1. Type resizing issue in Illustrator CC 2019 v23.0.1

   If I try to change the point size of a typeface on type that is indeed selected (any typeface - not specific to any one in particular), while I can select or type in a specific size in the type "window" (cmd T to open, or I just open it from my docked windows) it has no effect on the actual size. I can change the size using the panel across the top (see attached screen cap) just fine.

   This just started happening today. I've done no updates related to my OS (latest version for Mac of Mojave) or Illustrator.

2. Illustrator hangs when opening a file or creating a new one

   Windows 7 Professional with all the latest updates.

   I tried the following Illustrator Versions:

   V 23.0 and V 22.1

   Illustrator opens as usual and I see the overview screen. When I select a file or try to create a new one it just loads forever. Nothing happens. Also in task manager there is nothing going on. No high cpu or memory usage.

   I worked for years with Illustrator on this machine. Version 22.1 always worked. The issue appeared after updating to the latest version. I also uninstalled the latest version but the issue still remains. Any idea of how to track down this problem?

   Windows 7 Professional with all the latest updates.

3. Dropdown menu cut off

   When trying to interact with the drop down menus those that are particularly long (and by that I mean it takes up the whole length of the screen) I can't access any features below the cut off. The most problematic instance of this phenomenon is in Windows drop-down because it cuts off at Pathfinder. The list goes in alphabetical order which means I can no longer access my swatch panel. I can't add it to me workspace. This is the same for all work panels after pathfinder; symbols, stroke, transparency, and so on.

   I'm working with Adobe Illustrator CC 2017 21.1.0

   As stated in a comment, this can happen on Windows if the taskbar is docked at the top. If this is something that happens for you too — pleased add a vote and comment.

4. Bug - Variable Concept fonts do not show on screen or in output

   Mac OS 15.3.2
   Illustrator 28.4.5
   Plugins: Esko DeskPack Essentials 24.07; extensis Connect Fonts 27.0.0

   Variable Concept fonts do not show. The text box is visible when I change to View Outlines. I can select the text lines and see the colour and font information; the text does not appear on screen or in output. Our only solution is to quit Illustrator and restart. This seems to fix the view issues, but we now have to quit/restart multiple times per day.

5. Horizontal Scroll Not Working

   Horizontal Scroll Not Working. Windows 10 HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-ch0xx. The horizontal scroll works on other apps and on Photoshop. The horizontal scroll only does not work on Illustrator. This is a new install because I am having my macbook pro repaired because I scratched my screen. On my mac the horizontal scroll works fine. The other problems I noticed on both my mac and the new PC install is the alignment distribute input unit of measurement does not show up sometimes. If I toggle the show/hide bounding box it fixes it. Also on both my mac and PC when i select a key object without the alignment panel being open the distribute input field is not active until I deselect the key object and then re-select the key object for the distribute input field to become active for input

6. Screen glitching when moving cursor

   Any idea what's going on here? Whenever I open older files to edit information I'm getting a strange glitching when moving the cursor. It doesn't matter if I switch to Overprint or Preview - the issue immediately comes back. I've also Quit and Restarted and the problem still persists.

   Running 28.0 on macOS Ventura 13.6.1

   So, so bored of these constant issues when updating your software.

7. My Illustrator CC window will not minimise into the dock?

   Hi,

   Not sure where to go with this one but I have just upgraded to Adobe CC and noticed that I'm unable to 'Minimise' the window in Illustrator and also noticed that it won't do it in InDesign but Photoshop does minimise (ODD!)

   All it will do is when you double click it fills to fit screen and then the opposite.

   I have posted this onto the forum and others have mentioned that they are also experiencing this problem.

   (I have turned on the 'Double -click a windows title bar to minimize' in the System Preferences)

   Please could you help me out?

   Spec: InDesign CC 13.0.1
   MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra 10.12.2

8. Paragraph Style -> Library Bug (Stroke Weight Lost)

   If you create a paragraph style with a thin outline (e.g. 0.25) different from the fill color, and then add that style to the library, the library does not record the weight assigned to the stroke (e.g. 0.25). See images. Note that "Annotations Red", and "Annotations Red Lib" are the same style, I renamed it to prevent an overwrite. As you can see, though the fill and outline colors are correct, the stroke weight resets to default.

   Also your system doesn't allow me to upload screen shots (.jpeg). Not sure what that's about. Here's a link to the my screencaps:

9. GPU Preview displaying hidden shapes

   In GPU Preview, turning off the visibility of a shape in the layers panel doesn't always hide the shape - it still remains on screen.
   If I switch to Outline view the shape is hidden correctly.
   If I switch back to GPU Preview the shape is still being displayed.
   I have to reboot Illustrator to get GPU Preview to work correctly again.
   And then it goes wrong again very soon afterwards.

   This has now happened several times.
   I've also had shape fills showing as incorrect colors in GPU Preview, eg. a square with a white fill, suddenly started displaying as a bright orange fill!

10. Unable to Merge swatches, screen freezes

    In latest version of Illustrator 2020, I am running the script that brings Swatch Conflict Dialog, which is ok but it does not allow me to merge swatches. I cannot select or change radio button selection. I have attached the screenshot of the dialog.

    You can disable alerts during script execution with below method

    app.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DONTDISPLAYALERTS;

    This assumes the default option selected in the dialog and proceed with further script execution.

11. Illustrator and Adobe apps are slow on retina display

    Hi All!

    I have an issue with Illustrator (23.0.2) on my brand new 15" retina Macbook Pro 2018 (latest edition 2,6GHz i7, 16GB ram, RadeonPro 560X).

    I've seen lot of similar issues here, but I would like to say about an interesting thing.

    If I moving around in a document or zoom in/out (simple or complex), it works really slow. If I switch to GPU preview, it's much better, but in CPU preview it's horrible and unusable.

    Bigger problem is that on my previous 13" MacbookPro (2012 mid, 2,9Ghz i7) without dedicated graphics card everything works fine (in CPU and GPU preview as well). Both laptop has the latest Mojave and Illustrator version.

    And the best: if I connect an external display (fullHD) to my new macbook pro, the Illustrator works much better on that screen. But if I move the Illustrator window back to the laptop screen, the issue is coming back again.
    Why?!

    The macbook pro not able to handle the Adobe apps on retina display well? Because I experienced similar problems in Premiere Pro when I'm working on the timeline.

    I bought a very expensive laptop for work, I have full Adobe subscription and I don't understand why I'm here or any other forums?

    I sent an email about these to sharewithai@adobe.com, but I haven't got answer yet.

12. Mad Color (Colour)

    Colours are altered opening older files. The colour (color) settings are completely wrong—the idropper doesn't select properly. I tried to do a screen grab to get a sample from it but all the colours fade. The screen grab brought into illustrator then screen grabbed again fades all the colours again!!!! This doesn't happen if I screen grab anywhere else.

13. Tool palettes don’t stick to the second monitor.

    I use Illustrator in a multi-monitor setup. Tool palettes are on the second screen, while the Document window is on the main monitor.

    Since the Update to macOS Ventura if I wake up the Mac after a sleep (or unlock the screen after I locked it) all the tool palettes jump from their position on the second screen to the main screen.

    This is always reproducible for me on two different machines under macOS Ventura (13.0–13.2.1) and Illustrator 2013 (27.3.1).

14. Mac OS Save As file name highlight bug

    Productivity killing bug in Illustrator 25.2.3, but not Photoshop 22.3.1!:

    Mac OS (Catalina, currently) Save As dialog box highlights the entire file name, including the extension, which has been a bug the past several versions. For over a decade, Save As would not include the extension in the highlight, so one could tap the arrow key once to the end of the file name to change it, to increment a version number for example. This bug has been a huge stumbling block in my productivity.

    Also, in Illustrator, the sometimes Save As does not highlight the file name at all AND the escape key does not dismiss the dialog box. Double bug!

    Here are screen shots of the errors, with Photoshop doing the correct behavior and being the winner:

16. Progress Bar freezes when clicking on Menu Bar

    While saving or exporting, the progress bar can be frozen by clicking on any option (File, Edit, etc) in the Menu Bar and leaving the drop down open.

19. Certain shapes make illustrator change from GPU to CPU. Can't change back until a fresh reinstall.

    I created this glass effect on my laptop and exported it to drive to download onto my PC. It opens normally with GPU preview but it switches to CPU if I zoom into my work. After some experimenting I found out it's only because of my shapes that create the glass effect. It affects both my laptop and PC. Laptop uses 1660 Max Q, not intergrated graphics.

    It also affects other files (not consistent), that I open at the same time. Other files that are affected can't be changed back to GPU preview despite reopening the files individually. PC restart doesn't change it back to GPU preview. Only deleting the shapes AND a fresh reinstall does. (Only reinstalled the latest version to fix it)

    I'm currently using version 27.3.1. I've only installed version 27.2 without deleting the glass shape to troubleshoot and it has the same problem.

    Laptop specs: ROG zephyrus g14 2020
    Model: GA401IU
    Specs:
    Ryzen 4800HS
    16 GB ram
    1660 Ti with Max-Q design (driver: 31.0.15.3129)

20. GPU issues with certain graphics cards and Mac updates

    So after a lot of time spent on chat and phone with Adobe. It seems that I am unable to use v25.4.1 or v26 in GPU mode unless I upgrade to Monterey.

    However Monterey is in its infancy. I'm not taking the risk of upgrading yet.

    My machines both have the same GPU redraw issues, where images within clipping masks create echoed glitches of themselves across the screen. this disappears when GPU mode is turned off.

    CPU mode in Illustrator is so sluggish it's pretty much unworkable.

    Adobe informs me this is NOT an Adobe issue, it is an issue with my graphics card and it needs to be updated. however, on a Mac, the only way I can do this is to move to Monterey.

    It seems the only solution is to revert back to v25, which works.

    MacBook Pro 15" 2018

    Graphics card -
    Radeon Pro Vega 20 4 GB
    Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

    Imac Pro 2017

    Graphics Card -
    Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 GB
