1. (Slow) and not responding

   Hi!

   For the moment, I am unable to work on Illustrator. It worked fine earlier this week (even with a few unexpected crashes or slow moment).

   On a preexisting file or a brand new one, it is slow (zooming in or out for example takes seconds) if not just not responding at all: trying to move an element gives me a black window for a few sec' with a Not Responding state before I can see again and nothing has moved.

   I tried on v.25.0 and v.24.3 (from Windows 10).

   Maybe the issue comes from the computer, or Windows ?
   But the rest works fine.

   Let me know if you need more information.

2. illustrator is unable to save this document ... due to some unexpected errors.

   Prior that, I get a message saying "This file has been modified outside Illustrator. Do you want to continue?" Then I click yes.

   Then... "Illustrator is unable to save this document ... due to some unexpected errors."

   I've been getting this message every now and then whenever I try to save a document. Started when I updated my Adobe Illustrator to version 25.0.

   Save a copy yields the same result.

   Adobe Illustrator version 25.0
   macOS Catalina version 10.15.6

3. When creating new document in 24.2, two artboards are created

   Creating new document. Two artboards appear, even though I only requested one. I also now have "video safe areas" showing in default and can't get them to not show upon setting up new document.

4. Tools are all unusable

   MACOS 10.14.6 Illustrator 2021 cloud.
   Everything worked fine yesterday. New 2021 will not allow me to work on ANY project, old or new because the toolbox is locked. I launched Illustrator, opened a file, wanted to edit some text, selected the Type Tool, moved the cursor to the desired type and the cursor didn't change to the TYPE tool but showed a paintbrush with a locked icon attached. No matter which tool, or file (I tried several, also a NEW) the result was the same paintbrush icon.

6. Editing direct select tool node deletion/undo

   I love being able to delete a node just by pausing with the Apple Pencil on top of the node. However, there is a conflict with trying to move and adjust the node. Often when I am carefully and slowly moving a node, it deletes it instead of moving it. Then when I hit undo the node comes back but it isn’t visible. My work around is to click on a different line to select the nodes there and then click on the line that I want to edit. Then I can see the node I want to move again.

   This problem slows the workflow in fine tuning lines using direct select significantly. I frequently accidentally deleting instead of moving a node and then having to undo and select another line in order to see the node I want to move.

7. Alt click with the Scale tool makes y scale 0%

   Al clicking with the scale tool (to choose an origin and open the numeric scale dialog) results in a default Y scale of 0%

   That's strange!

   And please make the upmost input field the default selected one.

8. Adding colors from Adobe Libraries to swatches creates duplicates

   When I add a selection of colors from the adobe libraries panel to swatches, using the Ctrl+click and selecting 'add color to swatches' it adds them twice in the swatches panel. So if I select 5 colors and add, they show up in swatches as color1, color1,color2, color2,color3, color3,color4, color4,color5, color5

9. Distribute Spacing field is disabled if you set a key object BEFORE opening Align panel

   Windows 10 Pro (64-bit), Illustrator 24.0.1 (64-bit)

   If I wish to align / distribute two or more objects in Illustrator, if I select the objects and click on the 'master object' BEFORE I go to the 'Align' tool window, the distance box remains greyed out as you can see in one of the screenshots below. I find this very annoying, for example, I may have previously been on the 'Transform' tool window sizing my objects, then I copy them a few times and select them all, select a master object then go to the 'Align' window and the distance box is greyed out. I then have to re-select everything and re-select the master object while the 'Align' tool window is open for the distance box to become active. I find this very annoying and Illustrator CS5 didn't used to behave in this way. If this could be looked at please, it would be brilliant, thank you.

10. Error The session key is invalid or outdated

    I get this error when saving a file in Illustrator CC 2017 (21/1/0).

    Mac OS 10.12.6

    Click on OK and it goes away.

11. Unresposivness (again)

    I reported on this issue back in 2018 and for the past year or so, with the updates the issue has been solved (the response back then was that is was not a generic issue).

    Now with the latest update this came back again.
    After some time of using illustrator all the menus go blank when opening and everything stops displaying correctly especially throughout the interface and sequentially stops working all together. The good news is I can save even though I can't see if I do and after restarting the program everything works again, until it happens again.

    I had to roll back to the previous version.

    Windows 10, AI version 25.1 (now back at v 25.01)

12. Unable to save in same folder or same name

    Unable to just save in the same folder y pressing ctrl + s. I have to save in a different folder or save with a different name. Unbearable.

13. When copying text in Arabic or Hebrew, Illustrator messes up the characters.

    Somehow the text gets flipped into Jibberish. Even when Arabic fonts are used such as Adobe Arabic. This causes the world to be filled with jibberish Hewbrew and Arabic.

14. New Illustrator 2020 laggy and slow on the simplest of tasks

    Illustrator 2020 is really laggy and slow, only when completing simple tasks like colour picking, moving art-boards, selecting different objects, or even just wanting to zoom in or out.

    General slowness on using Illustrator on Mac is one of the major issues reported in this thread. Illustrator team made significant progress in replacing Illustrator’s GPU rendering engine from OpenGL to macOS Native Metal Rendering Engine – https://developer.apple.com/metal/.
    We have observed common operations like Zoom, Pan, and rendering operations are now smoother in cases where it was sluggish as reported in this thread. We urge Mac users to try the Illustrator Beta build with Metal support and share your feedback.
    Please note, this may not address other performance issues reported in this thread not related to rendering like File Save, Export, or slowness in any particular feature.

15. 'Edit Color Group' does not respect global or spot color swatches.

    The 'edit color group' tool is a neat little palette explorer, but in practice I never use it because my workflow is centered around global swatches, and it completely ignores that.

    Try this:

    1. Make a few global color swatches. Draw some shapes using them.
    2. Double-click on one of those swatches, play with the sliders, notice that everything drawn in it changes to match.
    3. Make those swatches into a color group.
    4. Select the color group and hit the 'Edit Color Group' button in the Swatches palette.
    5. Change some colors, hit OK, yes you do want to save your changes to the swatch group.
    6. Observe that every swatch you just changed is now non-global, and all art drawn in those formerly-global swatches is now unlinked from the swatches.
    7. Do the same thing again except substitute 'spot color' for 'global color'; observe the similar effects.

    IMHO, Illustrator should preserve the global/spot status of swatches when using this tool.

    And given that it's failed to do this for a while and people have built workflow expectations around this behavior I am completely fine with an 'Edit Color Group preserves spot/global swatches' switch somewhere that defaults to off, if you're worried about people screaming about this. in the next version. :)

16. Problema con trasparenze ed altri problemi in AI 25.1 (Aggiornamento del 8/01/2021)

    In seguito all'ultimo aggiornamento (Illustrator 25.1 dell'8/01/2021) riporto i seguenti bug e malfunzionamenti:
    1) I poligoni vettoriali quando vengono messi in trasparenza non hanno il bordo bello pulito ma presentano una linea tutta frastagliata! (allego immagine)
    2) Ad ogni avvio dell'iMac nel cestino compare una cartella "Recovery Files" con cartelle "AIRobin" anche se AI non è andato in crash e non ha avuto arresti anomali di alcun tipo.

    Qualcuno sa aiutarmi e indicarmi soluzioni a questi problemi?

17. Font agent 9.6.1

    OS 10.13.6 High Sierra [don't want to upgrade OS yet]
    Illustrator 24.3
    Every time I open a file I get an error messgae saying that my 2015 plug ins need upgrading. Click to upgrade. I don't have 2015 plug ins. Suggestion from font agent is to upgrade Illustrator, can't do that as I don't want to upgrade OS.
    Solution dismiss error message every time, really tedious.
    What else can I do?

    When openinig a Autocad drawing whit textattributes it seems that this procudure also creates en second empty attribute layer whitch is not selectable

19. Area-Type error when spaning over multiple pages

    Using a W10 pro with the last version of Adobe CC Illustrator.

    Steps:

    I have a small brochure that has some articles. I use area-type and there are some artciles that span over multiple pages. I format my text: font Myriad Regular 12pt, with fist-line indent 14pt and text alignement justify with last lign aligned left.
    In the case that the sentence splits at the end of the page, and continues on the next page, the rest of the sentence is shown with first-line indent (and it shouldn't). When selecting the text, the selection it shows you that there is no first-line indent. This way making very difficult to make changes to the text, because you are never shure what you select.

    Expected result:
    - the text must be without the first-line indent on the new page, because it is the continuation of a sentence...not a new sentece.

    Actual result:
    - text hanging with first-line ident without any reason, on the new page;
    - selecting the text until new pararaph break, is very dificult, because the text that you see is not what you select.

20. Graphics do not show when document is opened, only in preview

    When I open a document with several artboards that was created in the 2019 edition of Illustrator I can see all images in the preview - but when I open the document there are only empty artboards. How can I avoid recreating all my artwork?
    My Illustrator is updated to the latest edition and the technicians have deleted all previous versions. My computer has 16 GB RAM, x-64 and runs the Windows 10 pro.
