1. Decimal point massive problems (AI CC 2017.1.0 macOS 10.12.6)

   I’ve documented the issue here:

   this problem has been discussed ad nauseam on the forum, but it still persists: AI 2017.1.0 on macOS 10.12.6 still has massive problems with handling of the decimal comma vs. point. On my system (macOS 10.12.6), all dialog boxes within Illustrator display numbers with decimal commas, but any operation (such as moving an item with cursor keys or using the cursor Up or Down keys within text boxes) makes the values multiply by 100 and then "explode".

   When I start a new document, the Width textbox of the page says "210,00 mm". If I click into the textbox and use the Up key, I’d expect the number to become 211,00 mm, but instead, it gets treated as 21000, so it probably becomes 21001 and then gets truncated to 5779,56 mm (because for whatever reason, Illustrator won’t allow me to design a document larger than 5.7 meters wide, but that’s another issue). Then, the same problems persist in the Transform palette, the top control palette and pretty much everywhere. Also, because of that, trying to move items with the cursor keys result them to instantly jump off the screen (because if their X position is 300,00 mm, and I press the Right key to move them, they end up at 30001,00 or somewhere such.

   Illustrator accepts keyboard input of numbers with a decimal point only (200.5) but those inputs get instantly converted into commas (200,50 mm). When I input a number with a comma (200,5) that number becomes 20050,00 mm. And all **** breaks loose.

   This problem has been reported AGAIN and AGAIN, but seemingly nothing happens.

   This problem does not exist in other apps, including other Adobe apps like Photoshop or InDesign — only in Illustrator.

   I removed ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 21 Settings and ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.illustrator.plist

   I uninstalled Adobe Illustrator CC 2017 and installed it again.

   I even switched the app language — previously, I had the English (Arabic) version of AI (enAR) installed and now I’ve installed the English (International) (enGB).

   This all doesn’t help.

2. Can't move the Recolor Panel on a small screen

   My screen resolution is 1366 x 768, I am facing this problem since I started using this laptop (HP EliteBook 850 G3): everything in Illustrator is working fine, but I am not able to move Recolor Panel, because the top section of recolor panel is hidden under the ruler, I have to hide the ruler and how somehow hardly I can move the panel.

   Illustrator Version 25.4 auf Windows 10

   Beim Speichern einer ai Datei, welche einen Pfad mit einer Konturlinie (mittige Ausrichtung) 0,124 px enthält wird das svg korrekt abgespeichert.
   Ändert man die Ausrichtung zu einer am Pfad innen liegenden oder außen liegenden Konturlinie, wird beim Speichern keine Konturlinie mehr mitgegeben sondern eine Füllfarbe, die die gesamte Fläche betrifft.

4. Tool panels are enlarged or scaled up

   Updated to Illustrator 2019 - workspace panels have increased dramatically in size - see screen grab of Illustrator and the same area in photoshop.

   Solutions helpful as I cannot have as many panel open as they now take up so much space!

   Since MacOs Sequoia upgrade, Illustrator randomly recording / monitoring screen despite disabled in Privacy settings. Sequoia bug, AI bug, or Sequoia revealing this was happening all along. Could just be the color picker, could not. Doesnt happen reliably with color picker use. Only happens in Illustrator and only since the Sequoia upgrade. Something isnt working right between the OS and app.
   If screen monitoring is turned off, Illustrator should not be able to monitor.

   Illustrator uses Apple screenshot API to pick colors outside the Illustrator window with Eyedropper tool. Apple has enhanced security in the recent OS updates to let user know which applications are recording the screen, whether you pick a color value of single pixel or recording the entire screen.

   Illustrator is not recording users's screen, it is required for Eyedropper tool to pick color from single pixel.

6. Rotate lagging/hangs, whenever I'm in rotate tool and rotating lines or objects, sometimes I experience lagging about 1 - 2 minutes

   it stucks on this cursor here(image attached), it will last 30 seconds - 1-2 minutes, been dealing with this for a long time.

   Looking forward for the fix.

7. Regression in version 27.0 - SVG tspan not handled correctly

   Hello

   When I place the following SVG

   <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" viewBox="0 0 500 500" width="500" height="500"><text><tspan>60</tspan></text></svg>

   And then try to export the object back to SVG, I get

   <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="36.86" height="39.2" viewBox="0 0 36.86 39.2"/>

   The tspan content is gone.

   Without the tspan it works ok. It also works fine in AI 26.5

   The example is an extract from a larger SVG object created through the Datylon plugin

   Seems like an AI regression bug. Any chance it will be fixed in later versions?

8. Making changes to rgb vector artwork causing color changes

   Using the latest version of Illustrator CC, when I open a particular logo (a multi-layered object with active strokes) and make any changes (ex: outline strokes, rotate, re-scale, etc), I experience a color dulling and color changes to the entire logo.

   Oddly enough this only happens with the RGB version of the logo, not the CMYK version of the logo. And when I cmd-z these actions the color dulling / color changes won't revert back. In all of my years using Illustrator I've never witnessed this strange behavior, which is why I assume this is a bug.

   Even stranger, after the color changes appear, when I try applying the same exact color swatch to all layers, some of the colors still remain dull. For example, if I select the leaf in the artwork (which consists of a color fill and a stroke) and I apply the same color swatch to both the color fill and stroke, the stroke shows a dull color, yet the color fill shows the actual color. Even though all layers and groups show 100% opacity. The file has been set to RGB color mode, has been converted to RGB, and I'm using RGB swatches.

   Can someone please look into this? I'm unable to make edits to my files. Could this be a result of opening a PDF file that was created in a past version of Illustrator on another computer? I wouldn't think that would be the issue since the file doesn't use anything fancy (just brush strokes and color fills), and this doesn't explain why I'm not experiencing these problems with the CMYK version of the same exact artwork.

10. Exported files omit names of artboards

    When I selected the page range, the exporting file didn't have the artboard name. I am using the latest version on mac m1 max with the latest system. After reinstalling the older version, the problem has gone.

11. Illustrator to Photoshop broken

    I am trying to bring my Illustrator drawing into Photoshop. Exporting from Illustrator to PSD format is giving me errors so I am trying to copy from Illustrator and paste into Photoshop as Smart Objects. This was one big object that I pasted into Photoshop. In Photoshop it displays just that one object. When I open the Smart Object in Illustrator I get the full drawing. I'm not sure which program is at fault but starting with Illustrator since the export function is failing.

12. White bars over the screen when turning Overprint Preview off?

    Hi

    Been noticing a bug where I get white bars over my screen as I scroll – seems to happen mainly if I come out of Overprint Preview. If I float my tabs to windows or switch Overprint preview back on it cures it, but obviously this isn't actually a fix and is pretty annoying as it happens so often.

    Can anyone suggest a more permanent fix please?

13. Finder Apps and Adobe Bridge no longer open Adobe Illustrator

    Something changed with the last update that altered the default association between Illustrator files and the application. I first noticed it when my barcode app failed to launch Illustrator upon export—something that had been working perfectly for years. Then, I encountered the same issue in Adobe Bridge: every time I double-click a .ai file, it simply won’t open.

    After investigating, I discovered that the default file association for .ai files had been changed to something called IllustratorDiagnosys (see screenshot). Manually changing this back to Adobe Illustrator within Bridge resolved the issue inside that app, but external applications and links are still not functioning as expected.

    Additionally, resetting Bridge to its default settings restores all .ai file associations to IllustratorDiagnosys 29.3.1.

    It seems that something in the file association preferences was modified, not just affecting Bridge, but the entire system.

14. Screen Problems

    Hi, There.

    I use Illustrator CC 2018 and my OS is Win10 64bit.

    Graphic Card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti.

    My illustrator have a problem comes up.

    The problem is when i drawing or moved object and that gray is what breaks my screen.(like a images.)

    I checked GPU Performance of illustrator Options.

    but, This problem is over and over again!

    some additional suggestion: You may want to keep your memory free by reducing the number of undoes – last 200 edits in memory may be too much of data in memory that you may not need ever.

15. Illustrator 2021 won't reopen files that are saved as and returns error - reboot necessary - iMac M1

    I have the lastest 2021 version of Illustrator (25) on Apple's newest iMac M1
    and Mac OS Big Sur 11.4

    I often save files as templates (option "save as") and I've noticed that:
    - When I save a file as or
    - Export a file under a certain format (even PDFs at times)

    Coming back to the original document isn't possible, upon opening, the following dialog box appears (see screen shot) and at that point, a reboot is necessary to make this possible.

    My files are located on a NAS but I am not convinced the NAS is incriminated in any kind of ways.

16. Extrude not working as expected in AI 2020

    The extrude and bevel tool, is not working at all, compared to prior versions. Shading is not working, the full extrusion only works when adding perspective degrees to the bevel... It's all a broken mess, and the rotation tool is not working either. Rotating a square chops off a corners, puts it inside a mask, and needs to be pulled out of the layer to get the desired outcome.

17. Flashing screen when loading multiple files at once

    When multiple files are loaded at one time when the Application Frame is disabled it will result in an annoying screen flicker/blinking of each file loading as a new window. The more files that are loaded at once the more blinking you will be blinded by.

    Usually of Illustrator preloads all of the files first and then loaded the main window/set of tabs, as apposed to loading each tab one at a time with this visual annoyance.

    I've tested this on earlier on Illustrator 23.1.1 on High Sierra and this issue does not occur.

    It does occur on my primary iMac running Mojave.

    My Setup:
    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
    4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 16 GB
    AMD Radeon R9 M395 2GB

    Resolution: 5120 x 2880
    Mac OS 10.14.4

    I am installing Catalina now to confirm if the issue occurs along with other more extreme white flickering issues.

18. Smart guides not working on Text Area boxes

    Mac OS 10.11.6 El Capitan (and also Windows 10)
    Illustrator CC 2018

    Hi!
    I have a problem with the latest version of Illustrator (I just upgraded from CS6):
    Smart Guides do not appear on Text Area boxes (corners or sides), for example when I want to draw a line with the pen from one corner of a box to a corner of another box).
    They do appear normally on other objects.

    Snap to Grid and Snap to Pixel are off. Snap to Point is on, but the problem is the same when off.

    Is anyone experiencing the same? Is there a Preference I missed?

    (it's hard to show the problem on a picture, as the screen capture hides the mouse cursor, but here's one of the Smart Guides working when I MouseOver another object's anchor point)

    Doesn’t happen anymore with recent builds of Illustrator

19. Welcome screen doesn't show

    Hello,
    I'm using windows 10 and Illustrator 24.0.2.

    Whenever I'm launching Illustrator, without opening a .ai file, my welcome screen doesn't show at all. I can start a new project fine but I still need my screen to show. And yes the setting to show the welcome screen is checked.

20. Random extra lines generated along with results in 3D & Materials tool in vector mode.

    I am working on a logo for a client - generating metallic text elements for part of it. The tool works quite well, but I'm having an issue where I cannot get it to stop drawing seemingly random vector lines around the generated element.

    It seems to be persistent across EVERY setting. Bevel or inflate, raytracing or not, any quality, any DPI, any color space, reduce noise or not, it is independent of material - IDK what else to try. They are not selectable, I cannot do anything with these extra lines!

    It does go away when you turn vector off, but I need this logo to remain as a vector, because it will be printed in various sizes from business card to large banners.

    I'm kind of losing my mind here, I'm supposed to present this artwork to the client tomorrow and I don't think I can present it with these random lines!

    Additional note, if I drag that element into the graphic styles tab, and then try to apply it to another copy of the same element, it draws the exact same set of extra lines.

    Additional note 2: The extra lines don't seem to be present if I export the element as a 3D .usda file, but I can't seem to then reimport that to illustrator.

    I just updated illustrator and no change.

    I tried turning stroke off and generating an equivalent offset path to no avail.
