  1. Asset Export panel list view trims filenames to approx 24 characters

    Asset Export list view should show full file name or clip to panel width. As it stands, my file names are being trimmed even though there is plenty of room to show the full name.

  2. Can't export a PNG file ([now!] error)

    Hello,

    I am trying to export my illustration in PNG at 300 dpi, but every time it is showing me the attached error. It's not with this file only. Even if I am trying to export a simple rectangle, I am getting the same error. I am using windows 8.1 pro and illustrator version is 2018.

    Kindly help.

  4. Circle size change when rotating

    When I rotate a perfect circle, the size changes up to .004”. A 15”x15” circle, when rotated 17.184° becomes a 15.004”x15.004” circle. I know it may sound trivial, but I’m creating technical drawings that have to be accurate to the ten thousandths of an inch.

  5. Decreases for Asset Export panel settings v29

    Confirmed environment
    Windows 11 24H2
    Version 29.8.1 and 29.8.2
    English and Japanese Edition

    In the Asset Export format settings, the number of items displayed differs from what should normally appear.
    This issue does not occur immediately after installation. It reoccurs when Illustrator is closed and reopened, then the settings are displayed via Asset Export.
    Temporarily displaying “Export for Screen” from the File menu's Export option restores normal display.
    This phenomenon does not occur in 28.7.10.
    But, this phenomenon occurs in 30.0.72 Beta.

    Japanese explanation:
    「アセットの書き出し」にある「形式の設定...」で、表示される項目が通常と異なり少なくなってしまいます。
    インストール直後に動かした場合には発生しません。Illustratorを一度閉じて再度起動し、アセットの書き出しから設定を表示すると、この問題が発生します。
    一時的な回避方法として、ファイルメニューの書き出しオプションから「スクリーン用に書き出し...」でダイアログを一度表示させると正常に表示されます。
    （Illustratorを再度終了させて起動すると再発しますので、また同じ手順が必要です）
    この現象は 28.7.10 では発生しません。
    しかし30.0.72 Betaでは発生します。

  6. Using Batch... and "Override save/export commands" does not work

    Example: I have an action that prepares a logo file, then saves to ai and svg, and exports to png and jpg.

    I have it recorded as an action, and it runs great.

    If I try to use "Batch..." to run it on a folder of images I have options to "Override Action 'Save' commands" and "Override Action 'Export' commands" that will let you point the save/export commands to a new folder. This is great in theory, but does not work right.

    After running the batch, I only have 2 files. Not 4. The Save as…

  7. Intertwine bug when export as pdf X4

    mac os 12.6, illustrator 2023
    create 2 intertwining circles, save as PDF X4 with the Illustrator default settings and you get a bitmap instead of vector data..
    by choosing "compatibility: acrobat 8" the problem does not appear.

  8. Exporting SVG using different methods provides different results

    When exporting as an svg using the native "Export, export for screens" Adobe exports the svg as an svg 1.0.

    Which isn't as commonly supported as svg 1.1

    However, if a user opens that same svg in illustrator and bypasses the export as, and just does cmd + s, it becomes an svg 1.1

    It would be useful to always have the same format rather than different ones. Preferably always save as svg 1.1

    Hi Daniel,

    Thanks a lot for reaching out to the Illustrator team. As a matter of fact, the newer SVG2 specification does no longer use versions anymore.

    The main reason is that all modern SVG import tools/browsers ignored the version number and just open with what ever is in the SVG file.

    Due to the implementation behaviour and the spec change and to reduce file size, all export scenarios do no longer export with a “version” attribute. That does NOT mean that SVG files get interpreted as version 1.0! The exported features matter not the version number.

    We will update the Save as (CMD+S) route in the future to follow the pattern of SVG export.

  9. SVG Export - Compound Paths Cause Performance Issues & Unexpected Results

    Windows 10, Illustrator 25.2.3 | System info attached and repro file attached.

    There are 2 artboards and asset exports defined in the file.

    They are the same illustration with 1 difference - the "grouped" version has a set of paths grouped together, and the "compound" version has those same paths combined into a compound path.

    I ran 3 test exports with my repro file, increasing paths: first 500 paths, then 1000 paths, and finally 1500 paths. Here's the export times:

    Test 1 | 0500 paths | Grouped: 10 seconds | Compound: 130 seconds
    Test 2 | 1000 paths…

  11. Changing size in export doesn't change size

    When exporting files via Save As, if I change the size, it doesn't update the actual export size until I do something else, like toggle the clip to artboard on and off or change from optimize for Art to for type. This has been a persistent error across versions of Illustrator and MacOS for some time.

    Once you hit tab to leave that portion of the export dialogue, it should update without any additional steps.

  13. Name artboard is not added to the file name when exporting (JPG or PNG, etc.)

    When executing the command "File > Export As" and exporting, for example, to JPG, the name artboard 3 "preview" is not automatically added to the file name. Everything was fine in the previous version (26.3.1) of Illustrator.

  14. Illustrator crashes when switching views in the Asset Export panel

    Has this been reported yet? There's a really easy-to-reproduce crash bug in Adobe Illustrator involving the Asset Export panel that affects even the latest version (24.2) .
    If the Asset Export panel contains more than two items and an item other than the first is currently being renamed and the view is attempted to be switched from Grid View to List View, the mouse cursor will begin to move really slowly for a few seconds and after that, Illustrator will crash.   15. Illustrator is not exporting with the current file name

    1. Create a document
    2. Draw a rectangle (just for it to have something inside)
    3. Save it anywhere as '1.ai'
    4. Export a, say, TIF, with default settings (these don't really matter) — Ai will offer '1.tif' name for the file exported
    5. Save this document as '2.ai'
    6. Export another TIF — Ail will use '1.tif' name, although the file is now '2.ai' This is wrong. Ai should adapt the name from the file actual name and not the original one.

  16. Export Selection, Assets Panel not saving as before

    Prior to 25.4.1 I would highlight objects, Export Selection, Assets Tab, select the image, give it a filename, specify the export folder location (same every time), scale the image as 1.2x, put a suffix as @1.2, format = PNG 8 and the Export. Previously in Mac OS 10.15.7 (Catalina) the exported file when selected in Finder would show Dimensions, Resolution, and Color Space in the file details preview. This is no longer the case.   17. Export as SVG should respect all-caps style on text

    Text in Illustrator file set with All-Caps style. When export as SVG, the style is lost. Either the style should be preserved, or, during export, the case should be hard-coded into the text (e.g. "Hello" styled as all-caps becomes "HELLO").

  19. SVG Export ignores layer id <g> tag for some artboards and layers, but not all of them

    When exporting to SVG, some tags are ignored and some are not for the same document and export event.
    I tried reproducing the problem and were successful.
    Also, I tried fixing the problem and were, in a sense, successful.

    Fixed it using the assets option on the export panel: it creates 2 layers <g> tags. One of them has the correct naming (stroke) and the other is just generic (Layer2). The compiler put stroke inside layer2. Not good for my automation process and where did layer_2 come from? I did not create it.

  20. Cannot Export Print Quality PNG from Illustrator 2021 Mac OS Catalina

    Every time I try to export my large print quality files from Illustrator as .png, I get an error message. The Operation Cannot Complete Because of an Unknown Error [!now] I am trying to maintain the 300dpi quality because this is how my printer accepts files. (As .png.) My Illustrator file is 10000 x 10000 pixels at 300 dpi. I have tried it as 150 dpi and all of the export settings and always get the error message.
