1. オプティカルカーニングのテキストにタブを設定しても揃わない - Optical kerning text does not align when tabs are set

   「文字間のカーニング：オプティカル」のテキストに「タブ」パネルで「タブ位置」と「リーダー」を設定しても、タブの位置で文字が揃わない。

   MacOS Monterey（12.7.4） + Illustrator 2024（28.4.1）

   再現手順:
   1. テキストオブジェクトに文字パネルで「文字間のカーニング：オプティカル」を設定する
   2. 「タブ」パネルで「タブ揃え」、「タブ位置」、「リーダー」を設定する

   期待された結果:
   指定したタブ揃え・タブ位置でテキストが揃う

   実際の結果:
   指定したタブ揃え・タブ位置でテキストが揃わない

   回避方法:
   ・テキスト中のタブのみに「オプティカル」以外のカーニングを設定する
   ・タブを設定したテキストでは「オプティカル」以外のカーニングを利用する

   「オプティカル」以外のカーニングを利用すれば回避できますが、フォントや文字の内容によっては「オプティカル」を使いたいこともあります。その都度タブのみに「メトリクス」等を設定するのは手間がかかります。また、「リーダー」に記号等を設定しなければテキストは揃いますが、それではタブの機能を利用する意味がありません。
   InDesignにも同様の機能がありますが、カーニングの設定が何であれテキストの位置はタブ位置で揃います。
   ユーザーの工夫で回避するのではなく、Illustrator側が改善すべき挙動だと考えます。

   We can get around this by using kerning other than "Optical", but we want to use "Optical" for some fonts and content. It is time-consuming to set "Metrics" etc. only for tabs each time. Also, if "Leader" is empty, texts will be aligned, but that does not make sense to use tab feature.
   InDesign has a similar feature, but whatever kerning setting is, texts are aligned at the tab position.
   I think Illustrator behavior should be improved, rather than working around it with user ingenuity.

2. Artboard orientation changes from vertical to horizontal (portrait to landscape) by itself

   After update to 28.3, some artboards are switching orientation by themselves. It's not specific to content or number of artboards, apparently. Sometimes I just open a document with some artboards and hover my cursor over them (not even clicking anything) and the artboard just flips orientation from vertical to horizontal. Most of my work consists on social media posts (1080x1920px or 1080x1350px) witch now Illustrator insists in automatically switching to Landscape for no apparent reason.
   By the way, the content is not flipped, just the artboard. And not all of them, usually just one out of the 10 or 20 artboards in the document.

   The fix is pushed into Global Availability build 28.6.

3. Group Selection and Selection Tool move individual points and handles

   When using the Group selection tool, I highlight an object by clicking it and then try and move it. Rather than moving the object highlighted, the tool selects a single point - grabs it - and I move that single point instead. This often leads to a crash of the application.

4. Clipping compound shape doesn't have edges drawn

   When a compound shape (not a compound path, but a live result of any Pathfinder operation) is used as a clipping mask, Illustrator does not display edges for the resulting objects.

   1. View > Hide Bounding Box (for clarity, to see the issue better)
   2. Draw anything
   3. Create two intersecting rectangles
   4. Select these two rectangles, hold Alt and click Unite in Pathfinder panel to get a live compound shape
   5. Select both the compound shape and the art below
   6. Object > Clipping Mask > Make

   The resulting object has no edges drawn and can’t be seen as selected, until you enable the bounding box. There is no reason to not display the edges for it, except for the carelessness Adobe has about maintaining Illustrator a solid enough tool.

   When a compound shape (not a compound path, but a live result of any Pathfinder operation) is used as a clipping mask, Illustrator does not display edges for the resulting objects.

5. SVG text exportation creates a fragmented code

   All texts I wrote in a drawing, when exported to SVG files, were not anymore consistent: fragments of texts were overlapping each others.
   I opened SVG file using a text reader and I discovered that my texts were unnecessarily fragmented in many parts that finally were badly rebuild in the code.

6. Illustrator 2022 Ver 26.0.1: Freezes/Crashes on Exit

   Illustrator 2022 works fine, launches as usual. Yet when exiting the software, no matter if used or not, it freezes. The only way to properly exit the app is via Task Manager: End Process.

   Software has already been stress tested, cleaned up and reinstalled. Issue doesn't persist in previous version.

7. Tab forces viewport to jump when panels are docked

   When you have a complex document and panels docked, it takes a lot of time to hide them with Tab because the position of the viewport is moved. It does not happen when all panels are floating.

   1. Load Essentials Classic workspace
   2. Open any document with art in it (the more complex the better)
   3. Press Tab — viewport moves (and it is slow!)
   4. Press Tab again to show all panels
   5. Undock every panel and toolbars to make them float (including Control panel)
   6. Press Tab — viewports stays in place (and it is almost instant!)

   So the position of viewport should not move when Tab is pressed, in all cases.

8. When using optical type feature, since the update it displays the type as if it has no spaces?

   Running version 25.3 on illustrator.

   16.21 indesign.

   Since updating me and a few people i know who also use the software across indesign and illustrator have seen when using the optical type feature, it displays the type as if it has no spaces? Type treatment is thrown off to what is traditionally correct. Please fix this! This will have a massive knock on affect with branding agencies if rules are changing regarding such simple things.

10. Key anchor align mode gets activated when not actually needed

    Imagine I have an art I I want to move side points to be on the artboard's edge. There's a background underneath my piece and it's not locked (and I'm not in Outline mode) — so I can't marquee my 2 side points. What I do in this GIF is I click one point and then Shift+click another one. AI switches the mode to 'Key anchor', thinking that... I don't know what it's thinking :) and obviously pressing proper Align button does nothing.

    I know what Key Anchor does :) But it's not what I want now. And it would be better if AI would set key anchor as we define key object — by clicking it, don't you think?

11. Offset Path with small values (or Inside / Outside strokes) results in skewed lines

12. Snap to Point doesn’t work

    Illustrator 2020, Snap to Point doesn't respond anymore.
    Even if it's clearly turned on in the "view" menu.
    It's getting pretty upsetting.

13. Closing while saving dialogue box has a grammatical error.

    The close-while-saving dialogue box says "Close anyways" as an option which bugs me because it should read as "anyway" not "anyways." The latter is grammatically incorrect. Not to mention that "getting saved" is also wrong and should be "being saved"

14. Illustrator Keeps Crashing

    Illustrator crashes every time I use it. I could be drawing for two minutes and it will crash out of nowhere. It often lags as well. I have the newest update and have tried uninstalling and installing it and still it continues to crash. I am using Windows 10 Pro with illustrator.

15. Cambria text & large text cursor

    Looks like this was happening in 2017 as well... when using Cambria font, the cursor is 2 or 3 times as large as it should be when editing text. Makes highlighting & editing multiple rows almost impossible. I'd attach a file but others have shown the same thing already and it's simply a text box with Cambria text and a huge cursor. Text size is 11, height set at 13. In the same document but a text box using BonvenoCF, the cursor is the right height.

    Suddenly, the team reports they tried to fix this in the latest Beta Build 30.4.0.135. Kindly install it (or update, if you have Beta already installed) and check if the problem is indeed fixed before it gets pushed into the regular build.

16. Activate text field for numeric Rotation

    When the numeric rotation dialog is opened - it would be convenient when the text field is active for direct input of the Angle (I think this was the case in earlier versions).

    In Ai19, the dialog is 'dead' - nothing happens when we start typing - whe have to type 5x Tab to get in the field.

18. Illustrator 2019 won't quit (thinks a window is open) & all the menus are in disabled state.

    I updated to Illustrator 2019 today, and I have gone to close it down but the option is greyed out in the file menu.
    If I click anywhere it makes the error noise as if I have got an open window.
    This seems to be a glitch with the latest software release.

    I am glad to update that this issue was fixed in 23.1 release.

19. Delete Color Group in Swatches ungroups group instead deleting

    When I need to completely delete color group, I select it and press Delete palette's button (or try palette's menu). Any way. AI moves all colors from it to general colors, removing only the folder, but not colors, asking nothing (even with warnings reset).
    I have to deselect my art, click first of moved colors, Shift+click the last one and delete swathes again.

20. Unable to retain the last active artboard on switching from another file

    This is related to this issue here, though I'm unable to vote or comment on it. So I'm reposting this issue, because it's still annoying.

    When I ⌘+Tilde (~), on certain documents (the setting seems to be saved to a document), it automatically Fits Artboard to Screen on the last artboard of the document. It is confusing, and annoying, and interrupts workflows where I need to move quickly between artboards. Please fix this.

    I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
