1. Add “...” to the menu items of the modal dialog

   In macOS apps, it is customary to append “...” to menu items that require the user to perform additional actions after selecting the menu item (e.g., modal dialogs). This is found in the Human Interface Guidelines | Apple Developer Documentation.

   

   Illustrator 2025 (29.4) followed this rule, but Illustrator 2025 (29.5) has departed from this rule for a few items.

   • File > Generate Vectors
   • Object > Generate Vectors
   • Object > Gen Shape Fill

   

   The change should be allowed if it is intentional, but seeing that the other items still follow the rules, it is probably just a mistake. It is expected state that it ends with “...”.

2. I can't Knockout in a clip mask

   After asking my friend, I found that this problem seems to only exist on Mac systems.

   [p1] Establish a clipping mask group, check Knockout;

   [p2] Drawing shapes within the clipping mask group reduces transparency, but does not have the knockout effect.

   [p3] But if I remove the clipping group and change it to a regular group, I can achieve knockout effect.

   [p4] But previewing in the navigator panel is normal, and Transparency Flattener is also normal.

   This is what I discovered while knockout in the combining group, which made me very distressed because if combining and knockout at the same time, it would be very convenient to achieve this kind of overlapping effect on a Windows computer, but I'm Mac😭

3. Create Gradient and Create Swatch Info don’t get played in actions

   Swatches panel’s flyout menu now has two new commands, Create Gradient and Create Swatch Info.
   When we try to record these into actions, they get added fine — but once played, nothing happens at all: no gradient gets built, no color legend appears on canvas.
   As always, these new additions don’t get integrated into the application enough... Please don’t abandon them!

   The fix has been pushed into the latest 30.3 general release. Please update, check, and comment back if it still happens.

4. Undo Release Clipping Mask Does Nothing

   I recently noticed that if I unclip an object, by accident or necessity, that I cannot undo the step either through the menu Undo or Command key Undo.

   I can clip and Command-Z to unclip.
   I can manually unclip and Command-Z to reclip.
   If I clip, I Command-z to unclip and then Command + Option + Z to redo my last action and it will properly clip.

   But if I just manually unclip, and then use the Undo command to reclip it like it was? It doesn't work. Nothing happens and it moves on in the history.

   I am on Mac OS X and running Illustrator 29.1.

   This issue has been fixed and released with Illustrator latest release - 29.2

   Please update to latest version from Creative Cloud Desktop.

5. 中韓フォントの文字組みを変更してもアキが変わらない

   フォント「思源黑體 TW」の文字組みを「なし」や「行末約物半角」などに変更しても、アキ量が変化しない現象がありました。
   上記現象が発生したバージョンは下記の通りです。

   OS：Windows 10 Pro
   Illustrator CC：V 29.1、V 29.2、V 29.3.1（V 29.2.1、V 29.3は調べてません）
   なお、V 29.0、V 28.7.3 は当該現象は発生していません。

   問題発生時の手順：

   ・スクリプトを使いCSVデータを読み込んで文字情報を取得、文字をイラストに書き込む
   ・文字入力後、フォント「思源黑體 TW」へ変更
   上記どちらでも問題が発生します。

   想定していた結果：
   添付をご参照ください。
   　V29.0文字組み「なし」.png
   　V29.0文字組み「行末約物半角」.png

   実際の結果：
   添付をご参照ください。
   　V29.1文字組み「行末約物半角」.png
   　V29.1文字組み「なし」.png
   この２つの全角、半角のアキが同じ（変化がない）となっております。
   （どれを選んでも「なし」と同じ状態です）

   他のフォント（下記）で試してみましたが、アキ量の変化は確認できました。

   ・源ノ角ゴシック JP
   ・A-OTF UD新ゴ Pr6N L
   ・メイリオ
   ・游ゴシック

   Illustratorフォーラムにも投稿し他の方にもご検証いただいたところ、日本語以外（繁体字、簡体字、ハングル）のフォントで同様の現象が起きているようです。
   また、InDesign20.1(2025)でも同様の現象が起きているようです。

6. Printer and settings won't stay selected

   Every other update makes the default printer not stay saved and selected. I also use a custom setting to make the PDF shrink to fit and that does not stay selected either. With my job of designing proofs and sending them out, this makes a huge time waster to have to select the printer each time, click done and then click print again to get the printer settings to come up.

7. Copying selection in Layers panel no longer works

   Illustrator 29.5.1 on Mac Mini M4 running Sequoia 15.4.1: Dragging the colored square in the Layers panel from one layer to another with the Option key pressed no longer copies the selection to the new layer. It just moves it to the new layer.

8. Allow to change scale and precision, show/hide units for existing dimensions

   Once dimension is created, we can’t change some parameters of it: scale, precision, units displayed.
   We can open Dimension Tool Options and change these for NEW dimensions, but both Properties and Control don’t allow to modify existing ones.

   The only thing we can do is change these parameters, create a new dimension and then hit 'Apply to all' button in Quick Actions section in Properties (which should be a menu command as well: http://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/49010378) — but what if we don’t need to change ALL the dimensions, but only some?
   Another thing is to delete a dimension and recreated it (but what if I have hundreds of these on canvas already?)

10. 割注指定の文字と通常の文字の間のカーニングおよびトラッキングができない

    「割注で2段に指定した文字」と「通常フォントサイズの文字」の字間をカーニングおよびトラッキングで広げることはできますが、詰めることができません。環境設定でトラッキング「100/1000em」で設定もしています。割注設定している文字の字間は詰めることはできるのですが…。

11. A width profile that is uneditable and rendered wrong

    Take a look at these two path; Illustrator says they have the same width profile, but it’s obviously not correct.
    If saved as Graphic styles — these do match.
    Paths match.
    Directions match (and simple reversing still looks different).
    The left-hand path cannot be edited with the native Width tool.

    I can edit these with Width Selector tool by Astute Graphics, but it makes the width changed in a different spot. Saving the style, clearing the appearance, reapplying the style — heals the bug. Deleting a leftmost segment... this keep the look the same (almost), but the bug gets healed — the native tool now works. It’d be very interesting to know, how it was created — but I don’t know, actually.

12. Object size (width/height) swapped in control bar.

    See attached screenshot. Control bar shows the width and height of the object/rectangle incorrectly. 'Transform' box shows correct info, but control bar swaps the 2 dimensions.

    Shape’s width and height differ from path's width and height, as explained in comments.

    To deal with the second half of the problem, vote for this request to make Offset Path to respect the original position and the direction of a path.

13. Saving Process

    I recently updated my Illustrator, and I've encountered a new error. When I try to save my project, the saving process won't complete, and there are no options to cancel it. Also, it is not shown on the tasks panel. I have to open a new document and save that as a new file. After a few rounds of saving, the problem occurs again, and I have to force stop the app to prevent further issues with recovered documents.

    I would greatly appreciate your help in solving this problem. Thank you.

14. Share for review comments are misaligned - about 5mm off.

    Share for review comments are sometimes misaligned - about 5 mm below the actual comment.

    In the case of text errors usually few lines below the actual error-comment.

    Web interface shows the comments in the right place, but something bad happens when illustrator reads the comments back in. Its persistent in every illustrator version i have.

    The same bug keeps following me in different illustrator versions. I'm not sure what is causing this. One time i suspected some file specific bug, but it keeps reappearing in newly created files. Might it be related to bleed settings? I don't know. But this bug makes share for review feature quite ununseable for serious design professionals.

16. SVG files open altered

    My files are continuously saving incorrectly. They look great when I save, but when I close out and open it later, things are not as they were. Anchors/handles jump out of whack, stylized effects disappear, rasterized images go blank or disappear; it is maddening. I cannot use this program if my files do not reopen as I saved them. They are exactly right when I hit save, but upon reopening, or opening in another program, they are altered in infuriatingly time-consuming ways.

    Possible related symptoms -- upon saving a file, Illustrator regularly tells me my file has been modified outside of Illustrator and asks if I would like to continue. I never open files in other programs which change them in any way. The only programs I use Illustrator files in is occasionally Photoshop, or when I upload them to be used with my 3D printer. I can open a brand new file, work on it, save it, work on it some more, not even leave the program, hit save, and get the message about it being modified elsewhere.

17. The font with a name which has ampersand symbol cause wrong with exported SVG file

    If there is an ampersand in the name of the inserted font, the exported svg file is not able to open due to not escaped symbol&. In fact it should be escaped into &amp, otherwise error named EntityRef will appear. After editing the SVG file manually, everything goes well.
    For example, a font with the family name "FontA&B" is inserted in a file. When I export, the svg file show "font-family: FontA&B" instead of "font-family: FontA&B" or "font-family: "FontA&B" ". So the bug might be tricky. Hope it can be fixed. This does affect my work.

18. Request for Improvement: Kerning Delay with Complex Background Data in Illustrator 2025

    I am experiencing performance issues with Adobe Illustrator 2025 (latest version) in the following environment:

    Environment: MacBook Pro 2024 (32GB RAM, SSD), macOS Sequoia
    File Setup: Approximately 30 artboards with the same complex background (vector data or high-resolution images)
    Issue: Kerning and text spacing adjustments result in a ~1-second delay per operation. Hiding the background does not resolve the issue, but removing it eliminates the delay.

    Attempted Solutions:
    Disabled Navigator panel and layer thumbnails
    Toggled GPU performance on/off

    Request: Please optimize performance to ensure smooth kerning operations even with multiple artboards and complex background data.

19. Properties Panel Content Missing in Illustrator v29.3

    Description of the Issue:

    After upgrading to Illustrator v29.3, the Properties panel no longer displays its full content. For example, when selecting a rectangle, the panel only shows "Rectangle" and "Quick Actions," while other expected options are missing. This issue persists even after clearing the cache, resetting preferences, and restarting the application.

    I downgraded to v29.2.1, and the Properties panel worked as expected. However, when I upgraded back to v29.3, the issue reappeared, confirming that this is specific to the v29.3 update.

    System Information:

    • Operating System: macOS 15.3.1
    • Adobe Illustrator Version: v29.3

    Steps to Reproduce:

    • Upgrade to Illustrator v29.3.
    • Open an existing file or create a new one.
    • Select an object (e.g., a rectangle) and check the Properties panel.
    • Notice that the panel does not display the full options as it did in v29.2.1.

    Expected Behavior:

    The Properties panel should display all relevant options for the selected object, as it did in v29.2.1.

    Actual Behavior:

    The Properties panel only shows limited options (e.g., "Rectangle" and "Quick Actions") and does not display the full range of properties for the selected object.

    Request for Assistance:

    Please investigate and address this issue in a future update. If a workaround is available, I would appreciate guidance on how to resolve this while using v29.3.

    This is expected to be fixed in the latest Pre-release build 29.4.0.130. If this fix is going to be stable enough, it’d can be pushed into the next GA build.

20. Dimensions of newly created objects have numerous decimal places and don’t get adjusted afterwards

    1. After leaving the computer on for a week with software running in the background, when trying to draw a new rectangle, the dimensions will show numerous decimal places. Moreover, when attempting to adjust the dimensions afterward, the values will jump erratically.

    2. The background backup process of the software occupies main operational resources, resulting in lag.
