, but (and I know this sounds crazy), I would like to keep the benefits of GPU acceleration while ALSO being able to change text colors and see the effect...
COME ON GUYS... this has not worked since CC 2014... 3 YEARS AGO!!!

Could not read file because the plug-in did not understand this file
Not sure what is happening. I was able to open files before but now I receive a message
15 votesDocument recovery is now built inside Illustrator to recover incomplete/corrupt documents. Illustrator first tries to fix and open the native Illustrator document, if that fails then the PDF part of the document is recovered if it is available. Illustrator shows message to the user if any of the above attempts fails to recover the document.

macOS14.7.2
Illustrator ver.30.3
EN
When you click a selected item in the Artboards panel to deselect it, that artboard becomes active. Deselecting an item should not make that artboard active.Steps to reproduce
1. Open a new document and add two artboards. In this state, the third artboard becomes active.
2. In the Artboards panel, hold down the Shift key and select the second and first artboards in that order. Now, the first artboard becomes active and In the Artboards panel, all three artboards are selected.
3. Click the second artboard while holding down the Command key.
4. In the Artboards panel, the second artboard is deselected, but the second artboard that was clicked becomes active.
Although the first and third artboards remain selected in the Artboards panel, because the second artboard becomes active, it effectively results in all three artboards being selected. If you paste to front in this state, the content is pasted onto all artboards.Expected Result
Do not make the artboard that was deselected in the Artboards panel active.Actual Result
Even a click to deselect will still make that artboard active.macOS14.7.2

Stroke scaling bug in Illustrator even with “Scale Strokes & Effects” enabled
Hi Adobe team,
I would like to report an issue regarding stroke behavior in Adobe Illustrator.
Even with “Scale Strokes & Effects” enabled in both Preferences and the Transform panel, the stroke weight still changes incorrectly when scaling objects. When scaling down, the stroke becomes thinner than expected, and when scaling up, it becomes thicker than it should.
I noticed that normal strokes behave correctly, including strokes applied in the Appearance panel. However, the issue occurs when I group two or more objects (text/shapes) and then apply a stroke via Appearance on the group. Once the group is scaled, the stroke scales incorrectly.
This behavior did not happen in earlier versions. On Illustrator v29.5, everything works fine — this issue started to appear in v29.6 and above, and continues in v30.0.
Troubleshooting steps I’ve already tried:
- Verified “Scale Strokes & Effects” is enabled
- Reset Illustrator preferences
- Cleared cache and restarted the app
- Tested on multiple files (new and existing)
- Tested both GPU and CPU preview
- System reboot
The issue still persists and affects my workflow, especially when working with icons and UI graphics that require precise stroke consistency.
System details:
- OS: Windows 11
- Illustrator version: 30.0 (v29.5 works correctly; issue starts in v29.6 and above)
If needed, I can provide a screen recording and sample file to help reproduce the bug.
Thank you.
btw. the video attached already enabled ''scale stroke and effect''

Font styles applied to portions of text 'slide' / shift positions when area type overflows
Illustrator 29.7.1 on Mac Ventura 13.5.2 (22G91)
I dont' know whether it's related to this current issue, but now I have parts of my text that change appearance when I'm trying to change the Font weight of another part, or when I try to type more text.
The workaround I have found it copy-pasting the text into a new Textbox. But still, this needs to be fixed.

Brush tip shape appears in top-left corner of the artboard
- MacOS14(Sonoma)+Illustrator2025(29.5)で確認
- Windows
Steps to reproduce:
- Create a new document in Illustrator.
- In the Brushes panel, click a Calligraphic Brush thumbnail.
- A round shape appears in the top-left corner of the artboard.
Workaround:
- Switching to the Brush Tool before clicking the brush prevents this.
- Switching to the Brush Tool after the shape appears will remove it.After switching to the Brush Tool once, it won’t appear again during the session.
Notes:
- Reproduced on macOS 14 (Sonoma) + Illustrator 2025 (v29.5).
- Also confirmed on Windows.
- This bug has existed since at least 2022 but was hard to report due to unclear steps. It's not harmful, but it didn’t happen in older versions and can be distracting.

Broken overprint preview in 28.7.1
Hi, the overprint preview is broken in the newest version of illustrator.
I have describved the issue in ttopic:

Real-Time Drawing and Editing mode does not work for objects with both an effect and opacity mask added
If an object has an opacity mask, Illustrator renders it correctly when the object is moved, the mask moves together with the object.
But if you apply an effect to this object, Illustrator will keep the mask in place while the object is moved, as if it has the mask unlinked.
On the other hand, if you unlink the mask for the object without the effect and try to move it — Illustrator will render it wrong again, as if the mask is linked, until you release the object.
Please see the GIF attached and try the file yourself.

Illustrator often fails to build a smooth blend for paths with mismatched number of anchors
Take a look at the file attached and watch the images attached.
Two curves are blended: one has 4 anchors, another one has 5 anchors.
The blend Ai build has weird irregular slits in the middle. If you expand the blend and select problematic anchors, you’ll see that positions are correct, but some handles get interpolated wrongly.
This happens often in many other scenarios.
The current workaround is to add more points to blend, trying to guess and control which point get paired with another.
Another workaround is to cut curves in pieces and blend in chunks.14 votes -
Pressing Ctrl/Cmd+Enter in Color field no longer adjusts other color values proportionately with live color preview since 27.1.1
Prior to 27.1.1, when live color changes were made, we were able to use Ctrl/Cmd+Enter after changing a value to proportionally move all other sliders, which is an equivalent of dragging a slider with Ctrl/Cmd key held.
The face the preview is now live should not kill this old feature., since Ai surely can remember previous values.14 votesWe have fixed the issue and a build with the fix is available in Beta.

A group with no appearance attributes is treated and marked like it has some
- Create two objects (e.g. rectangles)
- Group them
- Open Appearance panel
- Add a stroke to your group
- Remove the stroke (with the Delete Selected Item button)
- Open Layers panel and study the appearance 'ring' marker of the group — Illustrator now believes the group has a custom appearance, while there is none!
If you click the Contents in the Appearance panel with the group selected, Illustrator will clearly say 'Group: No Appearance' in the top of the panel.
This 'empty' appearance can be saved as Graphic Style even and applied to another object, giving no actual result, except for the 'solid ring' state again.
This behavior leads to a problem with exporting the group as a vector shapes to PSD format.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.3.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Export PSD is aborted with error
When exporting Illustrator documents to PSD via Export As…, documents that would succeed with JPEG or PNG stop with an error.
The error dialog appears twice, and the messages are as follows
1. Unable to export at this resolution. Please lower the resolution and try again.
2. The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [RES!]
The generated image is 4px in total and the resolution is not too high.
Environment:
- Illustrator 2022 (26.5.0)
- macOS 11.6.8
The same error occurred when I tried with Illustrator CS6.
Steps to reproduce:
- open the attached file 16383.ai
- Select [File > Export > Export As… > Photoshop (psd)]
- Specify a resolution to 288ppi
Expected result:
Successful export.
Actual result:
Aborted with an error.
Workaround:
- Move Ruler Origin closer to the artboard.
- Move the artboard closer to Ruler Origin
In 16383.ai, Ruler Origin is at the origin of the canvas (16383 x 16383) and the artboard is at the right edge of the canvas. In PSD export, the following values are expected to cause errors because they exceed the limits.
Coordinates of the right edge of the artboard 16383 * (output resolution 288ppi / original resolution 72ppi) = 65532It would be correct to rely on the width and height of the artboard, rather than the coordinates of where it is placed.
Export PSD
Illustrator書類をExport As…
1. Unable to export at this resolution. Please lower the resolution and try again.
2. The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [RES!]
- [File > Export > Export As… > Photoshop (psd)]

Eye icons are broken in all panels
Unlike Photoshop, Opt/Alt+clicking an eye icon in Layers and Appearance does not hide everything else but the clicked item. The second Opt/Alt+click should revert the operation.
Same should apply for lock icons.
Then, clicking and dragging the cursor down through eyes to show/hide everything below the pointer works only in Layers — but not in the Appearance, where this is as much important as in Layers.

Window and panels moving when Mac goes to sleep
There is an issue with Adobe apps while using Mac M1 with an external monitor. When put in sleep, the windows and palettes move to the bottom half of the screen.
There are comments on this thread that confirm
this is an issue with specifically Adobe apps(illustrator, photoshop and indesign at least):

please, Adobe support, address this issue.

Holding Ctrl does not enable Constrain Proportions for artboards
If I have the Constrain Width and Height Proportions lock button depressed/disabled in the Control panel or for the Artboard tool, committing a change with Ctrl+Enter does not apply the change constrained, as it should do.
Hitting Ctrl+Enter in Properties panel does not do anything at all. Properties is so broken.
