1. SVG import bug: pattern alignment bugs

3. SVG import bug: SVG parser is (incorrectly) dependent on <defs> order

   The SVG spec recommends but does not require <defs> appear at the top of the document (before elements that use them).

   This SVG, from the MDN patterns page, imports visually to Illustrator (albeit incorrectly):

4. Fonts get missing on file reopening

5. Illustrator deletes macOS tags when file is stored on an SMB Synology server

   When I save an existing document on an SMB Synology server Illustrator removes/deletes the macOS tags assigned to the file.

   macOS 26.0.1, Illustrator 30.0, tested on SMB server: Windows 2019 and Synology.

7. Threaded Type not scaling correctly

   Mac Pro (2019, Intel), MacOS 15.6.1, Illustrator 29.7.1

   After the update to version 29.7.1, the text in linked type objects does not scale (using the Scale tool) or scales disproportionately (using the Selection tool).

   The Free Transform Tool currently appears to be the only way to scale these objects together while keeping the type size proportional to the objects being scaled.

   The issue occurs in new and existing documents.

   As reported, this problem happens most probably due the the recent May update for Windows. At the moment removing it seems like the best soultion to solve the problem.

   It seems that even when a portion of a grouped object is selected, this function still refers to the state of the parent groups state. The display should accurately reflect the state of the selection.

10. Once you start typing a font name in the Font Browser the scroll wheel stops working

    Once you start typing a font name in the Font Browser the scroll wheel stops working.
    Several of the other menus don't scroll either. For example, the units dropdown in the create new document window.

    Arrow keys still work.

11. Bring to front/back not working with new update

    Manually right-clicking and selecting "bring to front" and "send to back" aren't working. The shortcut (ctrl + shift + [ or ] ) is also not working. This seems to have started after updating to version 29.4.

    Every tutorial I can find hasn't helped. This bug has massively increased my workload as I use this action every few seconds.

12. Uniwidth/multiplexed fonts extends in Illustrator

    A font of mine is uniwidth/duplexed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniwidth_typeface) and keeps its width in InDesign and ABC Dinamo’s Font Gauntlet when changing the weight of the VAR.ttf.

    In Illustrator however, the text ‘extends’ when adding weight. Visualized: The last letter on a line is standing further right than before. The other way around it also contracts when lowering the weight, obviously.

    I went on and found the same behavior in other VAR fonts (right in InDesign, wrong in Illustrator), but also ones that don’t have the issue. My Illustrator version is up to date, and the bug was also in the previous version.

    Please have a look at that, type designers make uniwidth fonts exactly for the reason that they KEEP their width when changing its weight.

13. 一部の日本語フォントが正常に表示されない

    macOS Tahoe 26.0 / Macbook Pro Late 2023
    Illustrator 29.8.1

    添付画像のとおり、一部の日本語フォントが正常に表示されません。
    他のAdobeアプリ(Photoshop等)では正常に表示されますが、Illustratorだけがダメです。
    また、同じフォントでもウエイトによって表示される文字と表示されない文字が混在している様です。

    さらに、フォントパネル上ではフォント名が表示されていますが「フォントの検索と置換」のドキュメント内のフォント名が文字化けしています。

    Illustrator 28.7.9では正常に表示されている様なので、OS依存のバグではなさそうです。

14. Repeat objects ignore Select > Inverse command

    Take a look at the GIF attached and the file.

    I select the magenta square and use Select > Inverse to select everything but the square.
    It select the circles, the black one and the white one (inside of Radial Repeat) — all correct.

    Now I try Select > Inverse one more time, expecting to get the opposite result, only the magenta square selected.
    But the Radial Repeat object stays selected.
    It must not.

    These applies to other repeat types as well.

15. Spot channel percentage reduction after Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc is applied to a DeviceN Transparent Single Ink Image

    My client embeds raster PSDs that include an additional spot channel and applies pre-distortion to them using Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc. When the PSD is embedded, the spot channel becomes a Transparent Single Ink Image in the DeviceN color space with an alpha channel.

    After applying Envelope or Warp > Arc, the spot channel percentage is multiplied by the alpha channel value, while the alpha channel itself remains in the image. The result is a significant reduction in the effective spot ink coverage.
    In the attached example, a 50% spot in the original becomes 25% after the operation.

    Steps to reproduce
    1. Create a PSD containing a spot channel set to 50% and saved with transparency.
    2. Embed the PSD into the document so the spot channel is represented as a Transparent Single Ink Image in DeviceN with an alpha channel.
    3. Apply Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc to the embedded PSD.
    4. Inspect Acrobat Output Preview > Separations and compare the spot channel percentage before and after the effect.

    Actual result
    The spot channel percentage is multiplied by the alpha channel value during the Envelope or Warp operation, while the alpha channel remains present in the image. This reduces the visible spot ink amount. Example: 50% spot becomes 25% in the post-effect image.

    Expected result
    A spot channel percentage should be retained regardless of the Envelope/Arc effect applied.

    Technical notes
    • The embedded spot channel is exported as a Transparent Single Ink Image in DeviceN with an alpha channel.
    • The problem appears to occur when geometric distortion is applied via Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc.
    • Output Preview tools such as Acrobat Output Preview > Separations can be used to verify the discrepancy.

    Attachments
    I have attached a PDF that demonstrates the issue and includes the separations for convenience. Please compare the spot percentages in the original image and in the images after Envelope.

    Severity
    High for print accuracy and color separation workflows. This leads to incorrect ink percentages on separations and can cause production color failures.

    My client embeds raster PSDs that include an additional spot channel and applies pre-distortion to them using Envelope or Effect > Warp > Arc. When the PSD is embedded, the spot channel becomes a Transparent Single Ink Image in the DeviceN color space with an alpha channel.

    After applying Envelope or Warp > Arc, the spot channel percentage is multiplied by the alpha channel value, while the alpha channel itself remains in the image. The result is a significant reduction in the effective spot ink coverage.

16. 画像配置の際のフォルダ When placing or relinking images, Illustrator no longer remembers the folder location

    画像配置の際、複数回使っている同じ画像でもフォルダを記憶してくれず、大変に困っております。
    以前のように、一度フォルダを指定したら同じ場所を自動的に参照してくれる仕様に戻していただきたいです。
    制作作業において非常に不便で、効率に大きく影響しています。

    When placing or relinking images, Illustrator no longer remembers the folder location — even for multiple links that use the same image.
    It would be very helpful if Illustrator could once again remember the previously used folder, as it did before.
    This current behavior is extremely inconvenient and has a serious impact on workflow efficiency.

17. Use Artboards option disabled when exporting as PDF – even in new multi-artboard documents

    Description:
    In the current Illustrator version, the ‘Use Artboards’ checkbox in File ▸ Export ▸ Export As... ▸ PDF is greyed out and cannot be selected.
    This happens even in a new document with multiple artboards (e.g. 3 pages with simple shapes).

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Create a new document with 3 artboards
    2. Add simple objects on each artboard
    3. Go to File ▸ Export ▸ Export As… ▸ Select PDF
    4. → “Use Artboards” option is greyed out

    Expected result:
    “Use Artboards” should be selectable so that Illustrator exports each artboard as a separate PDF file.

    Actual result:
    Option remains disabled; Illustrator exports a single combined PDF instead.

    Environment:
    - Illustrator version [29.8.2, e.g. 28.0.1 Windows 11]
    - Tested with and without PDF-compatible AI saving
    - No linked or embedded content involved

    Impact (Urgency):
    This issue prevents multi-page export workflows, critical in professional environments (e.g. signage, print production, packaging).
    It requires manual scripting or third-party tools to achieve basic multi-page PDF export, which significantly slows production and increases error risk.

    Please confirm if this is a known issue and if a fix is planned.

18. Issue saving document on hard drive after creating a pattern swatch, file won't save or AI crashes. Cloud document saves fine!

    I keep recreating a pattern swatch to use on a social media image, and every time I go to save the document Illustrator either crashes completely or won't save the file and I have to start over again. Weirdly, saving to the cloud works just fine, it's only when I have to my hard drive on my brand new MacBook Pro. If I do any other work within the file, it will save. But if I create the pattern and use it within the file, the crash happens. Expected result is to be able to save the file on my hard drive and retain the pattern swatch in the file. Please help!!

19. Illustrator uses 100% CPU, sustained, even when idle and no documents open

    I've observed many times that when Illustrator (29.7.1, on macOS 15.6) is idle in the background, it's running a 100% CPU task. Even if I close all of its open documents, the CPU use is at 100% CPU, and stays there until I quit.

20. "Learn the tools" popups appearing on their own

    The Learn popups for the tools on the tool bar keep appearing on their own whenever I am in the application. I have to wipe my mouse over them for them to disappear, just for them to keep popping up when I am using Illustrator. This continues to happen the entire time I am in the application.
