  1. Object size change?

Now, the transformation panel reflects the size of a shape plus the thickness of the outline if there is one.
For example, a rectangle of 100x100 with an outline (in the middle) of 1 displays a size of 101x101, 102x102 if the outline is external and 100x100 if the outline is internal.
It's a very confusing change! The previous behavior was much more talkative.
I understand that this reflects the actual size, including the outline thickness, but this should be an option. I did not see myself 3 decimal digits when I want a rectangle of 100x100! :)

  2. SVG Precision and options are reset on every launch of IL. Add a place in IL preferences allowing users to permanently set SVG precision.

I've gone over this problem in detail on the forums here:

    https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/opening-a-svg-and-then-re-saving-it-causes-severe-distortions-in-the-resulting-file/m-p/15123107#M434142

Illustrator's precision for saving out SVG files has a default of 1 decimal place. This can cause severe path distortion and rounding errors in the resulting file if you simply save it with CTRL+S.

This precision setting is reset to 1 after closing and re-opening Illustrator no matter what settings you have applied in the past. To rectify this, you have to:

    1. FIRST select "Save As..."
    2. Choose SVG as your format.
    3. Click save and wait for the SVG options dialog to appear.
    4. Change the precision value from 1 …

  4. Artboard Snapping is broken when creating a new artboard

If you're creating a new artboard, you can snap the edges of the artboard to previously created artboards.

However, if you hold SHIFT to constrain proportions (handy if you're making social size assets for example), the snapping no longer works, even though you'll still see the snapping points.

Furthermore, when you constrain proportions, the artboard location will be a decimal point, meaning if you Export For Screens, you'll get extra pixels added to your artboard thanks to a different unrelated illustrator bug.

    Video attached.

  5. Ver 23.3, When character unit is Q, spin button does not work properly with font size of character panel and control

    Version : 24.3
    OS : Windows and macOS

    1. Set the unit character to series (Q) in the environment settings
    2. Create point text and area text
    3. Change the font size of the character panel or control with the spin button.

In this operation, the spin button does not work properly, and the size can be changed only within a specific range based on the character size at the time of selection.
In the property panel, it works normally.
Even if you enter it directly, a value with decimal will be entered instead of the entered value.
    Other units are normal.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 25.0 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

  6. Decimals are divided by point instead of comma

After updating to MacOs 11,1 and AI 25.1 the numeric keyboard do not recognize comma "," as input and put in values without any decimals.

Point "." from the regular keyboard are accepted, but this is wrong way of writing numbers in my language and most common european languages except english.

  7. SVG Export Settings not applied

    Operating System: macOS Monterey v12.1
    Illustrator version: 26.1

    Steps:
    1. Open .ai file or .svg file in Illustrator that uses a gradient
    2. Export as SVG with the following settings (see attached screenshot):
    - Styling: Presentation attributes
    - Font: SVG
    - Images: Preserve
    - Object IDs: Unique
    - Decimal 2
    - Minify: yes
    - Responsive: yes

    Expected Result:
    - The SVG elements use the "fill", "stroke", etc attributes directly
    - No <style> tag
    - No inline style attributes in the SVG elements
    - Object IDs are random strings (uuid)
    - SVG shouldn't have the <?xml starting tag

  8. CMYK sliders don't work when decimals appear

Mac OSX High Sierra Version 10.13.5 Adobe Illustrator 22.1
I am new this month to Adobe Illustrator.
I have been able to use my app for only 3 days in the last 3 weeks. I have a 2 second wheel of death whenever decimals appear instead of the normal number percentages. A few things happen when the decimals appear, either trying to use the sliders freezes the screen as it fades, or I can move the sliders and the decimals disappear, (3 days only), or I have just the decimals and cannot change the colors. Note…

  9. Dashed lines changing style when exporting to SVG

The latest update to AI has caused this issue. When exporting an svg with dashed lines, the svg's dashed lines either disappear or become dotted lines.

    Operating System: Windows 10 Enterprise
    Adobe Illustrator version: 27.0
    Steps:
    1) Open Adobe Illustrator
    2) Create a new file
    3) Draw a line
    4) Open the properties window by going to Window > Properties
    5) Click on the Stroke option
    6) Check "Dashed Line" on
    7) Set the first "dash" to 10
    8) Make sure the rest of the "gap" and "dash" options are blank
    9) Go to File > Export > Export As…

  10. The selection list of Zoom levels has commas instead of decimals

At the bottom left of the interface where Zoom level is displayed and can be selected, the values that should have decimals (ie. 66.67%, 33.33%, 16.67%, etc.) have commas instead. When those values are selected the Zoom level doesn't recognize the comma, so it just zooms to 6667%, 3333%, 1667%, etc. which is obviously not expected or useful.

  11. SVG Export missing data-attributes in 27.1

    macOS Ventura 13.1
    Illustrator 27.1

    Export for Screens
    Choose SVG format
Edit Format Settings for SVG (by clicking on gear icon)
Select SVG and set to the following:
    Styling: Inline Style
    Font: SVG
    Images: Preserve
    Object IDs: Unique
    Decimal: 2
    check both Minify and Responsive

The exported SVG should have the attribute data-name with the object's layer name. For example, a rectangle object filled with the color #f6b780 with the layer named 0006A should look like this in the SVG file.

    <rect id="bddec359-1a3b-4c18-8500-9c0518f1a41d" data-name="0006A" x="1374.25" y="603.67" width="232.52" height="83.75" style="fill:#f6b780"/>

  12. Sizes and coordinates get distorted in SVG export

Adobe Illustrator CC on Mac OS
I composed a graphic in Illustrator to use as a SVG Sprite in CSS. To make sure all my sprites render sharply I aligned my vectors to full pixel coordinates and sizes. Unfortunately those same coordinates end up on some slightly odd positions in the source of the exported SVG.
I used the "Export as..." function with Decimals set to 2.

  13. Illustrator 24.1 metric precision broken

So there was a new release Illustrator 24.1 the other day which I installed. Unfortunately, it looks like the engineers messed up and semi-broke the conversion routines from inches or whatever measurement is used internally to the metric units displayed to me as the user.

What used to be displayed as nice whole numbers or up to a maximum of three decimals, is now never an even number and always displayed with four decimals. Just to take an example, a dimension clearly intended to be precisely 10 mm is now displayed as say 9.9998 mm or 10.0003 mm.

  15. BUG: Settings for number of decimals in SVG exports resets after restarting Illustrator

Illustrator isn’t saving the number of decimals that has been changed in the "Save as..." and "Export as..." dialog boxes. When quitting Illustrator, the value resets to 1, which isn’t an ideal default setting.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create a new file in Illustrator.
    2. Open "Export as..."
    3. Select "SVG (SVG)" as the file format.
    4. Change the number of decimals to a value other than 1.
    5. Click OK to export the file.
    6. Quit and reopen Illustrator.
    7. When you open the Export dialog again, the value for Number of Decimals is reset to 1.

    Expected behavior:

    The last used value…

  16. Character Panel Type, Leading and Scaling sizes have extra added decimals

Ai 2025 v29.5 / Mac Sequoia 15.6 / M1 Macbook Pro / 32GB RAM - but happening on other macs with different configurations as well but same Ai version.
We're noticing extra decimals are being added as shown in the attached screenshot. Despite choosing sizes from the drop-downs and then saving the file, the decimals return. I see a few others have posted about this previously but I haven't seen any resolution posts. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

  17. It's 2022. Can we get some glaring, long standing bugs fixed please?

There are long standing user requests for all of these:

    • 'Export for Screens' still adds extra pixels on exports unless the artboards are placed to exact pixels

    • Artboards can't be moved to snap to exact pixels, meaning if you move artboards you probably have to manually remove any decimal places in the artboard position, or else Illustrator will add extra pixels on export...

    • Smart Guides show up when creating or moving artboards, but don't actually work because creating or moving Artboards doesn't snap

    • Artboard names will randomly revert back to old names

    • In the Export for Screens dialog box, Artboard…

  18. SVG paste truncating curves

Pasting SVG seems a bit broken. I have 1778 curves that I've copied from Rhino 3D WIP (it copies as SVG). I paste it to Illustrator, and Most of the curves automatically change to straight. Not only that, but it's automatically merging some of the points that are close together.

This leads me to believe that Illustrator is rounding the points lower than it should.

Enter Inkscape. I pasted there, and it's fine. I wanted to check to see if it was a failure of Rhino. So copied from Inkscape and paste to Illustrator... same issue.

    Copy only a Little…

  19. Inconsistent dot/comma stroke pulldown menus

just noticed something strange in the pulldown menu of the new Properties panel. The values for thickness are marked with a dot for decimals, while all the other panels use a comma.

In the picture you can see the pull down showing values with ".xx pt" while the stroke has a thickness of ",xx pt" (obtained through the Strokes panel)

This causes the 0.5pt selection in the Properties menu to make strokes with a 5 pt thickness, and NOT 0.5 pt.
(When I select the thickness through the regular Strokes panel it says 0,5 pt and ends up with…

  20. The Stacked Bar Graph tool doesn’t add up correctly in Illustrator 2021.

I’m designing a publication with lots of data. These figures have to be absolutely correct, since they’re economical and official. I noticed that the Stacked Bar Graph tool doesn’t produce bars of equal length and doesn’t align on the right. There are notable differences even though all my data add up to 100 and have three decimals.

What a shock, if anything should be correct this is it.

It’s not about this utterly backward graph tools which are unchanged over the last 20 odd years, it’s not about Illustrator not being able to use multicore on the Mac. None…
